00:24.14 – 00:42.20

Good afternoon, America, and welcome to the Dean's List. I'm Dean Bowen. You are listening to America Out Loud Talk Radio. All right, we're going to dive right into it today, because yesterday I thought I'd get farther. I just I thought I would, and I didn't.

00:42.48 – 00:57.86

And you know why I didn't? Because I got derailed by Kamala. I did. I got derailed by I don't want to use the word ineptitude. I think dishonesty.

00:58.34 – 01:19.20

That's what derailed me. Dishonesty. I mean, when she started talking about how great Biden is and about his legacy, that it's the. it's the most wonderful, most phenomenal. I remember the adjective she used, the most amazing legacy of any president in modern history.

01:19.20 – 01:41.22

That's what she said. She, she used that phrase, modern history, any president in modern history. And then she went on to tell us that he's accomplished more in one term than most presidents accomplish. in two terms. I mean, these are the things that that Trump was saying to us at the end of his first term.

01:41.42 – 01:52.24

But but it was truthful. It was, it was a truthful statement. He had accomplished more. And what has Biden done? He has not accomplished more.

01:52.66 – 02:23.20

He's accomplished. Well, I guess he has accomplished more, depending on your definition of legacy. If she's referring to how much he's been able to destroy the country, then, by God, we're going to give it to her. Then, then, yes, he has accomplished more than any president. I would say, not only in modern history, but in in all of history, all of American history, Biden has accomplished more in destroying the country.

02:23.82 – 02:33.32

That's. You know, but she didn't say that. That's not what she was going after. That is not, I don't believe. that's her definition of legacy.

02:33.32 – 02:45.38

And so I, I just, you know, and the reason I got derailed, and again, I'm not going to dive into it. If you want to go back and listen to yesterday's show, it's in podcast.

02:47.42 – 03:15.22

But what what caused me to go there is, is this vacuum and and and public K-12 education, this vacuum of virtues. There is. no. I mean, there isn't a lot of of direction towards the virtues. Now, I know they have their, their codes, you know, and they they have character words and they throw up a character word.

03:15.58 – 03:34.64

And, you know, it almost just seems like it's cursory, just, you know, surface level, platitude stuff. I don't know that there's really a deep dive. I don't know that there's really a deep dive into wisdom. Now, if, if you were Thomas Jefferson, which you aren't, but if you were.

03:36.20 – 04:09.90

You would say, well, there can't be a deep dive into wisdom because public schools are not allowed to have a deep dive into. Into the Bible or any religion, for that matter, but it was Jefferson's point of view that the Bible was the. Was the foundation of wisdom that, you know, when he said in the Northwest Ordinance that religion and morality and knowledge is what needs to be taught in education. He was referring to the Bible. He was referring to Christianity.

04:09.90 – 04:25.02

We know this. I don't need to rehash this, but I do say it a lot. And why do I repeat it? Because, my friends, repetition is the mother of memory. The more we say it, the more we we understand it, the more we realize it, the more we remember it.

04:26.64 – 04:30.76

And and it's true. It is. It's a truthful statement.

04:32.56 – 04:51.64

Unlike Kamala, who does not, at least yesterday's clip, there was not a truthful statement, uttered, uttered by her. All right. So we we started the. We started to take a look at the Republican Party platform.

04:53.90 – 05:11.98

Yesterday, what did I do with. With my copy of the of the platform, did it up and walk away, did it? I mean, I see this here with information, but I can't need someone to come in here and and help me out for a second.

05:14.02 – 05:23.44

OK, got it. Thank you for that. All right. So this is Chapter seven. Of the Republican Party platform.

05:24.00 – 05:45.08

Chapter seven is entitled Cultivate Great K-12 Schools Leading to Great Jobs and Great Lives for Young People. OK, this is the. this is their objective. They want to cultivate great K-12 schools. None of this manby, pamby or last place business.

05:45.28 – 05:48.10

We're tired of being last place.

