This podcast is brought to you by eHarmony, the dating app to find someone you can be yourself with. Have you ever been on a date where it feels like the other person is speaking an entirely different language, not actually a different language? But it's like you're both just completely not getting each other. I've been on a first date before with a woman that didn't like golf, she was a workaholic, she didn't like vacations, and it was clear she didn't get my personality. And it showed finding someone who gets you is hard, right?

00:00:38.74 – 00:01:07.16

That's because we're human and there's lots of different humans out there. That's why eHarmony helps you bring out your personality on your dating profile so you can meet someone you can be fully yourself with. After you've completed eHarmony's compatibility quiz, you see personality-based similarities you share with potential matches when you match based on personality. You're already one step ahead when it comes to meeting someone who gets you. So if you're searching for someone you can be yourself with, I'd love for you to try eHarmony.

00:01:07.66 – 00:01:12.32

2Speaker 2
00:02:12.12 – 00:02:13.60

Okay, let's go.

1Speaker 1
00:02:41.26 – 00:02:51.10

And then we'll take it higher, oh, we run around down to the electric high and we'll take it higher.

2Speaker 2
00:02:53.64 – 00:03:03.78

Welcome to part of my take. Today is Wednesday, October 18th, and the Phillies are fucking good.

1Speaker 1
00:03:04.38 – 00:03:06.16

They just had another solo home run, probably.

2Speaker 2
00:03:06.42 – 00:03:06.88

Probably.

1Speaker 1
00:03:07.06 – 00:03:40.82

It's just that's what they do. And I was thinking that the other night when I was watching the Phillies game, it was like, they sure hit a lot of solo home runs, don't they? And I had no idea that tonight. They set a postseason record, they hit 13 straight solo home runs. They've hit 19 home runs in the last four games, they've hit 15 home runs. So, the all-time record for homers in a playoff, it was the Tampa Bay Rays in 2020, with 34 home runs in those playoffs. These Phillies are on pace to destroy that record.

00:03:41.04 – 00:03:48.06

And it's unreal. They have their leadoff hitter, like, obviously Schwarber is hitting a lot of dingers, he's yamming a lot right now.

2Speaker 2
00:03:48.14 – 00:03:50.94

Most leadoff postseason home runs all time.

1Speaker 1
00:03:51.64 – 00:03:56.84

Yeah, and it just seems like every time I look at the Phillies play, they've hit four home runs and they're up 4-0.

2Speaker 2
00:03:57.58 – 00:04:15.16

It's insane, they all are just trading who's gonna get hot? Like last year, he Schwarber didn't hit any, he's hit what? Three in two games? It feels like Cassianos is the first game in weeks that he hasn't hit two home runs. Bryce Harper, Trey Turner, all these guys, it's crazy.

00:04:15.68 – 00:04:34.06

They are so goddamn good. The bank is electric. It's undefeated right now. And then the other story is, the Rangers are also very, very good. It's been a fun postseason playoffs. I know that the Astros are never dead, and you know what? No, I'm not gonna say the Dimebacks are dead. Because they could still, who knows, go back to go back to Chase Field.

00:04:34.22 – 00:04:49.38

But it's looking right now like Rangers, Phillies, and it's been so much fun, like watching playoff baseball every night. It's it's got me reinvigorated, it's making me fall back in love with the sport. There's nothing like October playoff baseball, it's just it's romantic.

00:04:49.52 – 00:04:51.54

It is, and guess what, the games go quick.

1Speaker 1
00:04:52.32 – 00:04:57.88

Yeah, it's nice. I like to pitch clock. Going back to the bank, that's where the D, that's where the D backs are going to their bank.

00:04:58.10 – 00:05:01.96

Yeah, their bank has a pool in it, though, so it's a a much less chill bank.

2Speaker 2
00:05:02.16 – 00:05:29.04

We should, we should ask Max, because Max, I mean, you don't really have, you're not angry, there's nothing to be angry about. I guess credit to you again, cause you were right about the Castellanos barrel up in game two against the Braves. He then went on an insane streak. I guess you were also right to save all your energies and and and let the Eagles lose to the jets so that you could, you know, be ready for these two games. How are you feeling?

00:05:29.12 – 00:05:32.14

I mean, there you can't feel anything but elated right now.

1Speaker 1
00:05:33.02 – 00:05:40.74

Yeah, I mean, right, today was just taking care of business. It's not even you're getting excited early in the game, but now you're just you're just watching your boys get the reps in.

00:05:40.92 – 00:05:49.68

That's all, that's all that was happening late in the game here. I mean, I'm fired up, but it's not, it's. It's hard to be Rah, Rah when you see the 10th run. Go, don't waste them.

2Speaker 2
00:05:49.84 – 00:05:50.96

You're wasting, yeah.

1Speaker 1
00:05:51.96 – 00:05:58.06

But this team doesn't, that doesn't exist. Oh yeah, they just keep hitting no max, it does.

00:05:58.18 – 00:05:58.94

It does exist.

2Speaker 2
00:05:59.44 – 00:05:59.84

You're wasting.

1Speaker 1
00:05:59.92 – 00:06:07.62

I guess, well, big cat. The good news is they're not really wasting runs because all their home runs are solo shots, yeah, so they might be wasting homers.

2Speaker 2
00:06:07.76 – 00:06:09.24

They're, they're wasting rally killers.

1Speaker 1
00:06:10.08 – 00:06:10.30

Yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:06:10.42 – 00:06:10.92

So that's a good.

1Speaker 1
00:06:11.10 – 00:06:21.06

How about you play some small ball, Max, get some guys on base and then drive them in? I mean, the last inning, they they had nine guys come to the plate, or the sixth, or I don't know, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:06:21.06 – 00:06:28.18

It was a pretty good inning. There's batting around and then and then, yeah, the Rangers. I was shocked to see them go and take two from the Astros.

00:06:28.30 – 00:06:44.10

And even like Game Two, when the Rangers jumped out to a four oh lead, I was like, Oh, you know, the Astros are never. there's one team that's never drawing dead, it's the Astros. And they almost came back. I feel like that series like the Astros can't get swept right, that's just not the Astros.

1Speaker 1
00:06:44.26 – 00:06:47.42

No, it wouldn't happen, it wouldn't happen, it'd be a real shame.

2Speaker 2
00:06:47.54 – 00:06:48.16

Real shame.

1Speaker 1
00:06:48.28 – 00:06:55.56

Real shame It'd be a real shame if they got swept, but no, they're not going to get swept. Okay, have you seen their lineup?

2Speaker 2
00:06:56.10 – 00:07:03.40

Yeah, I mean, it's, it's very good, Max. You have home advantage in the World Series against Who a whomst the Astros not.

1Speaker 1
00:07:03.40 – 00:07:04.54

The Rangers, Oh.

2Speaker 2
00:07:05.00 – 00:07:07.08

Oh, so, you're already thinking about the World series?

1Speaker 1
00:07:07.94 – 00:07:11.40

No, would you ask the question? Okay, I answered it well, you had to have thought of that.

00:07:11.48 – 00:07:13.10

If you knew the answer right off the top of your head, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:07:13.10 – 00:07:13.40

That's fine.

1Speaker 1
00:07:13.44 – 00:07:23.20

I knew that I knew that answer before the series even started. You gotta, you gotta be prepared for all situations. There's still a lot of baseball we played left. We, you know, the series doesn't start until a road team wins a game.

00:07:23.78 – 00:07:24.14

Yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:07:24.50 – 00:07:24.98

Good point.

1Speaker 1
00:07:25.16 – 00:07:26.42

Billy's took care of business at home.

2Speaker 2
00:07:26.64 – 00:07:27.78

That's true, that's a fact.

1Speaker 1
00:07:28.04 – 00:07:41.68

So so you, you would rather play the Rangers, but you'd rather have home field advantage, so which is it? I? You play who you play, you know, no, but you can answer which team you'd rather play. Max, I would rather play the Rangers.

2Speaker 2
00:07:42.06 – 00:07:47.08

Oh, okay, so Max wants the Rangers? You're that scared of the Astros? I guess you did get no hit by them.

1Speaker 1
00:07:48.56 – 00:07:50.08

There was zero hits in a game.

2Speaker 2
00:07:50.24 – 00:07:51.00

I am.

1Speaker 1
00:07:51.52 – 00:07:54.26

I was at the bank though, big cat, that was, that was different.

2Speaker 2
00:07:54.40 – 00:07:59.96

That's true. Is there a chance that Kyle Schwarzer might become like the most beloved athlete of all time if he plays for enough teams?

1Speaker 1
00:08:00.50 – 00:08:01.52

Yeah, he's awesome.

2Speaker 2
00:08:01.74 – 00:08:20.58

He's, he's there. It's rare that you have a guy and I. He left under different circumstances to each team. You know, I think he was a free agent when he left the Nationals and the Red Sox. Obviously the the Cubs just wouldn't pay him, which was ridiculous even at the time. But it was a situation where it's like, how could you not love the guy? And then he goes to Philly and he's beloved.

00:08:20.78 – 00:08:29.64

Like, I actually think that he, he. If he plays, maybe he needs to go a couple of West Coast teams. And it will just be like Kyle Schwarzer might be able to run for president.

1Speaker 1
00:08:30.22 – 00:08:34.70

Yeah, or go play in Japan, like after his M.L.B. career is over, make them love him too.

00:08:36.60 – 00:08:49.04

He's impossible, impossible to not like. And I'm glad that we all got to share Schwarzer for a little bit. Yeah, pass him around. When you experienced Kyle Schwarzer firsthand. Um, there's nothing like it.

00:08:49.12 – 00:09:06.58

Just the joy, the joy watching that big boy step up there and just mash taters and run. I love watching him. Oh yeah, I'm sorry for interrupting, but it's like it is so joyous to watch that man just just trolley around the bases. He went first to third on a single today and it was, it's just it's, it's a joy.

00:09:06.68 – 00:09:07.52

He's deceiving.

2Speaker 2
00:09:07.62 – 00:09:10.46

He's got deceiving speed, cause he's slower than he looks.

1Speaker 1
00:09:11.14 – 00:09:11.46

Yeah.

00:09:13.46 – 00:09:14.58

It's pretty hard here.

2Speaker 2
00:09:18.24 – 00:09:22.10

I felt it on that. He's like, Wait, do I have to fight big guy right now?

1Speaker 1
00:09:22.54 – 00:09:25.92

Well, I thought you were going to say, he's faster than he looks, and I was like, Yes, he is.

2Speaker 2
00:09:26.02 – 00:09:26.86

No, he is pretty.

1Speaker 1
00:09:26.94 – 00:09:27.38

That man can.

2Speaker 2
00:09:27.60 – 00:09:28.68

He is faster than he looks.

1Speaker 1
00:09:29.58 – 00:09:49.86

Yeah, but it's a it it. It sounds like we're sucking off the Phillies cause we are, cause they're too old. And I do think that most people that are objectively watching these games are having fun watching the Phillies like they are. They're without a doubt the, uh, the funnest team in baseball right now. And between Schwarber, the rest of the guys hitting taters and then, um, Trey Turner slides are just incredible.

00:09:50.14 – 00:09:59.26

I love watching that dude slide the way that he pops up from it. Um, it just. They're a fun team, that's the bottom line. They're a fun team. I won't apologize for enjoying watching good baseball.

