America Out Loud is the premier news network with a diverse array of talk shows that inform and inspire. A daily resource for smart people.
Welcome to another edition of After Dark on the America Out Loud Talk Radio Network. I
am your host, Rob, and my co-host tonight is Heather Robinson of the New York Post.
Heather, what can I say? The Republican National Convention has ended and it was won for the
definitely a unified party that not only was unified, but was exuding unification for the
world as a whole. And as you saw last night, Trump took the stage. And I said previously
on all of our other shows, definitely a changed man. I know you had cautioned us during the
last show that we want to change. We want the same Trump, those policies to push through all
the BS. And I think that we got that. He was somber when he spoke. And what I really liked
is that toward the end of the middle of the speech, he said, I humbly ask for your vote,
asking the American people. And he said that we're all a part of this. And I just took some notes
here. And I'm going to let you jump in because there's just so much to talk about. I was just
like, wow, this is the man that we need for such a time. He said, together, we will launch a new
era of safety, prosperity and freedom for citizens of every race, religion, color and creed. The
discord and division in our society must be healed. As Americans, we are bound together by a single
fate and a shared destiny. We rise together or we fall apart. That says it all, Heather.
I thought, wow. And then in his opening, when he walked us through what happened,
that horrible day when he was, this gunman tried to assassinate him. And still, we don't know
why he wasn't protected the way he should have been. Still, Kim Shietle is refusing to resign.
Maybe she'll resign while we're having the show. But the refusal on her part,
I just can't, I can't fathom it. But I want you to jump in and let me know what you thought about
last night, the last day of the convention. Yes, Rob. Well, I felt that he was, he did seem
something different about him, a little more humble, a little more contained, but still strong
and resilient as ever. I think no one could possibly question the man's toughness or
dedication to country at this point. In a certain way, he said, I felt safe because I had God on my
side. He noted that the crowd of thousands of people there did not panic, did not start running
and trampling each other when the shots rang out. I really think that this caricature the media has
pushed of him and of his supporters all these years. I think I don't see how anyone who's
at all objective could fail to question that even just a little bit at this point.
I think that I was proud of him and it was good to see his whole family there with him.
I had wondered about Ivanka because she wasn't there the first few nights and I had heard some
chatter that she didn't want him to run again, which I can understand, honestly. I think if it
were my father, I would be very worried about him, all the abuse he's taken, all the stress
at this point, the attempt on his life, but he won't be stopped. And I think that seeing how
his children love him, hearing Eric and his daughter-in-law, Lara, and his granddaughter, Kai,
hearing the way they spoke about him, the sincerity, the warmth, the love, the protectiveness.
I think that we got a glimpse of where his strength comes from. Of course, it's him.
He's a remarkable man, but he has a remarkable, strong, cohesive big family too behind him.
It was beautiful to see.
It was very beautiful to see the unification last night. Each of the speakers that came out
spoke. We had Hulk Hogan to come out and to rip his shirt off in support. We had Daniel White
who spoke. Just talking about, especially the everyday people, how their lives have been
changed. And those who lost family members due to the increase in crime and violence.
And then you have a presidential candidate, a former president,
to be able to give his own personal story as to how he almost lost his life.
It was moving. And him taking that stage, being just completely a somber Trump. Now,
toward the end, he got into that macho man and riving up the crowd. But the cadence in the
speech from beginning to end, I thought it was well-timed. And you would have to be a person
who just doesn't, without emotion, to come out and try and attack him and say he was being
disingenuous. Now, of course, there were the fact-checkers who are still coming out saying,
oh, he was talking about black jobs. What black jobs? Oh, he was saying about the economy. What
did he do? And I would submit to them, you need to step back and stop pushing this rhetoric that
you've been pushing, knowing that it's going to frighten certain people, a certain group of people.
And it's all geared toward the black voters because they're afraid the black voters
are going to abandon them. And I would say to them, if they're looking at someone else,
then you never had them. And your policies never did anything for them to keep them there.