05:50.26 – 06:24.50

Trump said that the GOP education program. What they want to do with their platform consists of will cost less than half of what the federal government now spends on K-12 schools, while students will get a real education out of it, a real education. He said, you know, we're at the bottom of every list academically, except we spend more per pupil than any other country. This is amazing. That we're at the bottom of the academic list, yet we spend more money.

06:24.68 – 06:41.22

And it just goes to tell you money is not the solution. I have repeated this time and time again. Again, one of the things that I repeat. Money is not the solution. I mean, it helps when it's spent wisely and used well.

06:41.22 – 06:52.98

It's not the solution. The solution, my friends, is quality individuals teaching quality curriculum. That's it. That's the. that's the solution.

06:53.28 – 07:12.78

It's just that simple. You've got, you've got two resources. Human resource, you know, the teachers in the room and the curriculum that the teacher is using. Those are the two resources, but they have to be quality. And I would say they have to be high quality.

07:13.32 – 07:26.58

I would say they have to be of the utmost highest quality that education has to offer. That's what. that's the solution. That's what will turn the education dilemma.

07:28.10 – 07:33.14

That's what will turn it upright again. That, my friends, is what will save the day.

07:34.84 – 08:00.10

So Trump says we're at the bottom of every list, except we spend more money per pupil. In fact, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the U.S. spent more than any of the 40 developed countries that are all a part of this organization. Except for one. And we talked about this yesterday.

08:00.86 – 08:27.50

The little, tiny country of Luxembourg. That is the only country that outspends the United States of America on education. Now, so look, you know, for a country that spends as much as they do on education, then you would think, well, number one, we must really love education. Number two, our students must be crushing it. When, in fact, the exact opposite is true on both counts.

08:28.44 – 08:37.06

Now, I shouldn't say it's untrue. on the first. I was about to say we don't love education. And when I say we, I'm talking about the leadership. I'm talking about the hierarchy.

08:38.08 – 08:57.26

But they do love education. They just don't like the high quality education. They like the education that is founded and established and built upon the principles of indoctrination. That is the education that they are going after. That's the education they pursue.

08:57.90 – 09:14.58

That's the education they want. All right. Now, in our opinion. And in my opinion, that's not actual education, because what they indoctrinate the kids into is not truth. There's nothing truthful about it.

09:15.62 – 09:19.58

Their indoctrination of sexuality is not true. It's built on lies.

09:21.10 – 09:39.96

Johnny cannot become Janie. I don't care how many puberty blockers Johnny takes. I don't care how many surgeries Johnny has to remove things and construct other things. Johnny will not be a woman. I don't care how many puberty blockers Janie takes.

09:40.24 – 09:44.62

I don't care how much facial hair Janie has. I don't care if Janie has to shave seven times a day.

09:46.78 – 09:58.76

Janie will not become a man. Janie will never be a man. What? How dare you say that about Janie? How dare you say that about Johnny?

09:59.00 – 10:11.52

You're so inconsiderate. You know that's what they are. No, no, they're not. Janie is not a man. Janie has two X's, not an XY.

10:13.00 – 10:24.26

And there's nothing that can be done about that. God made Janie to be Janie. All right. Again, we go over this. I feel like we go over this a lot.

10:25.20 – 10:48.98

My point is that their indoctrination is built upon lies. And we know that lies are not true education. So this brings us back. Do they truly love education? And are they truly interested in making this generation great?

10:49.42 – 10:55.20

I don't know that they are. I don't know they are. We're spending a bunch of money for nothing.

10:57.82 – 11:10.38

Because the curricula and the people involved, I shouldn't necessarily say the people involved. The curricula is not high quality. We're just going to put it to you like that. And a lot of the people involved are not high quality.

11:13.94 – 11:43.22

Luxembourg, as I said yesterday, you know, it's got a population smaller than the District of Columbia. So, all right. I did make note yesterday, again, this is a little bit of review, that U.S. test scores are statistically tied near the bottom with four other countries from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. What are those four other countries?