2Speaker 2
00:09:59.54 – 00:10:05.72

Yeah, it's fun and the atmosphere is fun, and I'm sure the Rangers will be. It'll be fun on a Wednesday night when they go home.

1Speaker 1
00:10:05.72 – 00:10:30.78

Up to, Oh, I would like to nitpick one thing about the Phillies, though. I broached this with Max earlier, but I was watching the celebration after they advanced against the Braves. If you're Bryce Harper and you don't drink, are you allowed to be pouring beer on people in celebration? Like I would, I would be having a great time in the clubhouse, but then you've got Bryce Harper. Mormon doesn't touch the stuff, but he's pouring it all over me. That doesn't feel right to me.

00:10:30.86 – 00:10:40.48

It's like, when a guy with great lettuce, uh, wears a hat all the time, it's like, Hey dude, I, I'm a drinker, you're not a drink, you're my. My culture is not your costume.

2Speaker 2
00:10:40.80 – 00:10:44.78

He, yeah, he's the sober dude hitting on drunk chicks at the bar, you know? Yeah, okay.

00:10:44.78 – 00:10:47.50

I guess this is fine, but it's kind of weird.

1Speaker 1
00:10:47.74 – 00:10:51.00

Well, no, like drunk, but not, you know, buzz chicks, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:10:51.44 – 00:10:56.26

No, I'm not, I mean, they're standing at the bar, I'm not. Yeah, Max went somewhere totally different.

1Speaker 1
00:10:56.84 – 00:11:00.84

Well, I just want to make sure that we're not saying any bad things about one of the greatest players ever played.

2Speaker 2
00:11:00.90 – 00:11:01.34

We're not.

1Speaker 1
00:11:01.52 – 00:11:02.08

And a great guy.

2Speaker 2
00:11:02.24 – 00:11:06.26

I think he should have to, he should have to. Pour like, mountain dew on people.

1Speaker 1
00:11:06.60 – 00:11:14.14

Yeah, yeah, ginger ale. Maybe that would piss people off so much if you just got Mountain Dew Club soda with a lime in it. So no one can really tell.

00:11:14.30 – 00:11:19.86

Yeah, Max, you agree with me, though, don't you? Um, yeah, I mean, it's a little weird.

00:11:20.12 – 00:11:30.20

It people. He doesn't really talk, he talks about like partying in the clubhouse after the game, but he doesn't talk about how he doesn't drink. So it's it's a little bit strange.

2Speaker 2
00:11:30.26 – 00:11:43.10

It's probably he probably gets like a contact buzz, you know? Like, if you've ever been in, like, if you ever partied in, like a, uh, like, college basement. And like, the fumes can get you drunk, that's probably what's going on.

1Speaker 1
00:11:43.88 – 00:11:53.24

I think, honestly, Bryce Harper, probably like, I could never do what Bryce does, which is hang around drunk people and have a great time if you're sober. That's actually the worst. That's my idea of hell, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:11:53.24 – 00:11:57.30

You got to leave once they start getting drunk and they, like, want to have a conversation with you about life.

1Speaker 1
00:11:57.60 – 00:12:05.58

Yeah, exactly a conversation that you would absolutely love to have if you had six cocktails in you. But when you're stone, cold, sober, no, thank you, but yeah, yeah. Credit to Bryce.

00:12:05.66 – 00:12:12.46

I'm not knocking Bryce's sobriety, I'm just saying, it's weird that he's like, dumping, he doesn't understand why beer is cool, and he's dumping it on people.

2Speaker 2
00:12:12.64 – 00:12:18.00

Yeah, um, all right, other things. Monday night football, Justin Herbert debate rages on.

00:12:18.18 – 00:12:39.92

We talked to Baldy about this a little bit, but it is, um, he is maybe the most polarizing quarterback online. And it's very funny because it's the perfect like debate for our times. Where there's a camp that says he can do no wrong, then there's a camp that says he sucks. And the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. But on Monday night, he did suck.

00:12:40.22 – 00:13:08.92

Like, he missed throws that would have won them the game, and you expect Justin Herbert in what year four to make those throws? Um, it was just very funny, too, because it was like, all eyes. Dak Prescott should just play Justin Herbert every week because he can't be the most talked about quarterback when Justin Herbert's playing in a primetime game. And it was like there was moments in the game where it felt like Cowboys fans were pissed at Mike McCarthy and wish they had Kellen Moore.

00:13:09.08 – 00:13:28.04

And then Chargers fans were like, Please take Kellen Moore back, he sucks. It was. It was like, Ooh, who can, who can, uh, have a different opinion about Kellen Moore here? Uh, when we? The reality is he probably does suck, but also the Cowboys red zone offense sucks, so they badly want him back for that.

00:13:28.28 – 00:13:28.88

Only that reason.

1Speaker 1
00:13:29.34 – 00:13:45.10

Yeah, yeah, the, uh, the charges often to look pretty bad. When Herbert was not only just missing throws, but he was also just going to the wrong guy, he was trying to force throws when he, when he had easier options. Open seat. I think Justin Herbert is actually him and Dak are not that dissimilar.

00:13:45.22 – 00:13:54.36

They they both kinda are good enough to make you think that they could be great. And then when they're not great, you're like, what the fuck this guy sucks, he's not great.

2Speaker 2
00:13:54.52 – 00:14:17.54

Well, I've also I've thought way too much about Justin Herbert, because I still think he's very good. Um, I think Justin Herbert's problem might be that. He came in to the league very good and like, polished and ready to go, and he hasn't really gone like the next full level. You know what I mean, like he, he's just always been very good.

00:14:17.54 – 00:14:20.88

And then has games where you're like, what the hell's going on here?

1Speaker 1
00:14:21.62 – 00:14:29.94

Yeah, like it wasn't like back to what I was saying. Which is like, because of the fact that he came in pretty good, everyone's expectations went way up, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:14:29.96 – 00:14:43.34

They expected that every year we get significantly better. And maybe he's just a pretty good quarterback, probably better than pretty good. I would take him like someone was like, Would you trade the number one pick for Justin Herbert? in a fucking heartbeat? I would.

00:14:43.44 – 00:14:43.56

Yeah.

1Speaker 1
00:14:43.72 – 00:14:44.44

He's top 10.

00:14:44.54 – 00:15:01.18

I think he's a top 10 quarterback right now and everyone has been expecting him for the last three off seasons. When you do your list, your preseason list, which I love so much, like, who are the top three quarterbacks going to? Like? Justin Herbert has found himself sneaking into that equation, sometimes because of the expectation that people have.

00:15:01.34 – 00:15:11.04

Dak has gotten over, actually, the pendulum might've swung now on Dak. Or we're pretty mean to him, we're mean to him, but we're, we're, like, intentionally mean. Yeah, it's like, Yeah, Dak, you know what?

00:15:11.10 – 00:15:26.56

Dak played well at times last night. He still stinks, yeah, but he's gotten so much on the other side, where he's gotten so much criticism. That when he has a good game, people are like, Oh, holy shit, this is. This is great, but the truth, like you said, is in the middle with both those guys, I think.

00:15:26.70 – 00:15:39.74

And Dak is probably at his, at Dak's peak, he's not as good as Justin Herbert at his peak. But still, like, it's all about the expectation that he set for him with Dak. Right now, the expectation is that he throws like four interceptions a game.

00:15:39.86 – 00:15:44.02

So when he only has a couple of interceptions this year, we're like, Wow, I guess Dak is a great quarterback now.

2Speaker 2
00:15:44.08 – 00:15:58.06

And what did we say? When he runs, things happen like he started running a little more. I know he's been scared to run ever since he broke his leg. But when he runs in the defense, gives him places to run, he can unlock a lot more and looks. He had a good game last night, he played well.

00:15:58.22 – 00:16:10.80

I mean, he didn't play like lights out. The Dallas defense played very well, but like he did enough to win the game, I just looked it up. So Justin Herbert, in his rookie year, started 15 games. He threw for 4,300 yards, 31 touchdowns, 10 interceptions.

00:16:11.10 – 00:16:39.76

That's phenomenal. And then his second year, he went 5,000 yards, 15, uh, 38 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, played two more games. So he basically has been, and, you know, same next year for, you know, over 4,000 yards, 25 touchdowns, 10 interceptions. He just hasn't, like, I think that everyone expected after that rookie year that he's going to be a 50 touchdown like 13 14 wind guy, and that hasn't happened yet.

00:16:39.78 – 00:16:47.74

So everyone's like, what the fuck's wrong with him? Like, Well, he's always been very good. He just maybe hasn't gone a full step above, and that's what everyone's waiting for.

1Speaker 1
00:16:47.74 – 00:16:57.14

I think we just need to intentionally recalibrate our Justin Herbert expectations, like officially right now, Justin Herbert is basically Kirk Cousins in powder blue.

2Speaker 2
00:16:57.38 – 00:17:13.52

Well, he, he made the biggest mistake you can make in life. He was he. he raised his own bar to a level that he didn't have another level. That's why you always got a sandbag the first year, you always got to suck the first year. And then when you take the step up, everyone's like, Holy shit, look how good he is now.

1Speaker 1
00:17:13.96 – 00:17:27.64

He was panicking, too. At the end of the game, he gave, he gave off some Carson Wentz type vibes at the end of yesterday's game. It was so. Let's just say that that Justin Herbert is the perfectly average quarterback in the NFL and then, and we'll get to enjoy him when he plays well.

2Speaker 2
00:17:27.76 – 00:17:47.52

And we also, um, he is, he, he, ha, he is like on the Chargers, which is a cursed franchise, and I do admit that. So when people are like, oh well, his defense, socks or his offense, I mean, he has a shit load of talent around him, but they are a curse franchise. He he essentially has just become, he is Phil Rivers, he's going to be Phil Rivers.

00:17:47.90 – 00:18:00.56

He's going to have his career, which is a great career, borderline Hall of Fame career, maybe all Fame career. But it will always sit you, you always sit there. Being like, man, shouldn't there be more? That's essentially what he's going to be.

1Speaker 1
00:18:01.22 – 00:18:07.68

Yeah, I hope not. I really do, cause like when he plays well, he's very, very fun to watch, but he did not play well on Monday, yeah.

00:18:07.86 – 00:18:28.66

He's stunk and we also. We got saved. Um, well, I guess the Chargers save Mike McCarthy from himself, cause we're we're about to hit an all time Mike McCarthy end of game. Timeout situation last night, where he at one point, I think he burned a timeout with, like, I don't know. 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter. And then, um, there was another instance where they, Oh, it's before halftime, right?

00:18:28.78 – 00:18:29.08

No, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:18:29.08 – 00:18:32.78

I was going to save the halftime, he the halftime, they tried to give him a timeout.

1Speaker 1
00:18:32.92 – 00:18:49.32

He had two timeouts and he tried to run the clock. Eight seconds left in the half, and they tried to give Mike McCarthy a timeout with eight seconds left. And he called the ref over, he's like, No, I didn't call that timeout, yeah. And then they just ticked it down to three seconds and kicked a field goal going with.

2Speaker 2
00:18:49.32 – 00:18:55.82

Two timeouts, I know that it was crazy. It was crazy to be like, Hey, two timeouts, we have some time. Uh, yeah.