And while you're trying to say that he misspoke or he said something wrong,
what is the truth on your part? What has your party done? They can't tell you. They will come
up with the same old rhetoric that he's a bad man and you can't trust him. Even within the
Democratic Party, they're having all of this ruckus as to who's going to run, who's not going
to. And it's like a house of cards that they created that's falling down. And I think that
our side and definitely our side in the media must do more to point them out. I mean, poignantly,
just point them out and say, this person said this, and it's a lie. Because when we don't do
it, what happened this past Saturday, almost a week ago, happens again. Because you can't let
lies like that, that hateful rhetoric go unchallenged. If they're going to constantly
challenge us, then we need to point them out and challenge them. I mean, and break it down.
This is what you said, and it was wrong. But again, going back to Trump, I mean, the man that
he is rising to the occasion, only mentioning Joe's name once. And he didn't use the names that
he would normally use, Crooked Joe, and he stayed clear of that. Because he's a man wanting to bring
the party together, knowing that it can be done. He sees the need to do it. And as you said, having
his family out on stage with him. And I saw an article somewhere, they said that Melania broke
tradition by not speaking at the convention. I think it was Barbara Bush who first spoke
some years ago. And I'm like, okay, well, it's okay for her not to speak. She's not required
to speak simply because Barbara Bush started it some years ago doesn't mean it has to continue.
I think that a lot of times people get stuck in, well, they did it this way, we should do it this
way again. Doesn't necessarily mean that it's right or wrong. She didn't want to, she didn't
have to. But of course, the media is saying, well, she doesn't want to be with them because
they're going to divorce. And just, again, just giving more gas to the fume, to the fire,
to set it ablaze, to get people thinking as opposed to focusing on the good, what this man has done.
And that, as he said, I'm here because of God Almighty, because I shouldn't be here.
Had I not turned and he said, I've never done that before. And we all know that he's never
done it before. Had I not, we wouldn't be here in this joyous moment. It would have been something
completely different. And for him to recognize that, that introspection that people have when
they have these near death experiences, it's just, Heather, I'm speechless. Because it's one of those
moments. His toughness is really something to behold. And, you know, in terms of the fact,
I'd like to point out, you know, some of the most important facts, such as he pointed out that
Iran has $250 billion now. And when he was president, Iran was broke. You know, when he
talks about how these horrible attacks and wars would not have happened had he been president. I
mean, that's a fact, you know, that Iran wouldn't have had the money to fund Hamas.
This whole idea, you know, that somehow talking to our adversaries was wrong. I mean,
you know, suddenly the left, when it came to Trump, you know, became the biggest proponents of
cold and hot wars. But the reality was the world was much more at peace with his leadership.
He's simply a tougher, stronger man than Biden. And he had them scared, you know.
You know, one thing I like to say, Rob, two skeptics of him being reelected. And, you know,
this isn't really my view at all, because I think he's quite sane and stable. But for people who
are pretty deep into the indoctrination they've received, that he's dangerous, he's crazy, he's
scary, I say to them, you know, think about it. If you're dealing with a world that in the big
picture, there's a lot of lawlessness, tyrants, dictators, terrorists, you know, think about the
neighborhood, you know, if there are gangs in the neighborhood, and there's a guy who's really tough
and perceived as insane, are they going to want to mess with him? So, you know, think about that.
Think about how tough he is. And also, you know, how he's perceived. It was really good for the
whole world's security when he was in charge. So, you know, I like that he pointed out that
that the simple fact that Iran has become enriched under Biden, I think of all the
things that Biden has done, that may be one of the worst and the most incomprehensible.
He talked a little bit about the attack on Ukraine and the war now, which is
just simply unwinnable. I do believe he can quickly, quickly help resolve that, because
America's driving it, as you know, at this point. I think both sides have taken a beating.
As any good lawyer knows, that's when you get people to compromise, just as a matter of logic,
you know, and I think it can be done. And I think it's time for us to focus on our own country.