00:18:55.88 – 00:19:11.36

You know what, let's just settle for a field goal with two timeouts. The ref, Joe Buck, even said it on the broadcast. Cause they went to commercial. And they're like, I don't know what just happened to those five seconds, cause I thought we thought. He called the timeout at eight and then he told the ref to just run the clock for five more seconds.

1Speaker 1
00:19:11.70 – 00:19:17.60

Yeah, the ref came over, he's like, you want to timeout now, right? and Mike's like, Uh, what can you even really do in five seconds?

00:19:17.66 – 00:19:25.68

No, forget about that, we'll just we'll just take the points. Him and Brian Day both end of half clock management. Um, not good, not good in the NFC East this week.

2Speaker 2
00:19:25.86 – 00:19:38.54

No, um, okay, let's, uh, we have a lot of college football to talk. And then we got hot seat, cool thrown, baldy drake. May. Um, so let's kick it to ourselves back in studio and, uh, we'll get to all of that more football.

2Speaker 2
00:20:38.92 – 00:20:43.88

Okay, college football, we've got a lot to discuss.

1Speaker 1
00:20:44.18 – 00:20:45.64

We do what a weekend.

2Speaker 2
00:20:45.78 – 00:20:54.58

We got a lot. What a weekend. I think. Washington Huskies won the weekend. Incredible, incredible game. They look so for real.

00:20:54.74 – 00:21:01.52

Michael Phoenix Jr. is I still can't believe that he's the same guy that was in at Indiana because he's awesome.

1Speaker 1
00:21:01.72 – 00:21:12.36

He's a legitimately great story, too, like tearing both ACls. Yes, coming back like that's gotta be so frustrating if you're a great college quarterback, cause he was, he was very, very good his first year at Indiana.

00:21:12.36 – 00:21:22.18

When Indiana had a good, it was at the Covid year. Yeah, he was very, very good and then he just takes like, two massive steps back. But yeah, that was absolute scenes in Seattle this weekend.

2Speaker 2
00:21:22.44 – 00:21:37.48

Insane, insane. I made me a little sad that the Pac 12 is not going to exist anymore. Although Washington, Oregon, will get to play every year, depending on the Big 10 schedule, the so two things one. First, Oregon. It feels like Oregon is just destined to lose this type of game every year.

00:21:37.66 – 00:21:57.32

Uh, Dan Lanning, great coach, a little confusing with some of his decision-making. This was this game. It was funny because it was a high scoring game. It could have been even more high scoring because everyone just kept on getting stopped at the goal line. I love the fact that he went for it at the end of the game to try to you try to win the game.

00:21:57.42 – 00:22:11.70

You try to win the game right there. Fourth and three, the time that I didn't love. And this is us being extra analytics guys was the end of the first half. When they pick off Michael Phoenix, they drive down, there's four seconds left, they go for it on fourth and goal from the three.

00:22:11.70 – 00:22:29.16

We have learned, cause again, we are smart analytics guys. Part of the, uh, analytics of going for it on fourth down in the goal line is the fact that if you don't get it, you get to the. You flip the field and it's tough for the other team. You're mostly going to get a punt. Guess when that doesn't apply?

00:22:29.16 – 00:22:45.14

At the end of that half time, take the three points there is. I'm not going to be the screaming. All field goals, field goals, field goals, but there definitely feels like there's an aversion to field goals. We need to rebrand field goals. Points still matter. I know that you don't win games with field goals, but you can.

1Speaker 1
00:22:45.38 – 00:22:48.52

Yeah, kicks, kickers, kickers matter. Points don't leave all right.

2Speaker 2
00:22:48.80 – 00:22:50.02

Also to score points.

1Speaker 1
00:22:50.10 – 00:22:59.94

You want to go one step further with it. Extra deep kicker analytics if you want your kicker to make a field goal at the end of the game. Get them in a rhythm. Let him go out there and see one go through. It does better for me.

00:23:00.06 – 00:23:08.48

If you, if you trust him. Because kickers, we are weak minded people, we're very emotional, we're very fraught to being thought of as being not part of the football team.

2Speaker 2
00:23:08.90 – 00:23:10.92

I think he was like, Oh, he didn't trust me.

1Speaker 1
00:23:10.94 – 00:23:11.16

Yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:23:11.16 – 00:23:11.82

This chip shot.

1Speaker 1
00:23:11.94 – 00:23:20.06

Yeah, so it's probably not true, right? But there's like, there's probably something in a lot of kickers brains that are like, let me go out there and get some points, cause I'm automatic.

00:23:20.10 – 00:23:32.38

I'll make it just send me out, and where your coach doesn't send you out. Yeah, you can do that internal calculus in your head and be like, Well, he's doing this because of an analytical reason. But also at the end of the day, you're like, maybe he just didn't trust me that I was going to make it.

00:23:32.40 – 00:23:34.10

So, let let your kicker get in a rhythm.

2Speaker 2
00:23:34.18 – 00:23:50.60

But they lost by three and it's like, I know you can't play the. You know, the game plays out differently if they kick a field goal there. But it's not the worst thing to get bonus points, especially after an interception where Michael Phoenix doesn't throw a lot of them. That's point, that's bonus points, take your three points, take your bonus.

1Speaker 1
00:23:50.72 – 00:24:10.44

Be contented with them. He, Uh, I. I liked the decision at the end of the game because he was playing also a double. Analytics, an analytics game inside his own brain. Which was You're doing the too much time for Michael Pettit. Is it Pennix or Phoenix? I keep hearing both ways, I say, and I think that most people when they say it on television, they're just afraid that they'll say penis.

2Speaker 2
00:24:10.58 – 00:24:13.10

Yeah, so they, that's why, that's why they say Pennix.

1Speaker 1
00:24:13.72 – 00:24:17.98

Um, I'm going to say, I'm going to say, Phoenix, I like Phoenix, Phoenix, I love Phoenix, yeah.

00:24:18.20 – 00:24:19.32

Have you seen Baby Phoenix?

2Speaker 2
00:24:20.06 – 00:24:22.40

Uh, you're are you talking about baby digs, babe?

1Speaker 1
00:24:22.46 – 00:24:25.40

No baby Phoenix, different guy. Yeah, also spectacular.

00:24:25.92 – 00:24:46.62

Um, I like what he was doing, which was playing the too much time for Pennix, which will then actually leave too much time for Bo Nix. At the end of the game. And he ended up being right about that decision. Well, it was like, that's not why they, that's not necessarily why they lost that game. They lost the game because Bo Nix didn't get the ball into the end zone or close enough on the final drive, and that's why they lost.

00:24:46.78 – 00:24:47.16

I'm fine.

2Speaker 2
00:24:47.36 – 00:24:48.28

They lost because their kicker sucks.

1Speaker 1
00:24:48.34 – 00:24:48.82

I'm fine.

2Speaker 2
00:24:48.96 – 00:24:50.58

Well, yeah, that was a 40 yard or 40.

00:24:50.66 – 00:24:51.48

That is close enough.

1Speaker 1
00:24:51.56 – 00:24:58.94

You should make it, that's that's maybe 40 yard, or you should make. And maybe if Dan Lanning had trusted their kicker to go for three points at the end of the first half, he would have made that.

2Speaker 2
00:24:59.06 – 00:25:20.24

I just I'm totally fine with trying to win the game right there, especially with how good Washington's offense is. And speaking of Washington's offense, I've heard the analogy be made and I kind of like it, uh, they still have a lot of schedule left, like they have a couple of weeks where they should win easily. Arizona State and Stanford. But then they have to go on the road to USC, they also have to go on the road to Oregon State.

00:25:20.30 – 00:25:44.34

Second, last weekend, people are starting to say, is Wash or the Washington Huskies? Similar to the 2019 LSU Tigers? In the fact that their offense is absolutely electric and their defense maybe is getting good enough now, I think there's there were more pros on the LSU 2019 team. But I always love whenever we're like, Hey, look, this has happened before, maybe it's going to happen again.

1Speaker 1
00:25:44.50 – 00:25:57.02

It happened last year. I was guilty of this with the Tennessee volunteers, with their offense, but their offense, I feel like, I don't know. I haven't looked at the numbers compared to the Huskies this year, but I feel like the Tennessee offense was better than this Washington Huskies.

2Speaker 2
00:25:57.10 – 00:26:00.30

I don't know this. Washington. They're both very, very good.

1Speaker 1
00:26:00.30 – 00:26:21.00

And I learned a valuable lesson last year, which was, don't compare anybody to the 2019 LSU team until they win a national championship. And then and then you can do the comparisons in retrospect, like we'd never thought that we would compare, you know, any team to those U.S.C teams. With Reggie Bush, Lindale White, Matt Liner, those guys, there've been a lot of great college offenses. I'm going to wait until all the facts come out.

00:26:21.20 – 00:26:22.12

How does that sound?

2Speaker 2
00:26:22.22 – 00:26:30.42

I saw a stat, I got to try to find it. I think it's Washington is averaging like something like 8.7 yards per play, something ridiculous.

1Speaker 1
00:26:30.56 – 00:26:31.74

It's insane, it's insane.

2Speaker 2
00:26:31.86 – 00:26:45.96

But yeah, and this was a game that a lot of people had. Oregon winning because Oregon's defense is better than Washington's defense and Washington's defense played tough. And like, if they can round into form again, I, I'm, I'm also, so I agree with you, don't ever compare. I would say I saw it.

00:26:45.98 – 00:27:04.16

I saw people comparing it, I'm not comparing it because it's still the Pack 12 and there's still probably going to be some cannibalization of themselves. Like, there were like, what, what if you had to ask me what the most likely thing is? Washington catches a loss, maybe two losses, and then beats Oregon in a rematch, and then they all are out.

1Speaker 1
00:27:04.38 – 00:27:25.68

I feel like Oregon State is going to be a very tough game for for a Washington. Yeah, I feel like that's, that's, that's one that you can't sleep on at all, but yeah, I. It'd also be interesting to go back and look and see how the Bengals offense performed after the comparisons to the LSU 2019 team came out. If, like, Tennessee started getting all that clout, and then Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase were like, Hey, fuck that.

00:27:25.74 – 00:27:28.68

Let's just remind them how good we are. Yeah, and then they have an extra thing.

2Speaker 2
00:27:29.02 – 00:27:43.04

If you go just pros, there's there were, there were, probably. Although Washington will have a couple of first round picks, few first round picks. They have a couple of two insane wide receivers, they have a really good edge, rusher like, I don't know, they're playing good ball, it's fun.

00:27:43.24 – 00:27:44.14

And it was, I like it.

1Speaker 1
00:27:44.22 – 00:28:00.18

It was very cool to see the Washington Student section rush the field. There were probably like 25, 30,000 kids on the field at that game after it was over. Looked kind of scary. And again, I'm always in favor of storming the field if you're, if you're in college, have fun, storm the field whenever you want, enjoy yourself.

00:28:00.32 – 00:28:03.18

But there's starting to be like natural consequences to storming a field.

2Speaker 2
00:28:03.24 – 00:28:07.02

Well, which is, players who stormed the field at Notre Dame was a douchebag.

1Speaker 1
00:28:07.20 – 00:28:07.84

Deserved it, yes.

2Speaker 2
00:28:07.84 – 00:28:12.70

That was a that was a douchebag. He went up to Caleb Williams, like, where's your fit? where's your finger paint now? Where's your finger paint now?

00:28:12.90 – 00:28:38.68

Um, I really do think that Caleb Williams, like every player, if if a fan goes up to you and talk shit. After a devastating loss, uh, you have like a 10 second period where you can just open hand, slap them, not punch. We're civilized, but I think that that would actually, if that just became a law and a rule. Cause then fans would start acting accordingly and it would be sick if we just got to see a couple of fans just get open hand slapped.

1Speaker 1
00:28:38.94 – 00:28:51.28

I like the idea of an open hand slap. My my idea was that you should be allowed to do anything that's legal during a football game. To a fan that gets up in your face. So you can tackle them. Yeah, as long as you don't go high, no targeting The targeting rule still applies.

2Speaker 2
00:28:51.28 – 00:28:53.38

You could do targeting and then just get ejected.

1Speaker 1
00:28:53.38 – 00:28:56.48

That's true. Yeah, you can get post game ejected from from being on the field.

2Speaker 2
00:28:56.60 – 00:28:59.76

But Caleb Williams had. He couldn't do anything there, and the kid was just in his face.

1Speaker 1
00:28:59.94 – 00:29:06.54

Yeah, douchebag. It happened with an LSU player the other day, too. It's just a nature is healing moment when they shove those kids back, yeah.

00:29:06.58 – 00:29:13.80

So if you go on the field, just be, you have to deal with the consequences of all your actions. But yeah, it was cool to see Washington have a good time out there.

2Speaker 2
00:29:14.00 – 00:29:28.78

If I'll say this right now, if a player in a Power Five conference, they've. They rushed the field and A and A players provoked in the way that Caleb Williams was provoked, and they open hand slap the state, the the fan. I will help if they get arrested.

1Speaker 1
00:29:29.06 – 00:29:31.12

I'll match, Okay, I'll match, so there it is.

2Speaker 2
00:29:31.18 – 00:29:43.72

Yeah, but it has to be exactly the same situation. It has to be a a fan being a true douchebag to the player, not just running by the player or anything like that. You'll see every now and then we're like, a fan will be running and a player will just start like elbowing.

00:29:43.82 – 00:29:50.48

That's not, it has to be a direct. You got in the player's face, player slapped you. We are defending the player.

1Speaker 1
00:29:50.62 – 00:30:03.18

Yeah, and also if you're, if you're a college student, rushing the field, don't ruin it for everybody, right? If too much of this stuff happens, then they'll start to ban it and they'll they'll take it very seriously. Like most SEC schools will gladly pay the a hundred thousand dollars or whatever it is.

00:30:03.18 – 00:30:04.68

If it means they get a huge home upset.

2Speaker 2
00:30:04.82 – 00:30:21.00

It also made it worse knowing that Notre Dame kicked the shit out of USC. So that kid was planning on saying that for a very long time. If it was a spur of the moment last second play, then I think it just becomes like, Hey, everyone lost their mind. But he was sitting there for the entire fourth quarter. I mean, USC got demolished.

00:30:21.24 – 00:30:35.76

Caleb Williams looked very mortal. Probably out of the Heisman race, I'd say, definitely out of the Heisman race, which speaking of which the Heisman is going to be a quarterback. I think that's official. Brock bowers out for four to six weeks, which I don't know.

00:30:35.92 – 00:30:38.70

I I think he should probably just get ready for the draft.

1Speaker 1
00:30:38.90 – 00:30:39.60

If I were him, I would.

2Speaker 2
00:30:39.70 – 00:30:41.18

He's already won two national titles.

1Speaker 1
00:30:41.38 – 00:30:42.14

If I were him, I would absolutely.

2Speaker 2
00:30:42.26 – 00:30:48.12

The scary thing is, what are you looking at? Memes? memes is a Georgia fan? You don't like what we're saying, you don't like what we're saying.

00:30:48.38 – 00:30:52.10

I think maybe SEC Championship game, I would say, don't rush coming back.

1Speaker 1
00:30:52.26 – 00:31:13.26

Brock Bowers As somebody with a Tennessee and an Alabama future, um, and a Texas future. I would say Brock Bowers needs to do the right thing for his future, his own future, and not rush back. Let's let's take it slow. We don't want to have any. Any blips where you go into the combine and you're still a little bit nicked up, so just take it easy.

00:31:13.34 – 00:31:30.26

Take it easy, Brock, I believe in you. Brock is probably the best prospect, uh, at the tight end position since Gronk, I would imagine, um, and he's won two national titles too. And I'm sure that they've got two or three guys behind them. That can step in and not be brock bowers, but probably be better than 99 of all other college tight ends.

00:31:30.26 – 00:31:37.34

Yes, so yeah, brock, please, for it's for your own good. this is about me. it's not about my money for your own good. Just kind of chill out for a little.

2Speaker 2
00:31:37.42 – 00:31:44.80

Why is Max wearing a tank top? It's all that sweat, put the camera on Max, show the sweat, show the sweat.

1Speaker 1
00:31:44.82 – 00:31:46.54

It's not sweat, it's got hot in here.

2Speaker 2
00:31:46.60 – 00:31:47.38

No, show the sweat.

1Speaker 1
00:31:47.52 – 00:31:53.26

I put a t-shirt on, Okay, you looked like Matt Ryan the other day up in the booth. It's fucking hot as dick over here, it's hot as dick.

2Speaker 2
00:31:53.54 – 00:32:16.04

Uh, the yeah, so it's going to be a quarterback winning, winning the, uh, Heisman, it's going to either be Michael Penix. Uh, by the way. Maybe Jaden Daniels, maybe Jordan Travis, maybe J.J. McCarthy. Because Michigan hasn't played anyone yet, but he has played good ball. Uh, but yeah, it feels like we can pretty. Maybe even Dylan Gabriel, if if the Sooners don't lose.

1Speaker 1
00:32:16.22 – 00:32:26.84

Yeah, or, I mean, Quinn Ewers, if he just gets on fire real quick, he's got the name. UM, and being at Texas would certainly help. But, uh, yeah, it's good. This is an awesome college football season.

2Speaker 2
00:32:26.90 – 00:32:36.04

It's great because there was, there was some kind of, I don't know what it was. There was some, uh, congressional hearing. Basically the worst people alive, uh, have opinions.

1Speaker 1
00:32:36.24 – 00:32:37.28

You see what Joe Manchin said?

2Speaker 2
00:32:37.36 – 00:32:45.34

Oh, we have a couple, so I'll read a couple. Yeah, it's they're so stupid, uh. First, Lindsey Graham said, Utah is offering everybody on the team a new truck.

00:32:45.46 – 00:33:02.42

There's no end to this between the portal and Nil. College football is an absolute chaos. That's a guy who doesn't watch college football. It's been an awesome season and the kids getting paid is not a bad thing. And then Joe mentioned said, It's hard to root for the kids when they're multimillionaires as freshmen and sophomores.

00:33:02.82 – 00:33:03.66

No, it's not.

1Speaker 1
00:33:03.78 – 00:33:19.82

I would, I would like to hear Joe Manchin explain why, right? Why? In his opinion, is it hard for him to root for kids who are making money? Also, if you unpack that to a deep enough level, he is just completely in the wrong about everything. They're, they're 18 years old, they have a job.

00:33:19.94 – 00:33:43.92

They, they generate millions of dollars. As a guy from West Virginia, who there are a lot of coaches that are from West Virginia. That would probably not like hearing a senator from West Virginia say that. I'm thinking about Nick Saban in Alabama. If you're a guy from West Virginia, you should probably not be giving away your state's home prides like a competitive advantage.

2Speaker 2
00:33:44.18 – 00:34:08.38

Not only that, but it's always so weird to me and not to get the political. But like a lot of these guys who are making these statements, I would assume are are hardcore capitalists. We have a product that makes a ton of money and kids that are exceptional at what they do, why shouldn't they make money? They're not. If it was, every kid goes to college and is a millionaire, yeah, that would probably be an issue.

00:34:08.66 – 00:34:11.12

They, they do things that no one else can do.

1Speaker 1
00:34:11.32 – 00:34:16.10

Another way to say what Joe Manchin just said is so can the other student athletes that don't make money?

2Speaker 2
00:34:16.28 – 00:34:26.76

Well, because they don't have a product that makes a ton of money, like eyeballs watch. Football stadiums are packed, people are buying the product, I get it.

1Speaker 1
00:34:26.98 – 00:34:27.28

Yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:34:27.32 – 00:34:33.94

I would love for some of the other athletes to get an AL deals, which I think they are, but their sports don't make the same amount of money.

1Speaker 1
00:34:34.16 – 00:34:35.48

They generate revenue.

2Speaker 2
00:34:35.86 – 00:34:40.32

It is true, bring in a ton of money. If you bring in a lot of money, you get to, you get paid a lot of money.

1Speaker 1
00:34:40.36 – 00:34:51.96

But what I would like to hear Joe Manchin explain is, uh, because this is the crux of his argument. He enjoys watching college football when players are poor, yeah, when they don't have any money, yeah.

00:34:52.24 – 00:34:53.62

Why? why?

2Speaker 2
00:34:53.92 – 00:34:54.64

Why amateurism?

1Speaker 1
00:34:54.68 – 00:35:05.14

Is is there anything, anything in life where you're like, you know what I really? I? I? Um, I like the person that cuts my hair, my barber's great. I just wish you had a little bit less money to spend.

2Speaker 2
00:35:05.30 – 00:35:05.90

It's it.

1Speaker 1
00:35:06.18 – 00:35:07.70

I wish he couldn't take care of his family.

2Speaker 2
00:35:07.84 – 00:35:24.90

It's just these guys telling on themselves that they don't actually watch the sport because it rules and college football is chaos. And I think, uh, Herb Street even said it, I love the NFL. Herb Street loves the NFL. What we saw at Washington, Oregon, on Saturday doesn't happen in the NFL.

00:35:24.92 – 00:35:39.30

No, like that just doesn't. It's and it's just there's a difference in in the fan bases and how people, uh, cheer for their team and the and the fans. The kids going on the on the field like, that's a crazy scene that those kids will remember forever.

00:35:39.38 – 00:35:59.00

And Washington fans will remember forever. It's it's crazy, it's they don't watch the sport, so they should not get. We should actually, like any politician who wants to talk about college football, we should like Johnny Mansell. Like, watch their iPad to see how much they're watching. If you don't watch more than five hours of college football on the Saturday, you don't get to have an opinion.

1Speaker 1
00:35:59.22 – 00:36:00.68

Zero, hours, zero.

2Speaker 2
00:36:01.18 – 00:36:02.06

Yeah, that's how much they're watching.

1Speaker 1
00:36:02.28 – 00:36:09.90

Next time I'm eating a pizza, I'm going to be like, you know what? This pizza would taste so much better. If the guy that made it couldn't afford daycare for his kids, yeah, that would make me so happy.

2Speaker 2
00:36:09.94 – 00:36:12.04

Yeah, cause then he'd really put everything into it.

1Speaker 1
00:36:12.12 – 00:36:17.30

I got one other thing about about the SEC in particular, because this is, uh, Alabama.

2Speaker 2
00:36:17.30 – 00:36:18.42

Is definitely going to win the SEC.

1Speaker 1
00:36:18.52 – 00:36:25.76

It's a storyline that's bubbling up and it bubbles up occasionally. But I think we need to talk about a little bit. Jimbo Fisher and his buyout.