And I think he brought that home. I liked, you know, I thought what he had to say about an Iron
Dome for America was interesting. That reminded me of Israeli thinking in the sense that, you
know, you focus on defense, you know, and I think that he really did give us some hope when he said
these years of weakness and war will be over. And let's hope, amen, you know, that he can bring that
strength back to the White House, to the world. I, for one, you know, felt a little comforted and
felt some hope after hearing him. And I want to add also is that the sign of a true leader,
someone once pointed out to me, is a person who does not start war, but prevents war. And you're
able to do that because of your standing, because of what you're exhibiting. And definitely when he
was in office, the adversaries or opposition said that he was going to start World War III
and have all these wars, and it didn't happen. I mean, four years did not happen. What did happen
is that they, the Democrats, created war within our own borders with neighbors fighting
its neighbors because of their lies. And see, that's something else that has to be pointed out.
And here on After Dark, we're going to point it out. And it needs to be pointed out more so,
because after Saturday, just an awakening, I'm like, we don't have time to sit back and allow
them to constantly lie to us. You look right now, Biden has COVID, and they're telling us,
oh, well, COVID is not going to stop him, just like a bullet isn't going to stop Trump. It's
like they're almost the same thing. And I'm thinking, are you serious for them to even,
to say that? And you have people nodding their head, yeah, that's right, that's right. And I'm
thinking, stop and listen to what they're saying. These are two different things. The survival rate
of someone who has COVID is almost 99.1%, whereas to take a bullet, everyone is looking at this,
all experts are saying, he should not be here. And he recognizes it. But because of the hate
that the media has driven, because they're afraid that they're going to lose power,
because they're afraid that their whole house of cards of lies is falling down,
and they can't do anything about it, they will keep pushing this agenda.
You know, I was reading a piece from Barack Obama, who came out, and I wish they would put this out
there more so, but I guess they won't, because they don't want their folks to say, oh, man,
look at what Barack Obama is saying. But it was on media, and I don't like that news outlet,
because they're full of lies, and they exaggerate. But he came out, and he said, Barack Obama speaks
out, this was five days ago, we should all be relieved Trump wasn't seriously hurt. Now,
I think that if the media had really said, this is what Barack Obama said, and really ran this
on a steady reel, I think that the acrimony that's still going on here now, especially within
the media saying that, you know, or people coming out saying, well, next time they should have
succeeded, if you're going to shoot a gun, you should have succeeded, you know, just really
nasty things like that. Had they put that there, hopefully, people would have said, wait, wait a
minute, our first black president is even saying that we should be thankful, as opposed to us
coming up with this hateful rhetoric. But again, it starts at the top. And then it goes down. And
you don't have anyone at the top to stand up and be a leader, lead. This is a moment for Biden to
lead. This is a moment for Barack Obama, albeit he's not in office, to stand up and say, look,
this was my opponent. This is my VP's opponent. But we all have different ideas, policy ideas.
But when something like this happened, we need to come together and be one. Remember back in the
90s, when Bill Clinton was in office, and he learned that Al Qaeda, one of the terrorist
groups, had put a hit on former President Bush, the first Bush's head, he went and he bombed them,
showing unity that you, you know, we might be, our parties might have a difference of opinion.
But if you think you're going to come after an American, you're sadly mistaken. Whereas,
now, we're finding out the same thing with Trump. And the Biden administration,
seemingly made light of it and didn't do anything because this is the same Biden administration
that has given money to Iran. So while they're attacking Trump, it's like, look at what
this guy has done to weaken us, to weaken our presence on the global stage. But people don't
see it, Heather, they're so busy going after these little tidbits that the media has fed,
making Trump out to be this bad man, this bad orange man, when at the end of the day,
this man has a heart of gold for the country. You're listening to After Dark on the America
Out Loud talk radio network. And my co host tonight is Heather Robinson on the New York Post.