2Speaker 2
00:36:25.86 – 00:36:26.12

Yes.

1Speaker 1
00:36:26.16 – 00:36:37.50

I'd like to talk about a looming buyout, or a buyout that's out there. What is it now? Like? Probably 80, $90 million to buy him out of his contract, and, um, so much of Jimbo Fisher's buyout.

00:36:37.50 – 00:37:00.06

And whether or not they actually do end up buying him out of that cause right now, the often sucks at Texas A&M. Jimbo Fisher He should be. He's being paid like he's the best offensive coach in the NCAA and he's just not. Um, so much of whether or not the the boosters at A and M pony up for. The buyout depends on what the price of oil is worldwide, because that's all oil money.

00:37:00.06 – 00:37:18.96

In college Station, they've got so many alumni, so many boosters that are so heavily leveraged in. What the oil market looks like, and right now, the price of oil. I actually reached out to our friend Bunky Perkins, who's in the oil business, oil and gas business, so he's about as connected in this as anybody. Right now, the price of oil is about 85 $86 a barrel, which is pretty good.

00:37:19.26 – 00:37:36.80

They're making good money in college station. Um, once it gets up to, like, a hundred, that's when they have literal, fuck you money. That's when the oil kings start to get crazy and do all the shit that they would prefer not to be reported on for. But I'm setting a price target right now, I'm setting a personal price target.

00:37:37.04 – 00:37:44.30

If oil reaches $95 a barrel, then I predict that Jimbo Fisher will get bought out of his contract.

2Speaker 2
00:37:44.70 – 00:37:45.94

Okay, I like that.

1Speaker 1
00:37:45.94 – 00:38:07.84

And with, like all the instability overseas, who knows what happens with Egypt, with Saudi Arabia? If they get involved in a in the war over there, then oil is going to go like through the roof. So in a in a weird way like. That directly affects whether or not Jimbo Fisher is stinking rich without a job, or if he's still getting paid and doing a poor job. Coaching, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:38:08.04 – 00:38:29.82

So Texas A&m to me, most delusional fan base in college football, uh, craziest fan base. Because of all the Yell leaders, every time a Yell Leader video comes out, it's like, What the fuck, why do they keep putting these out? And I know that you should aspire to be great, so I'm not saying that you shouldn't. But Texas A&M and Jimbo Fisher is getting paid a lot of money. Why is it?

00:38:29.82 – 00:38:37.84

The Texas A&M thinks that they are a perennial 10 11 win team joining football. He did it once, Dude, I know, I know.

00:38:37.84 – 00:38:48.62

I know the since 2000, how many times has Texas A&m 10 games or more to once? Johnny Football?

1Speaker 1
00:38:48.62 – 00:38:49.54

McGee didn't do it.

2Speaker 2
00:38:49.84 – 00:38:57.00

No one. They are a good football program, they're a nine win team, they're an eight win team. JiMBO Fisher Last year was a disaster.

00:38:57.00 – 00:39:09.12

I agree with that. If you want to say, hey, five and seven is unacceptable, totally agree. But Jimbo Fisher has gone nine and four, eight and five, nine and one, eight and four, like he has done what Texas A&M does.

00:39:09.18 – 00:39:12.56

They win eight, nine games, they don't win 10 games.

1Speaker 1
00:39:12.80 – 00:39:30.20

Yeah, I think it has something to do with the fact that they also claim, like, four national championships before things counted. Do you remember that they had to take down a bunch of, like conference championships from the side of Kyle Field that they put up? When they first did the renovations on it? They had to take them down because they got bullied too hard for claiming non-existent championships.

2Speaker 2
00:39:30.40 – 00:39:44.76

Yeah, when they were in the Southwest Concert Conference in the early nineties. They had a stretch where they won 10 games a year. Like five years in a row. But since then, since 1995, they have won over 10 games twice, they won 10 games.

00:39:44.84 – 00:40:01.90

They won 11 games in 1998 and then Johnny Football. It's just a very funny like to I. Again, you should aspire to be great. But to pretend like Texas A&M is like, we deserve to be winning 10 games, we should be winning 10, 11 games. That's just not what has happened in history.

1Speaker 1
00:40:01.90 – 00:40:11.90

It's more realistic to have done that in either the Southwestern Conference or in the Big 12, right in the SEC. Like, you wanted this, and it's going to be way, way harder.

2Speaker 2
00:40:11.90 – 00:40:16.44

To do that here and you're out, okay? Two more things I want to talk about college football real quick.

00:40:16.82 – 00:40:28.92

One that was a terrible Colorado loss. Yep, 29 nothing at halftime. Uh, that Stanford wide receiver was El Elm main, or I can't remember his name. What is his name?

00:40:29.00 – 00:40:34.02

Ayo manor, ayo manor. Oh, unbelievable second half, incredible.

00:40:34.18 – 00:40:44.06

Second half, Uh, Colorado is probably going to miss a bowl now, doing the math, Colorado, it's going to be close, could probably miss a bowl.

00:40:44.14 – 00:40:50.92

Now that was an inexcusable loss, really, really bad. So they have, they are right now, I believe. What's their record?

00:40:51.30 – 00:40:52.60

They're three and three.

1Speaker 1
00:40:52.70 – 00:41:01.18

Can we still go back to what we said at the start of the season that if Deon Sanders has like a four game improvement, it'll be a miracle? Yeah, he did that, just slide the.

2Speaker 2
00:41:01.18 – 00:41:12.52

Expectations they play at UCLA, they have Oregon State at home, Arizona at home, WHO Arizona has been playing really good ball at Washington State and at Utah, so they're going to have to win.

00:41:12.64 – 00:41:19.70

They have to win two more ranked game, yeah, they have to win two more of those, so that's going to be very, very tough to do. That could have been the bowl.

00:41:19.74 – 00:41:28.58

Like, that couldn't switch it right there. That was a must win. Yeah, that was a must win for DNA and they, and it was very bad. And then the other thing, okay.

00:41:28.64 – 00:41:36.64

So Wisconsin lost Iowa. Mordecai got hurt, sucks. I'm I've taken a very long-term approach with Luke Fickle, so I'm not gonna freak out.

00:41:36.74 – 00:42:04.00

It's more about the fact that, even though their arrival, I love this Iowa team so much. Because they make people so angry, so bad. They are truly back to mad about Iowa. Like people. If I will runs a table and they're 11 and one, people are going to be so, so angry about them playing in the Big 10 Championship game. They are, I have this, this, this guy puts out a great graph every week.

00:42:04.00 – 00:42:25.42

That essentially is like, how bad did you get beat? So it will be like, you know, this is the this is the EPA, or whatever it was, the opponent, and then how bad you got beat. Iowa multiple times this year has won games where they got beat, like in all the statistical categories. And it's so funny because people get so mad about Iowa and I love it so much.

1Speaker 1
00:42:25.50 – 00:42:47.72

There's just so, so boring and so bad on offense, but they figure out a way to win and it's hilarious. So the note I had about Iowa was that I'm officially rooting for an 11 and one Iowa team who would probably be ranked. I thought, if Iowa goes 11 and one. And they continue to win games in the same way that they've been winning, what do you think they're? They're into? The season ranking would be probably like nine or 10..

00:42:47.82 – 00:42:50.68

Yeah, well, it will be, they'll.

2Speaker 2
00:42:50.68 – 00:42:59.32

Get blown out in the Big 10 Championship game, so that's the thing is, like, the matter. Well, I mean, they already, they already got smoked by Penn State. It'd be so funny if they didn't.

1Speaker 1
00:42:59.32 – 00:43:04.82

Though, yeah, I guess it's tough to beat a team twice. Well, not really. When. Penn State.

2Speaker 2
00:43:04.82 – 00:43:15.50

Beat him what 31? Nothing, it would just be the guy who even got like it. I would confidently say they're going to get blown out in the in the Big 10 title game. Which is actually makes it even funnier that people are mad about Iowa.

00:43:15.50 – 00:43:28.76

Because if you're someone who is mad about Iowa, you know at the end of the road you have your satisfying, like judgment day. Just be patient. But people get so mad about Iowa. I just love the fact that they're.

1Speaker 1
00:43:28.76 – 00:43:44.24

Going to be. They're going to have one win on their schedule and, or, excuse me, one loss on their schedule. And they're going to still be ranked. Like in the twenties for a very long time. Because it's the best it is. It's very funny football to watch, and if you don't, if you don't appreciate the ridiculousness that is Iowa football, then you're not a college.

2Speaker 2
00:43:44.24 – 00:43:49.56

Football fan It's also like, Yeah, okay, so you're mad about Iowa because they don't play offense? Well, guess what?

00:43:49.60 – 00:43:55.80

They do defense and special teams, elite. That's two thirds of the game. They found they've hacked the system. Offense is irrelevant.

00:43:56.18 – 00:44:00.74

You can just win games at the Big 10 West by just playing defense and special teams. Yeah, it's like.

1Speaker 1
00:44:00.74 – 00:44:05.92

They remind me of the giants from last year a little bit. Yeah, New York Giants. I. I love watching Iowa football.

00:44:06.02 – 00:44:16.26

I, and by watching it, I mean, like, having it on the second screen. And then continuing to look over at the score. And being like, Oh, they're punting again and they're up by three, Oh, they're punting again now, they're up by seven and then they're.

2Speaker 2
00:44:16.26 – 00:44:25.48

Just up by seven for the rest of the game. Listen, they've released the ratings for this weekend for all the games played. Wisconsin, Iowa, had like 2.4 million people watching.

1Speaker 1
00:44:25.48 – 00:44:30.16

It, it was like eighth on the list. There's a lot of sickos out there. Yeah, those are.

3Speaker 3
00:44:30.16 – 00:44:33.94

My people over under is 32 and a half this week against Minnesota. I love that, yeah.

1Speaker 1
00:44:33.94 – 00:44:40.80

That's going to be a great game. Yeah, and you're a psycho. If you take the over, yeah, I might take the over. Jessica's just to fuck around.

00:44:41.02 – 00:44:42.40

It's a feel alive. Well, it's hilarious.

2Speaker 2
00:44:42.52 – 00:44:57.54

Cause if you take that over, you are actually you, you not hoping for. You need a defensive or special teams. yeah, you need a punt block, you can't get that over without a defensive special teams. And you probably need to, might need to, probably need to at least one one.

1Speaker 1
00:44:57.54 – 00:45:07.10

Touchdown and at least a short field. I'm going to stand up real quick for my James Madison Dukes, cause they are playing tomorrow night against Marshall. That's a Thursday night Sunbelt game should be a good one.

00:45:07.46 – 00:45:31.94

A very tough game for the Dukes. By no means are we counting this as a win if you're a JMU fan. But if they do win the skate, the schedule does shake out pretty favorably for them for the rest of the season. And the Sunbelt, where, again, they would not be eligible for the postseason because of a dog shit rule. But there's a chance that we could see a JMU team with like one loss, or maybe no losses by the end of the season. And they would not be invited to a Bowl game.

00:45:32.00 – 00:45:42.78

And that is horseshit. It's the dumbest rule ever. It's designed because they don't want a team to jump up to FBS when they have a good roster and then jump right back down. That's fine, okay?

00:45:42.84 – 00:45:57.98

Then punish the teams that go back down, when they go back down, take something away from them at that point, but if you go up and you continue to compete. They won the Sunbelt last year, they won their division, the Sunbelt, even though it wasn't recognized. And the Sunbelt is probably the best group of five conference in football right now.

00:45:58.18 – 00:46:13.00

If they win that again, and especially if they have one or zero losses, it's. It's such bullshit that you won't let the students, the kids, play in a game and you're punishing the institution as a whole. When, in reality, the biggest impact by far is on the kids that won't get to play.

2Speaker 2
00:46:13.08 – 00:46:22.12

Yeah, no, it's dumb, we had this discussion last year, it's dumb, it's it makes no sense. Um, and when you say you don't want to get ahead of yourself, I've heard you many times in private say that they're going to go undefeated.

00:46:22.20 – 00:46:25.84

No, I never. no, I never said they're going to go undefeated. you said to me yesterday, you're like, if they're undefeated.

1Speaker 1
00:46:25.84 – 00:46:34.16

We invite them to the Arizona Bowl. Wrong, wrong, I said, I said, I said that, and I said, there's a lot of season left, so there's a lot of season left.

00:46:34.16 – 00:46:38.86

How does the Barstow Bowl say? If they go undefeated, can we invite an undefeated JMU?

2Speaker 2
00:46:39.02 – 00:46:43.22

Imagine, imagine, we'll count ourselves national champions. I will, I will, I know, I'll do the use.

00:46:43.22 – 00:46:46.62

I know you will cause you we. You said that I'll hang a banner, but I'm not getting.

1Speaker 1
00:46:46.62 – 00:46:51.04

Ahead of myself, like I said, good chance we lose at Marshall, that's a hard game.

2Speaker 2
00:46:51.08 – 00:46:53.66

It's a very hard game on Thursday for people at home. He does not think they're going to lose.

1Speaker 1
00:46:53.66 – 00:47:04.46

I think if we could get JMU football into the Barstow Sports Basketball Invitational, they could win. Uh, probably not, that's it. It's a great, great Mississippi State's a good team.

00:47:04.54 – 00:47:16.40

Sister Jean Probably not, but if it was in the Barstow Bowl, I could see that. I could see them winning Barstow Bowl being. When she won the winner of the Barstow Bowl this year, to be declared national champions, Yeah, think about it.

00:47:16.40 – 00:47:25.08

With JMU, you got the UCF possibility, so they are undefeated. This is a repeat of the conversation. You can't help but think, Allow me to be excited.

00:47:25.18 – 00:47:32.16

I'm so excited. No, listen, I think you should think this. I just don't want you to delude the audience and be like, I'm not thinking they're going to go on, you are thinking, which is great.

I want them to. I would love for you to make national championships. I'm planning ahead. You cause. We had the conversation multiple times the last couple of days, I was like.

1Speaker 1

00:48:51.22 – 00:49:06.16

My house is pft. Oh, why? It's just, you know, it's been a been a been a few weeks. A lot of, a lot of time has passed and I've just noticed that body is is as clean as ever. What are you talking about, Hank?

00:49:06.54 – 00:49:13.94

Talking about tattoos? Oh, okay, well, how long it's been? what a week and a half, uh, I was in New York for surviving.

00:49:14.58 – 00:49:29.84

I was in New York for surviving Barstow, then I was in Knoxville playing a concert with Pup Punk at Bojangles, and now I'm back. I just got back into town. I I'd like you to tell me when, when you think I should have gotten my tattoo. Hank Henry at some point, yeah.

00:49:29.84 – 00:49:43.32

I mean, we could have had someone come come to the Come to the office in New York. We've done that before. At a rock show is actually like, the ultimate time. Yeah, that's awesome. Backstage at a at a Bojangles, yeah.

00:49:43.72 – 00:49:54.36

Or you get the Zach Martin or the Zach Wilson tattoo. At least finalize what you're going to get. I cause that will tell me what I need to know. I have not finalized what I'm going to get. So you're right.

00:49:54.44 – 00:50:02.34

Hank's right hand up, I. I've been slacking on that, but now I'm back in, I'm back in tattoo mode. So, um, I will have this conversation, yeah.

00:50:03.64 – 00:50:14.92

Thank you Hank, I owe you one. I will have my decision by Friday's show when I'm getting for my tattoo. That's a promise to you guys. Can we wait to do it in the new office so that we can make it during the stream?

00:50:15.48 – 00:50:24.08

Can we? Yeah, we should do it during the Hank and Max live stream? Oh, okay, is that what you were saying? Hank? Yeah, you forgot to do that.

00:50:25.06 – 00:50:27.62

Yeah, oh, good point, good point, big cat, by the way.

2Speaker 2
00:50:27.64 – 00:50:30.32

We already have a date for baseball, so we're set.

00:50:32.10 – 00:50:39.38

You, you were the one that wouldn't let us do it. Yeah, well, we have to do it in the new office, right? But yeah, but you also want us to do.

1Speaker 1
00:50:39.46 – 00:50:42.32

You want to get out of it. Max made a good point that I should wait until we're in the.

2Speaker 2
00:50:42.32 – 00:50:46.86

New office to do it. Max, you're right, which will be next week, next two, next Wednesday.

00:50:49.38 – 00:50:56.52

It's exciting, okay? Next Wednesday's show will be, Uh, the first uh of a new era. Pardon my.

1Speaker 1
00:50:56.52 – 00:51:06.40

Take, I might, I might get a Tramp stamp. How about that? I'll. I'll have the answer by Friday. Uh, DM at part of my take on Instagram or on, uh, on Twitter.

00:51:06.40 – 00:51:21.80

X If you, if you are a tattoo artist in Chicago and you would like to work with us, or, if you know a good tattoo artist. DM that account and then we'll find an account. And I will have my decision made by Friday. Then I will get the tattoo as soon as we get to the new office. When Hank and Max do their live.

2Speaker 2
00:51:21.80 – 00:51:27.30

Stream I that reminded me, Oh no, what are you going to say? Hot seat me?

00:51:27.88 – 00:51:33.44

The weddings, The weddings was a mistake. it was a mistake. Okay, I made a mistake.

00:51:33.44 – 00:51:45.16

Credit to me for realizing in the moment that it was a mistake, but I still said it. Discredit to me for still saying it. The weddings was a mistake. We got a million wedding invites and we will. That will not stop.

1Speaker 1
00:51:46.00 – 00:51:55.26

Everyone that listens to the show when they're having a wedding, oh, I remember them talking, I took a wedding, be playing their wedding, oh, I remember when they were talking about it. They want to get invited, we should invite them.

00:51:55.54 – 00:52:05.26

And we're not going, I actually think that it would be. It would be a terrible move for a guy to invite us to the wedding. Because your future wife is going to absolutely despise you for it, well.

2Speaker 2
00:52:05.34 – 00:52:09.18

The future wife's a listener. Yeah, there's female awls, too. The doctor is the mother.

1Speaker 1
00:52:09.32 – 00:52:17.98

I just saw all the DMs that I got with wedding invites. It was from the groom and I was just thinking to myself, like, are you sure that she's totally cool? No chance, no chance.

00:52:17.98 – 00:52:18.42

That's been.

2Speaker 2
00:52:18.42 – 00:52:26.52

Asked, Uh, yeah, I okay. mistake, mistake. that was a big mistake. We'll go to a divorce.

00:52:27.08 – 00:52:31.26

Yeah, we will, we'll go to a second wedding. Yeah, that actually would rock. second one is probably.

1Speaker 1
00:52:31.42 – 00:52:34.68

Don't say that why? because it's still the same thing as a wedding.

2Speaker 2
00:52:35.40 – 00:52:43.10

No, second, weddings are way more fun, I think, cause they're all like, we've done it if I've been to one, but it was only one of them.

00:52:43.32 – 00:53:00.70

Like, if I'm saying it has to be second wedding for both of them, cause then, you know, they probably like Jimmy Buffett theme swingers, probably like, fuck it. We made. We've made mistakes, but now this is for life. Won't be. They'll get divorced again, but we will go to a sec double second wedding.

1Speaker 1
00:53:00.92 – 00:53:12.22

We're also going to go to a bachelor party. What Jake's when he gets married? actually? that'll be very, that'll be very fun if Jake got engaged. And, uh, and then he hired us to plan his party for him.

00:53:12.26 – 00:53:15.00

And he was wildly uncomfortable with everything well.

2Speaker 2
00:53:16.46 – 00:53:29.30

Thank you, I appreciate that. I knew we'd be invited, but my question was how quickly, over under a minutes, or maybe it's hours, probably not hours, probably minutes, would we have? All of Jake's friends hate our guts.

00:53:29.48 – 00:53:37.38

No, they they love you guys for now. They would hate us, they would hate us so fast. Why? cause we like peer pressure.

00:53:37.50 – 00:53:42.64

Yeah, I know you guys want to, you guys want to go like, you know, play pickleball afternoon, how?

3Speaker 3
00:53:42.64 – 00:53:47.88

About we just do drugs. Yeah, they're going to be listening to this and texting me and being like.

1Speaker 1
00:53:48.34 – 00:53:52.78

We love them. I think I think Jake would actually leave the weekend hating us. Yeah, I think that.

2Speaker 2
00:53:52.78 – 00:54:00.28

Would be the end of maybe we should do a bachelor party for Jake without Jake. Oh, that sounds, and Jake's friends, just Jake, his J, just Jake's friends in us.

00:54:00.38 – 00:54:06.48

Wish you were here. Yeah, too bad you couldn't make it deal. There's going to be so much pickleball at your future.

00:54:06.64 – 00:54:07.40

No, yeah.

1Speaker 1
00:54:07.48 – 00:54:19.24

There will be just like an hour to break a sweat. Man. If you were, if you were to have a bachelor party this weekend, where would you choose? Uh, Scottsdale, pickleball capital of the world.

3Speaker 3
00:54:19.36 – 00:54:27.68

Golf, pickleball, some fun, good weather. I like that. Yeah, I'm in. Uh, Jake, would you like it?

2Speaker 2
00:54:27.94 – 00:54:37.60

I If you let us plan it, I'll go okay. Cause there would be like, I know you'd be like the pickleball and then the big dinner on Saturday night. I've said this a million times.

00:54:37.80 – 00:54:49.74

The big dinner on Saturday night is the worst part of every bachelor party. Don't do it, everyone gets drunk as fuck on Saturday. They have a great time and it's like, Hey, everyone, take a shower, put on a nice shirt. We're going to get sober real quick and go to a dinner.

00:54:49.84 – 00:54:55.92

And then everyone sits there, stuffs their face, feels like shit can't go out. Yeah, I learned it many times do.

3Speaker 3
00:54:55.92 – 00:54:59.42

The big dinner, the first night. You're the veterans, you got the ball, okay?

00:54:59.42 – 00:54:59.82

I'm, I'm.

2Speaker 2
00:54:59.82 – 00:55:03.74

Excited I would love to go to your bachelor party when it happens someday in the future.

1Speaker 1
00:55:03.74 – 00:55:12.22

Yes, okay, and the cool thing is, pat bev, yeah, pandering. pat bev. uh, coming one with Billy.

00:55:12.38 – 00:55:20.44

Well, he got, he got ejected. Max. This is a little, a little pandering, I think. I mean, don't talk about your coworker like that, you hate our coworkers, yeah.