And we're back, second half of the show. And my host tonight is Heather Robinson,
and we are just doing a rundown of the Republican convention that took place in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. And if you've missed it, I would say it's more than likely going to be on repeat this
weekend. I would encourage you all to go and watch it because if ever there was a party showing unity,
it was Republican Party this previous week. Now, before we continue our conversation,
I want to share with you guys a new product that we have here
within the America Out Loud family, and it's called Malcolm's Healthy Gut Bundle. It is a
new treatment or a detoxing process that you want to use to clean out your gut. And I'm telling you,

Now, going back to our discussion, the convention and unification and Trump and everything,
there's so much that's happening, Heather. When we started out last week, we were going to take
the show in a completely different direction. We were still talking about Biden and the Democrats
trying to get him to step down, and they're still doing it. And tonight, by the time we air,
there's a possibility that Biden would have stepped down from the presidency and allowed
Kamala Harris to step up, because I think they realize they overplayed their hand
with the persecutions, with the lies, and then with the failure of the Secret Service Department
to protect Trump. And the noise is coming out. They're trying to get their folks on the same
page. Some of them are saying, oh, we wish it had happened, and oh, we shouldn't say this.
There's just so much unknown and then known that we know that we don't like. And as we said on one
of our shows, we have Barack Obama behind the scenes trying to get Biden to step down, especially
more so now that he has COVID. Biden even came out and said, you know, if there is an act of God,
or if God told me to step down for some reason, I will do it, or if there's a medical condition.
Well, no, there is a medical condition. Is he going to step down? It remains to be seen. Like
I said, while we're coming on live tonight, there's a possibility he'll say, okay, I'm going
to step down. I'm going to turn it over to Kamala. But there are so many risks in doing that. But
while they figure that out, going back to our party, the Republicans, Heather, they're unified,
and they are ready to win this thing in November, regardless as to what the critics are saying,
they're in it to win it. And as Trump said, I want to be the president of everyone,
the United States. I want to be Republican, Democrats, Independents. I'm here. I want to
lead. I humbly ask for your vote. And during commercial break, you reminded me of something,
again, showing us how a real leader is and what a real leader does with the hostages that Trump
brought back home. You want to share that with our listeners? Yes. Trump brought home
50 American hostages from all around the world without a shot being fired. Google it. People
were shocked to hear that because the media pretty much glossed over it. But he did so much
good, tough negotiating that he brought home Americans from all around the world. I mean,
I think that this reelection of Trump is the best hope, by the way, for the Israeli hostages who
are being cruelly held by Hamas, including several Americans who Biden never mentions,
and two parents of one of these young men who's a dual citizen of America and Israel spoke one
night at the convention. I think that Trump's reelection, anybody who cares about those
hostages should consider that that may be really the only hope for them. It reminds me a little
bit of what I, I was a little girl, but what happened in 1980, you know, crazy as these times
are, and in some ways remarkable as they are, there are patterns in history. And I think there's
a lot of parallels between the presidency of Jimmy Carter and the presidency of Joe Biden.
Weakness, malaise, lack of respect for America that led to instability elsewhere in the world,
Americans being abused and bullies around the world, knowing they could get away with it.
Remember, Iran took our hostages in 1979, too. And the very day Reagan was inaugurated,
not even when, I don't think it was, was it the inauguration or was it when he was elected?
The inauguration.
Yeah, they gave him, gave him up. They knew, they knew they were in for it if they didn't.
And I think that the same thing could very well happen here. Please God. I mean, of course,
I hope the hostages are released before then. But I think, I think they know, Hamas,
their days are really numbered. You know, for real, if, if President Trump is reelected and
there's any hope for our, our dear people, our Israeli and American people, I think it will be
Trump's reelection. So anybody who cares about the hostages ought to think about that and think
about how when Reagan was elected, that's when the hostages came home.
There's just so much to think about when you, when you see what's happening right now. And I
think that because there's a lot of noise coming from the media, the media has decided who they
want to nominate as the president. They think that we should follow alone. And I would submit
to people, you've got to pull back. They've been lying to you. They lied to you about Biden's
mental condition. They lied to you about Russia collusion. They've just been lying, lying, lying,
and wanting you to think what they're saying is truth. But it isn't. They're just twisting
the narrative. And a lot of people out there, not our listeners, but maybe some of their friends
enjoy listening to Joe Scarborough. And I was just, I would say, I would submit to you,
look at how he has, you know, changed from not just on a weekly basis, but a daily basis telling
us that Joe Biden, he and his wife, Mika Brzezinski, is telling us that Joe Biden is fit.