00:55:20.62 – 00:55:29.92

I love Pat Bev. you already hate our friends. I love Pat Bev. This. He got kicked out of a Sixers game, uh, for fighting with Ben Simmons. So what's wrong with that?

00:55:30.04 – 00:55:31.46

Yeah, why is that pandering? Ben Simmons?

2Speaker 2
00:55:31.46 – 00:55:38.36

Bad guy Pat Bev, good guy, that max, that was probably the most well-spoken Max has ever been.

1Speaker 1
00:55:38.36 – 00:55:43.62

In his life, I love Pat Bev. I just, you know, it's all right, not pandering, sorry.

00:55:43.92 – 00:55:48.26

Sounds personal to me here, pandering is a bad word. He's on the cool throne, Philly's going to love him.

2Speaker 2
00:55:48.40 – 00:55:55.84

But what if it was pandering? He would wait until the regular season? No one was watching. Yeah, this is like characters during the Phillies game, and it was during the.

1Speaker 1
00:55:55.84 – 00:56:00.52

One night football game, it was like, it's who you are, when nobody's watching, right? Take it back, literally nobody was watching.

00:56:00.78 – 00:56:05.42

Sorry Pat. apology not accepted. No, he's on the cool throne, I put him on the fucking cool throne.

00:56:05.42 – 00:56:11.78

I don't think Pat would accept that apology. I put him on the cool Throne. Apology not accepted. The Cool Throne is a good place to be on behalf of Pat.

00:56:12.14 – 00:56:14.80

Fact sufficient, it is a good place to be. You'd rather be on the cool throne than the hot seat, I guess.

2Speaker 2
00:56:14.80 – 00:56:19.02

Probably Jake's on the cool throne. He invited us to his bachelor party. Fact, that's it.

1Speaker 1
00:56:19.52 – 00:56:23.66

Permanent cool Throne. You guys can come to mine too. I'm down.

2Speaker 2
00:56:28.68 – 00:56:34.00

What? No, this is the face that you just made. I was going to say, Yeah, I knew. Are we ever going to get married?

1Speaker 1
00:56:36.60 – 00:56:39.62

I can just see the thoughts right in your head right there.

00:56:41.20 – 00:56:53.64

I would expect to be invited to yours. How many days of golf are you going to play on yours? It's going to be a month. No, I'll be playing so much golf at that point that it'll be just partying. We had an extended.

2Speaker 2
00:56:53.64 – 00:57:00.44

Golf Conversation Today PFT that was was we, I won't say, but it was we have an extended golf.

1Speaker 1
00:57:00.44 – 00:57:05.42

Conversation right now, Hank is planning on. Debate was embraced. How to take a vacation from golf?

2Speaker 2
00:57:05.48 – 00:57:11.38

Okay, now we have to say the debate was embraced. PFT. We had an extended conversation. You gotta, you gotta say it all, though.

00:57:11.46 – 00:57:28.84

No, I'm going to say it all, Hank is essentially, uh. He's like, I'm going to work so hard in the winter. I'm going to crew so much golf time in the summer that I'm basically not going to work in the summer. Again. He wants to take Mondays and Fridays and Wednesdays. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

00:57:30.04 – 00:57:32.46

You said you'll be here Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday.

1Speaker 1
00:57:33.18 – 00:57:46.42

I'll be here to record the show and I, I see I'm a I'm a non-traditionalist. I believe. Like everyone in corporate America. Listening to their job, they have 40 hour work weeks, they work like 10, and then they have weekends and stuff. We don't have a job like that.

00:57:46.42 – 00:58:10.20

I do believe we have a 40 hour work week schedule, uh, across a 50 week timeline, 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year. Give you know, two weeks for Christmas, one week for July 4th. I don't think it matters when those 40 hours come as long as you, as long as you, that's the thing. I'd say. We work like 60 to 80, I know, and then, and and some of these weeks, I'm going to be working a hundred to 200, if that's even mathematically possible.

2Speaker 2
00:58:10.20 – 00:58:17.32

We we work so much is because our job is fun. I agree. Listen, all 68 hours a week.

1Speaker 1
00:58:17.42 – 00:58:25.14

All I said is that I'm going to work twice as hard as the winter, so I don't have to work. I can work twice at all in the summer, right? And then it all evens out.

00:58:25.28 – 00:58:30.96

Isn't this what you did, like you said that you were going to work really hard September and October too? Yeah, I haven't.

2Speaker 2
00:58:30.96 – 00:58:34.72

Golfed at all? I've barely golfed. It's fairly nice catch, nice catch.

00:58:34.78 – 00:58:52.92

Nice catch couple for work. My point to him was, Uh, in the football season, we have to work a lot because it's football season. In the off season is actually when we can start doing a lot more of the fun office stuff. And Hank was like, Well, what about golf? Well, we could do golf content.

00:58:54.28 – 00:58:59.48

That also was broached, where it was like, If I'm streaming in the golf simulator, that's work. I said, yes.

1Speaker 1
00:58:59.94 – 00:59:04.72

Yeah, the moral of the story is like, no one's going to work, no one in this room will be.

2Speaker 2
00:59:04.72 – 00:59:09.48

Working harder than me this winter, and then no, it'll be working less than you in the summer.

1Speaker 1
00:59:09.84 – 00:59:18.02

And that's how I think America was should be. That's the, you know, actually, you're European, you're, you're on the European. Yeah, that's true, you're, I mean, Europeans do it right.

00:59:18.08 – 00:59:26.20

They take midday naps, siestas, you're still, you're still on, like the the high school calendar. Yeah, where you work really hard, he works really hard.

00:59:26.20 – 00:59:33.10

September through, like early June, yeah, and then not at all of the summer break. Yes, yeah.

00:59:33.22 – 00:59:40.12

I actually don't disagree with that, cause that's like the most shocking thing about graduating from college. It's like, Wait, I don't get summers off anymore, this sucks, yeah.

00:59:40.44 – 00:59:41.40

I'm more like we.

2Speaker 2
00:59:41.50 – 00:59:45.64

We just spent a lot of money on this big office. I would like people to work in the summer and I'm.

1Speaker 1
00:59:45.82 – 00:59:51.66

I will on select days, but you can golf in the office, saying it's not the same, I know.

2Speaker 2
00:59:51.70 – 00:59:57.86

But travel and stuff, it's like, Oh, this was travel, trips. Yeah, oh, I didn't realize that.

1Speaker 1
00:59:57.96 – 01:00:07.84

So when you're going to fly out on on Thursday night and then come back Saturday night, like every weekend, no Sunday morning, Sunday morning, but you said you wanted Mondays, yeah.

2Speaker 2
01:00:07.96 – 01:00:12.24

So that would be like, go back out, that'd be, that'd be, that'd be local golf, that'd be local.

1Speaker 1
01:00:12.24 – 01:00:22.28

Golf. I also threw out the idea. I mean, Big cat is just like whatever I also, I work, I I, I'm setting a tone. I threw out a half days Friday, half days Monday.

01:00:22.44 – 01:00:23.36

He tried to kid shame.

2Speaker 2
01:00:23.36 – 01:00:31.48

Me too. He was like, you, I have golf, you have kids, I was like. But I work my schedule like I go home for two hours, put my kids to bed. I'll be, I'm back at the office whenever I need to.

1Speaker 1
01:00:31.48 – 01:00:40.10

Same hank, hank, except for Mondays and Fridays, and be willing to leave for two hours at a time if you make golf, right. Listen, I, I. This is not a conversation I thought we were going to.

2Speaker 2
01:00:40.10 – 01:00:43.80

Have the podcast. We were just, you know, it was a bracing debate. Yeah, we, we, we.

1Speaker 1
01:00:43.80 – 01:00:54.30

We actually found. The story, though, is that I will be when we're in this office and it's up and running, like, I will be there more than anyone. And then the weather's going to get nice. I'm going to be like, Damn, I work so hard.

01:00:54.34 – 01:00:57.24

I deserve some time off. It's like, No, no, no, no, no.

2Speaker 2
01:00:57.24 – 01:01:04.66

Right, we have a podcast outside today, right? I I we. We actually found a good middle ground, we said we're going to just take a wait and see approach.

01:01:04.66 – 01:01:15.96

Yeah, and that, uh, it, uh. Working hard in the winter doesn't equal getting to take the whole summer. So Hank is in a super strong.

1Speaker 1
01:01:15.96 – 01:01:50.70

Negotiating position right now. Because we know that if Hank's not happy, that he'll come in and he'll be grumpy at work. And then we'd be like, God damn, I wish Hank was out on the golf course instead of here bringing everybody down. So we know we already know what you're up to preemptively. Well, we, that's, that's your move, and this was part of it that that big head didn't really verbalize. Is like, I'm going to be working so hard, so hard this winter, creating so much streaming golf content on the simulator. That I'm going to have, like, I've gone so much better that I'm going to need to see how that replicates to the real game.

01:01:50.94 – 01:02:10.38

And the only reason that's happened is because I worked so hard in the winter. Like I. So, when you're saying that you're going to work harder than anybody in this office, you mean you're actually going to be playing more golf than anybody in the office. This winter time, correct? Uh, streaming content for the fans doing what? Golfing to make it crystal clear he's going to work so hard golfing this winter.

2Speaker 2
01:02:10.38 – 01:02:16.50

That he needs a break to golf this summer is what you just said. Okay, all right, hot seat, cool, throw a pft.

01:02:16.84 – 01:02:26.76

We did come to a very good understanding, I think we're in a good spot. It was, it was a, it was a healthy debate, that didn't. it didn't get bad, it was just, uh, circle back, yeah.

01:02:26.76 – 01:02:29.34

We'll circle back, we'll put a pin in it, Okay, we're going to put a pin.

1Speaker 1
01:02:29.34 – 01:02:31.98

In this all right PFT, your hot seat cool, okay?

01:02:32.02 – 01:02:40.54

My hot seat is, uh, the Chargers social media account. yeah, Chargers Twitter, uh, this is actually. It's unrelated to the woman that was on TV during Monday night football.

01:02:40.98 – 01:02:54.64

Um, jury's still out. Whether or not she's a plant or not, she claims that she's not. But there are pictures of her being a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan as well, allegedly. And um, her claim is that she moved from Minnesota to L.A. Now she's a diehard.

3Speaker 3
01:02:54.64 – 01:02:58.84

Charger fan I like the same team, though, like I have seen it actually kind of are a lot of points.

1Speaker 1
01:02:58.84 – 01:03:07.58

And disappoint, very disappointed. Somebody that, like, moved from Atlanta to L.A. and decided to become a Chargers fan. If there's anybody out there like that, God bless you, yeah.

01:03:07.62 – 01:03:21.82

I don't know how you're still alive. Um, but more specifically, I found this post. Uh, actually, Kinjak found this post on Chargers Twitter, so it's from a guy named Chargers Truther. And when I first saw this, I was like, this guy is ridiculous, but now I think there actually might be something to his point.

01:03:22.28 – 01:03:36.66

So he tweeted this out last week. This is going to upset some people. But if I was running the Chargers Twitter account, I'd cut back on the social media stuff. We're here to hit people in the face and be warriors, not make jokes and be funny. Let's be serious, I like that.

01:03:36.72 – 01:03:50.62

And then, um, somebody replied to him. The social media has zero to do with drafting, coaching and our plan in the field. Our social media team is legit, the best in the business, and they're doing a great job attracting people who don't even watch football to be interested in their content. Chargers truth or responded.

01:03:51.20 – 01:03:57.58

It affects team culture. Yeah, and now I think he might be right, he's absolutely. I think that the Chargers Twitter account is too funny.

01:03:57.84 – 01:04:06.42

He's absolutely, and it's resulted in actual on the field losses. Yeah, no, he's be serious. This is culture matters. Football is a serious game.

01:04:06.42 – 01:04:22.94

Yeah, okay, if you're asking, guys, hey, is water wet? When they come off the field, they're probably that's going to break their brains. And they're going to be thinking about that in the second half of the playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead of how to run a competent defense and keep the chargers or keep the chargers on the field.

01:04:23.00 – 01:04:42.34

And when the defense is on the field, not let Trevor Lawrence goose step all over you. I actually, I'm starting to think that charges truth, or he might be true. He's, he's right. When you look at the best teams in the NFL over the last 20 years. Patriots not great, not not like anything flashy on social media, right? They don't play those those gimmicky games.

01:04:42.46 – 01:04:49.54

No, steelers don't really do the gimmicky stuff. Alabama football, Alabama football. nope, they don't engage in that football, serious.

01:04:49.66 – 01:04:55.32

Yeah, not time for jokes. Yeah, it's Culture Center. So I actually, I actually think that charges truth or might be right.

01:04:55.38 – 01:05:06.50

It affects team culture. Yeah, agreed. And then my cool throne is Terrell Owens. So t o t o was playing pickup basketball.

01:05:06.50 – 01:05:22.02

I think this was yesterday. And, uh, he got into a fight while he was playing pickup and then after the game was over to the guy who was playing against. Drove a car into his leg, like, drove a car onto the court and hit T O in the knee and tried to run him over to yours. Fine. Didn't have to go to the hospital.

01:05:22.38 – 01:05:42.76

Um, but I think, uh, I think if you're playing pickup basketball against T. O, you're probably pretty sick of his shit. By the end of it. Yes, cause I would assume that he's just dunking on you constantly and reminding you that he's dunking on you constantly. I think you should be allowed to hit Terrell Owens in the knee with a car. Not injuring them, but just like enough to bruise them and spook them a little bit, you should be allowed to do that to Terrell Owens.

01:05:42.82 – 01:05:45.46

I'd agree, cause you can't, you can't do anything on the.

2Speaker 2
01:05:45.46 – 01:05:49.24

Court You can't DM up. Yeah, he definitely pissed some people off, but if he's fine.

1Speaker 1
01:05:49.84 – 01:05:54.04

No harm, no foul, no fun, exactly no blood, no foul. John Thompson would back him up.

01:05:54.30 – 01:05:58.88

He'd run him over and then back again over him, and as long as he didn't have anything broken, not a foul.

2Speaker 2
01:05:59.00 – 01:06:03.04

Yeah, I agree. T o just dominating people and pickup basketball is very funny, it's exactly.

1Speaker 1
01:06:03.04 – 01:06:06.92

What I would do if I was an athlete like him? I still think t o could suit up. Yeah, I think.

2Speaker 2
01:06:06.92 – 01:06:23.16

You'd get in the league, definitely. Um, all right, my hot seat is, uh, John Fisher, that fucking scumbag. From the A's Trevor May, who was a relief pitcher for the A's this year. He was on the Mets last year, did a live stream Twitch stream and he unloaded.

01:06:23.20 – 01:06:36.44

So he retired, and then he unloaded on John Fisher. Great rant, he said. Sell the team, dude, sell it. Uh, let someone who, actually, like, takes pride in the things they own, own something. There's actually people who give a shit about the game.

01:06:36.54 – 01:06:44.30

Let them do it, take mommy and daddy's money somewhere else. Dork A dork is always good. If you're going to be a greedy fuck, own it.

01:06:44.52 – 01:06:50.22

There's nothing weaker than being afraid of cameras. Do what you're going to do, bro, whatever you're a billionaire. They exist.

01:06:50.42 – 01:06:54.14

You guys have all the power, you shouldn't have any because you haven't earned any of it, but.

1Speaker 1
01:06:54.14 – 01:06:58.60

Anyway, whatever, yeah, I like it, I like it. Great retirement, yeah.

01:06:58.72 – 01:07:09.56

Probably the best retirement speech I've ever heard, calling a guy calling a billionaire door. I actually, I know that hurts him. Oh, for sure, I, I. I agree with the fact that, like John, Fisher doesn't seem to take pride in owning the athletics at all.

01:07:09.70 – 01:07:19.70

He takes pride in refreshing his bank account. It's like, Oh, the number went up today, and looking at parcels in Las Vegas, that's what he loves, he loves. Just being like, Oh, the value of my franchise went up, that's cool.

01:07:19.70 – 01:07:20.74

He doesn't care about what happens.

2Speaker 2
01:07:20.74 – 01:07:26.66

On the field, take mommy and daddy's money somewhere else door. It would suck, it would suck to play for an owner like that, yeah.

01:07:26.80 – 01:07:33.48

He's a piece of shit and a dork and a dork. My cool throne. Oh Jake. Oh Jake. Getting a call.

01:07:33.48 – 01:07:38.46

Who's your phone? This is my dad. Oh, I'm going to take it. No, it's all right. Tell him, what up?

01:07:38.60 – 01:07:40.04

Tell him, what up will he be at the bachelor party?

1Speaker 1
01:07:40.80 – 01:07:45.24

Yeah, his dad would, I don't think he could. Yeah, he could, yeah.

01:07:45.52 – 01:07:49.12

Your mom could come too, if she wanted. I didn't say it, nope.

01:07:51.42 – 01:07:53.06

I was just being, I was just being inclusive.

2Speaker 2
01:07:53.06 – 01:07:58.74

I invited his dad, my my, uh, cool throne is Julio Jones, he's back. We got him out of retirement.

01:07:58.88 – 01:08:07.96

We asked the question a few weeks ago, Is he retired? We didn't know what happened to him. He's on the Eagles, uh, Max, more loaded than ever.

01:08:08.62 – 01:08:10.34

Yeah, he got signed to the practice.

1Speaker 1
01:08:10.34 – 01:08:15.38

Squad, I think he'll eventually get brought up, but he's not signing somewhere if he's not playing.

2Speaker 2
01:08:15.66 – 01:08:24.40

I'm just saying also a great reminder that Julio Jones, his name's not Julio, really. what is it? It's Quintoris Lopez Jones Jr. That's right.

01:08:24.50 – 01:08:27.42

Yeah, great name. yep, great.

1Speaker 1
01:08:27.42 – 01:08:31.84

Name Max Dream team, though. big dream team vibes. Oh, congrats.

01:08:32.30 – 01:08:40.84

Oh yeah, this is the final piece. What a 49 year old receiver, he's going to be a beast, but I definitely not. Dream team.

01:08:40.98 – 01:08:51.74

Dream team? No, but he could be good, so it's better than a wide receiver three right now. Quez has been very bad, so we've been, we've been looking for a wide receiver, three.

01:08:51.84 – 01:08:58.44

Maybe he's the guy. Also important to note that Larry Fitzgerald, I don't think ever retired. I think he's just out there. Yeah, I agree, he quite quit.

01:08:58.56 – 01:09:05.92

He was just like, You know what, I'm just not going to play this year or the next year. Yeah, I agree, I agree. So Quintoris dreams, dream team, dream team.

01:09:06.44 – 01:09:09.50

Yeah, congratulations to Philadelphia Eagles for winning the Super Bowl.

2Speaker 2
01:09:11.38 – 01:09:37.18

Congrats Max. By the way, you guys are the city of champs now. Because because we're doing this, because we're taping this in the afternoon. Uh, you heard us talk about Game two to start the show and Monday night football Max prediction Max Merrill. Kelly called, called out the bank. Uh, I say, seven, four Phillies. Okay, this is a timestamp.

01:09:37.24 – 01:09:39.40

It is four 49 on Tuesday afternoon.

1Speaker 1
01:09:39.60 – 01:09:45.50

Seven, four Phillies. He did, he poked the bank, he did. That's a that's a rookie mistake.

01:09:45.54 – 01:09:45.90

Big time.

3Speaker 3
01:09:45.90 – 01:09:50.46

Also, you guys know, we have a bank series Chase Field versus the Citizens Bank part, Oh.

1Speaker 1
01:09:50.82 – 01:09:56.14

One's, Yeah, I wouldn't say Chase Field is the bank, though it doesn't have the word banking, yeah.

01:09:56.66 – 01:10:01.08

It is a bank, though, it is a bank, it is a bank. Yeah, no, there's a little cash in.

2Speaker 2
01:10:01.66 – 01:10:07.08

There's only one bank. Love it all, right? Jake? Um, my hot seats, the Miami Marlins.

3Speaker 3
01:10:07.50 – 01:10:26.92

The Marlins once again, a very stupid move. They parted ways with, uh, their general manager Kim Ang, who helped construct their first full season playoff team in 20 years. And they wanted to bring in someone above her, and she literally turned this franchise over, and then they said, we want to bring someone in.

01:10:27.00 – 01:10:38.40

She's like, All right, I'm going to pack my bags. Isn't this kind of the Marlins, Mo? It's ridiculous. They get good players, they have some momentum, and then the self-inflicted wounds just make them irrelevant again.

01:10:38.60 – 01:10:40.16

Extremely misogynistic by them.

1Speaker 1
01:10:40.16 – 01:10:52.80

Yes, agreed. I just don't understand like they have, I think I know why. So if you look back at the history of the Miami Marlins or the Florida Marlins, um, she did too good of a job, getting good players.

01:10:53.06 – 01:11:04.88

Now the owner's like, Wait, I'm going to have to pay these good players, I don't want to do that. You really fucked me over here. I got to get a worse GM. So I don't have to worry about paying out, you know, the luxury tax if it ever comes to that.

01:11:05.34 – 01:11:06.72

Yeah, it just doesn't make.

3Speaker 3
01:11:06.72 – 01:11:17.46

Sense that they've made the playoffs, three full seasons in their history and they have momentum. And then they do this. And then you wonder why people care more about the dolphins in the heat.

1Speaker 1
01:11:17.72 – 01:11:23.42

Well, she is the only Marlins GM ever to make the postseason and not win a World Series.

3Speaker 3
01:11:23.58 – 01:11:30.90

Correct, Maybe that's why. Yeah, so it's disappointing, but we'll see what happens. Uh, my cool throw is the Olympics.

01:11:31.30 – 01:11:38.98

We have five sports that are officially Olympic sports as of this week. Okay, whoa, baseball slash softball, all right.

01:11:40.56 – 01:11:53.48

Lacrosse in, we better win, fuck yeah, cricket in, squash in, and flag football in 2028, and it's a home game because it's in Los Angeles.

2Speaker 2
01:11:53.66 – 01:11:59.74

Oh, multiple cities. No, that's the World Cup. Yeah, yeah, World Cups can be on multiple.

1Speaker 1
01:11:59.74 – 01:12:08.34

Continents next year After the U. S. U. S. Canada? Oh no, not this one, but like the one they just announced this week, it's multiple continents. Which one is that?

01:12:08.46 – 01:12:17.28

Where's that? I forget what year it is, but I think it's going to be in Europe, Africa and South America. I just get as much money as possible. I love how corrupt FIFA is, it's the best flag football.