He's sharp, sharp as a tack, and he's ready to take Trump on. And all of those who don't
support him go, you know, F you. He actually said this. And now this same man,
whose show was pulled off the air earlier this week because they were afraid that some guests
might come on and say something that they shouldn't have said, is now saying that,
well, maybe Joe should step down. Maybe Joe isn't ready. And I'm saying, wait a minute,
what changed? This is just a matter of days. You were telling us that this man was ready to be
president. Now you're telling us, well, maybe he isn't, maybe he should step down.
Well, that was always the case. But again, they were gaslighting the American people,
did not want the American people to see the truth. And because there's such a hate for Trump,
no matter what this man does, people see it as being, oh, he's bad. He's evil. He's a racist.
And if you were to ask, just point out to me what you're talking about. They can't do it.
They can't because they're running on these narratives that the media has created.
You know, one thing last night that really caught my attention, among so many other things,
is when Trump recognized the family of that man, the firefighter, and I'm probably going
to mispronounce his name, Corey Compratore. That was powerful, Heather.
Yes, yes, it was very powerful. He said, what a fine man he was. And I think the simplicity
and the truth of the tribute to that wonderful man was very moving. And I felt that President
Trump was sincere, you know, and we have to remember that, thank God, President Trump was
spared. But how terrible and tragic that that wonderful man was murdered. And what a fine man
he was. Yes. So all of those that are saying that this was staged, this was planned by Trump,
that the blood that we saw this year was possibly ketchup. And these are people in the media that
are saying this. I'm thinking, are you serious? Yeah, they're in the media, commentators that are
saying this. And I'm thinking, but what about that man who lost his life, protecting his family?
What about them? Was that made up? I mean, it's a harsh thing to say for people to come out and,
you know, just to say something as evil. Now, that's evil right there, evil personified.
This man lost his life trying to protect his family. And you're going to say, oh, well,
maybe this was made up. And now, you know, Trump is trying to be the victim. And we spoke about
this the other night, Joy Reid saying, Trump, he's trying to be the victim, and we can't allow
him to be the victim. Well, unfortunately, he is the victim. He doesn't want to be. He didn't ask
for this. Right, right. He doesn't make his life about being a victim. I think that there's a lot
of that, you know, on the left. Well, anyway, maybe today isn't the day to. Well, no, but we
have to compare and contrast that they like to create victims. He didn't want to be a victim.
He didn't ask for this. And they like to be victims. And as you said during the first block,
he didn't have to do any of this. I mean, this man, he is a billionaire. He could have walked
away. And I hope our listeners, and I'm sure that they are aware of this, he could have walked away
when they started persecuting him with all these charges. He could have said, look, I'm just going
to walk away. And even before that, because he knew, and they weren't letting him know, if you
do, this is what's going to happen to you. This is what we're going to do. So stay on the sideline.
But he did it. Like he said, I'm standing between them and you. He took a bullet for the American
people, unfortunately. And if people don't realize that, and they don't, and I don't know what it
takes. At one point, Heather, who was oftentimes quiet on social media, I have my own social media
that I have my professional social media, and speaking out about politics, because I know it's
very divisive. And I'm just not going to weigh into it. But after Trump was shot, I went on my
personal social media page and I said, this is unacceptable. And we need to wake up and realize
what's happening. And it was met with a lot of resistance from friends like, oh, I can't believe
this. And this man is evil. And I'm like, well, tell me how. Please explain to me how. And it was
the same rhetoric that you always hear. He's a racist. Tell me how. Well, he said he doesn't
want, he doesn't protect the rights of women. How? When you have a party that can't tell the
difference between a man and a woman. Oh, well, he said this said, in Charlottesville, okay, he said
on both sides were good people. Did you go back and read the statement? And then someone said to me,
MAGA, Make America Great Again. That's code. I'm like, code for what? Do you realize that
Bill Clinton used the same phrase? Do you realize that Barack Obama used the same phrase?
They went away. They said absolutely nothing. And I'm like, I don't want you to take my word for it.
You look it up. And I even got a video of Clinton talking about Make America Great Again.
And they posted it. And I'm like, here it is. Nothing. It was as if though they didn't see it.
So now they're going into this whole thing with Project 25. Project 25. I'm thinking,
but that has nothing to do with Republicans. That is from a think tank. Remember, Democrats have
think tank. They came up with these ideas and suggestions, but that has nothing to do with
Republicans. So why are you tying the two together? Well, because Joy Reid is tying the two together.
She was going to do a whole show on Project 25. And then I submitted to some people. I'm like,
no, Project 25, again, it's from a think tank. I don't necessarily agree with everything that
they're saying. I'm like, but are you aware that they're saying that children or parents should be
able to take their taxpayer dollars and send their children to schools of their choice and take
them out of public schools that are failing them? Are you aware that they're saying that there
should not be the secrecy between children and the parents where a child can go to school and say,
oh, I want to have a sex change and then not tell the parent? Are you aware that that's in there?
Now, again, it has nothing to do with Republicans. But you guys are going in and you're looking at,
oh, they want us to work from 40 days a week to 165 days a week. And I'm like, are you serious?
But see, it's things like that, that the left picks up and then they try to just like,
oh, this is what it's going to do. And it's going to put Black people Black in slavery.
And I'm like, why do we constantly fall for that? Every year when there's a Republican,
you guys go with this narrative, oh, they're going to put us back in slavery. And it doesn't happen.
But it's a fear scare tactic, Heather, that they've been so successful in using. And it's
time for us to call it out and push back. So I'm like, I'm just going to start posting this
on my Facebook page to say, look, I don't usually post political things,
but you guys need to know the truth because what you're being told is a lie. It's a lie.
And I'm like, and if I lose friends because of it, so be it. But I'd rather people to have
be informed and know the truth than the lie that's being told, Heather.
Well, you know, you're a good man, Rob, and you're a brave one to stand for truth. You always have.
And I give you tremendous credit. It takes courage. And I also stopped posting on my
sort of personal social media, anything political because I felt it was thankless.
I always tried to keep the dialogue respectful, but simply would assert facts. But you know,
you're inspiring me. And maybe I will, you know, write something about President Trump's
successful efforts to redeem hostages, American hostages from around the world,
because that's something that's under the radar, you know, because the media wouldn't give them,
you know, any credit for things. But that's very relevant now. And, you know,
connected with that, speaking of lies, Biden has said, I believe he has said no Americans have
died on his watch in war. And that's simply not true. You pointed out three Americans,
three American sailors, they happen to be African Americans were killed by Iran.
Biden said very little to nothing, did nothing, as far as I'm aware.
Of the 13 Afghanistanis that were killed when they withdrew.
And not to mention all the Israeli American dual citizens who were murdered by Hamas.
You know, for him to make a claim like that is not only a lie, it shows how little he's affected
by the death and the hurting and humiliation of our American people.
Right. And people should know that.
You know, that's, that's, that's a particularly lousy thing for him to say. And we need if we
care about our American people and our and their lives and our soldiers and service members lives,
we need President Trump, we need a president who will stand up for not let American blood be
spilled like that. Without any.
Yep, folks, we're up against another commercial break. And we're going to continue the

Heather, I also want to bring up J.D. Vance, the vice president that Trump chose to run with him.
I don't know if you had a chance to read Hillbilly Illogy or saw the movie. I haven't. I've heard
that it's great. I saw the movie. Yes, it was wonderful. I want to watch it. But the statement
that I want to make is, what's really interesting is that before he, when this book came out and the
movie came out, he was a talk of town, the talk of the town. And the left loved him. They loved
the movie. And he also wasn't a fan of Trump. And we said this in our show. Right. We said this in
the previous night. But he came around and his metamorphosis, so to speak, I find interesting
because a lot of other people came around also. And he said what a lot of big tech guys in San
Francisco are saying, a lot of deep pocket guys are saying who were vehemently against Trump and
said that Trump was going to destroy democracy, that Trump was a racist. And I mean, these are
smart men that are saying this. J.D. Vance himself was smart, went to Harvard. And then
they stopped. Now, here's the epiphany. They stopped. They did their research. They didn't
rely on the media. They pulled the tape, pulled the transcripts and then read what Trump said.
And we're like, wow, we got it wrong. Now, you and I both said this on the show,
sometimes was Trump speaks, speaking hyperbole or he's when he says that people could he says
things that you're able to put like more than one meaning in it. But we know what he's talking
about as well as the media. But because they know that the average American is on the run,
isn't paying attention, they go in, they dissect and then they formulate and narrate
what they want you to think he said. And then they say, yes, he said it.
The same thing with J.D. Vance. And when he took the stage the other night to accept the vice
president, Trump's vice president, he said, I, like you, believed what they were telling me,
didn't bother to go into my own research. But then I stopped. And I'm paraphrasing what he said,
did my own research. And I thought, wow, this man is on the right page. And we have heard so
many others. On the left who were against Trump, billionaires saying we got it wrong.
We like this man. We were completely wrong. And it only takes you people going out and doing their
own research and listening to what he had to say, as opposed to what the media is telling you.
And it also takes a little bit of adult imagination and understanding to not take
every word literally. I mean, it's been a puzzle to me all along, Rob, whether these smart people
really do believe, like, I don't know, as an example, you know, if he says, I'm going to
end the Ukraine war before I'm even president. You know, he makes these statements,
two colorful statements to have an impact. He's a colorful speaker. I mean, do they really
believe? I mean, they say that's a lie. He can't end it before he's president. I mean,
it's like, do they really think that he's do they not understand that he's employing a little bit of
a little bit of exaggeration and figurative language to make a point? Or are they just
purposely sort of seizing on that and willfully being less sophisticated than they actually are?
You know, I mean, he obviously has a way of speaking that sometimes employs a little bit of
exaggeration and figurative language. And it's been a habit of the left for all these years
to take every word literally. Do you know what I'm saying?
Yep. I think it's purposefully, like I said, they know that the average American is so busy
that they're not going to take the time to come and research. They're relying on
the media to give them the soundbites or to summarize it all so they can run away with it.
I was speaking to a friend of mine who said that she gets her news from Instagram. I thought,
really? I mean, I don't see where on Instagram can you get news? I know they have little clippings,
but that's what they're counting on. They're counting on the average American not going,
taking the time to do the research or to listen to what he actually said. So they summarize it
and they put it out there and people run with it. Again, we mentioned Joy Reid.
While we're speaking, I'm looking at an article that just came by with her comparing
Trump being shot by a gun to Biden having COVID. And she will stand by it. And because of her
delivery, when she speaks it, people believe her. They'll say, oh yeah, that's true. They're
one and the same. And it's like, wait a minute. Do you actually think COVID and being shot is one
and the same? But they're not thinking. There are smart people that are out there. They just
aren't thinking. They're just getting what they can get right. Yeah. And then using it to
reconfirm their bias. Yeah, well. Which is already out there. They think that he's a bad
person. So of course it's like, well, it must be true. Going back to what you said during the
second block about Trump freeing a lot of American hostages. A lot of people are completely unaware
of it. They don't know about it because the media doesn't talk about it. All the good that he's
done. You would think that in this moment, they would say the articles that would be written
would be, we probably have a difference of opinion, political opinions, policy-wise, but
this man loves the country. No one has come out to say it. Now, Barack temporarily danced around
it. But to just say, he loves the country. We have a policy difference, but he loves the country. He
is a true American. Joe Biden comes out and says, oh, well, yeah, but he lied. Why aren't you guys
looking at his lies? I mean, he was about to attack Lester Holt before he got sick because
Lester Holt was asking him, you know, some of the things that you've been saying, don't you
think you need to tone it down? Well, what about him? Come on, man. Come on, man. And people sit
and they will hear it, but they don't pay attention. They're just waiting for what the
media gives them. Hopefully this will jolt people into more attention. I mean, I don't have much
hope for the Democrats, Rob, but I think that there are some people, maybe independents,
certainly other Republicans who didn't like him. I had a conversation the other night with a friend
who is not a Trump supporter, but is a veteran and a conservative, basically. And, you know,
he said, I have to say, and he really can't stand Trump's personality. He said, I no longer believe
that Trump is just doing this for his ego's sake. You know, after he almost lost his life,
you know, it was like that jolted my friend into seeing that nobody, you know, who's just purely
shallow and in it for the ego, after he almost gets his head blown off, you know, it has plenty
of wealth and comfort, you know, would go back into the ring if all it was about was ego. And so
maybe this dramatic turn of events will penetrate the consciousness of some people
to see a little differently, you know, not through just the filter of the media commentators,
but to see in a more nuanced way and to acknowledge some of the good Trump did as president
and some of the good in him. I love, by the way, when this was a quote I wrote down,
Trump said, as long as our energies are spent fighting each other, our destinies will remain
out of reach. That's my real ardent hope, Rob, that, you know, for all of us, this negativity.
And I admit I've fallen prey to it a little bit myself. You know, I mean, I think we, you know,
we have to point out the excesses of the left, but, you know, at some point it's time to stop
the critique and to focus on the future and what we want as a nation. And all this fighting
against each other is draining and it's weakening us. We need to unite and focus our energies
on what we do want as a country. And I thought that was a beautiful statement.
It was a beautiful statement and it is true. There's a lot of truth to it. And like you said,
sometimes we will fall victims because we're only human, but recognizing it and then moving
forward. And I think that we here on After Dark, we do a good job at that, you know, being fair.
There are a lot of things that we see that we don't like, but I am a strong proponent of calling
out the obvious, calling out the lies that the media puts out there. And we're quick to say,
as we've done on different shows, you know, our opinions and the way things can improve and,
you know, Trump, sometimes he can be bombastic, but at the same time, his heart is in the right
place. And I would not be supporting him if he was a racist or a person who's trying to destroy
America, but he isn't, you know, he is a true patriot. And I remember back in the day before
John McCain died, when someone came out and said that Barack Obama was a bad man and he was,
you know, a terrorist. And John McCain came out and said, no, that's not true. He's a patriot.
He's a good American. We have a difference of opinion on policies. And now it seems though,
that if you have a difference of opinion, you're demonized. And we've got to get beyond that.
And because if we don't, what happened this past almost a week ago could happen again.
And we don't want that to happen again. And it's something serious that we should take serious.
And I know that a lot of folks on the left, they're not taking it seriously. They want you
to think that, oh, this happens all the time. No, we don't want that to happen all the time.
And we should not feel that it does happen all the time. And we shouldn't say, oh, well,
he deserved it. You know, that's his fault. Because if it does start happening all the time,
then we lose ourselves as a nation. We become like the folks on the other side that we're saying,
oh my God, how can Russia do this? How can China do this? And you see with every election that
Russia has had, you know, one of his opponents, Putin's opponent disappears or becomes,
befalls sick. And then bam, the person's dead. We don't want that. And we aren't that. And we
can stop it by standing up for the truth and calling out anyone who thinks otherwise.
And I think it starts with, and I've said before, it starts at the top,
and then it goes down. And it starts with Biden. And it definitely starts with the media. And we
have to do a better job at calling them out. Now, I want to pivot back to, now that I've said all
that, I want to go back to the closing of the convention for the Republicans and Trump.
God bless him. Because Heather, as I've said before, I don't think that I would be willing
to move forward knowing the opposition, knowing the heel, the heavy heel mountain,
not heel but mountain, that's in front of me that he has to climb. And although this was a
great convention, although the Democrats are all up in arms as to try to get rid of Biden, and
it is not going to be a cakewalk for Trump. So I don't want any of our listeners to think
that this thing is all wrapped up. I don't have to vote. No, you have to vote. You need to go out.
You need to vote. And as they're saying now, vote early. I know some of you don't like it.
Vote early. Vote as soon as you can. Talk to your friends. Tell them to vote. Make certain
that they vote. Take a picture that you did vote. But we cannot sit on our butts and think,
oh, this is it. Trump said it all. This is going to be it. The Democrats are in a ray.
They'll probably kick Biden out. Biden is this, and they'll have Kamala. We'll go against Kamala.