11:45.20 – 11:57.66

Turkey, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia traditionally post worse results than America. Otherwise, we're at the bottom. And below us are these four.

11:59.26 – 12:17.80

And they are not bastions for economic and or academic brilliance. They aren't. And this comes from the National Center for Education Statistics. This is not my opinion. The National Center for Education Statistics is drawing these inferences.

12:19.86 – 12:43.74

And the Republican platform promises to reverse all this. It promises to reverse these test scores in part by supporting universal school choice. That is part of their foundation. Trump says school choice is a big deal, actually. And the reason it's a big deal is because now we're introducing this whole idea of competition.

12:44.66 – 13:16.86

Yeah. Universally, the students can go anywhere they want. And if they have their tax dollars following them, then this is fair game. This is fair game. It's difficult for parents to wrap their mind around how they have to pay taxes for their local public school district and then also, in a lot of states, they have to pay additionally for tuition if they want to send their student to a good school.

13:18.10 – 13:33.74

So the objective here is to make school choice universal, and let's have tax dollars follow that. Now, the jury is still out on that. I am looking at, I have got a huge, huge document here.

13:36.96 – 13:49.94

It's about an inch thick. 12 chapters. It's entitled Vouchers, ESAs, and School Choice. Shackles with shackles. Oh, you got to love that.

13:49.94 – 14:07.20

play on words. Shackles, as in money, with shackles, as in chains. You're going to get the money according to the document here. But that money is going to come with some caveats. That money is going to come with some conditions.

14:08.22 – 14:28.84

That money is going to come with, well, some chains, as it were. Now, I just got this yesterday. It just dropped on my desk last night, so I haven't had a chance to pore over it. But I plan on it. Perhaps some light reading this weekend.

14:29.18 – 14:41.66

Maybe later on tonight. I don't know. But my point is, the jury is still out on this whole thing. I had a conversation with Alex Newman a few months back, and this was part of our discussion.

14:44.24 – 15:05.40

I'm just not sure. And his point was, look, there's a lot of good people on our side that want this. And it's a good idea. But his concern is my concern in that it might be a good idea, but it's got to be done perfectly. It's got to be worded perfectly.

15:05.66 – 15:34.38

It's got to be established in such a way that the tax money following the parent is known and written and documented, that the money belongs to the parent. And it's not the government's money. And therefore, the government should not be involved in determining what the education looks like in these private schools, where rental tax dollars would potentially go to.

15:36.04 – 15:38.58

That, to me, is the thing. That's the linchpin.

15:40.42 – 15:42.18

That's what everything hinges on.

15:44.00 – 15:57.40

So the jury is still out. I need to wait and see what all this looks like. I say the Trump platform, the Republican Party platform. I mean, we can call it the Trump platform because it's basically his campaign. put it together.

15:58.14 – 16:24.64

These are things that Trump wants. For the Trump-led GOP, universal choice means giving homeschooling options and private school options the same financial support as other education choices. And this is, again, I believe, his heart's in the right place. I believe it is. I believe the idea is good.

16:25.68 – 16:30.58

We just have to be careful as we step into this, as we write these things out.

16:33.68 – 16:52.82

The GOP platform does say this. Republicans believe families should be empowered to choose the best education for their children. So we go to parental rights. Mom and dad should be empowered. They should have this ability to scope out, to research.

16:52.82 – 16:58.52

What they feel the best option is for their child. Competitively.

17:00.06 – 17:30.46

And then go after it. And then pursue it. So not only is it a platform of excellent schools, of founding excellent academic institutions, K-12.. But it's also a platform for parental rights. Supporting the parents in their endeavor to do their God-given right, their God-given job to raise the child in the way the child should go.

17:30.52 – 17:53.92

To raise the child in the bent of the child. To raise the child in their own faith, in their own personal beliefs, in their own family values. Not the faith and the personal belief in the family values of the local school district. So it's a solid platform, in my opinion. It is a solid platform.

17:54.02 – 18:13.60

It continues. We support universal choice. I'm sorry. We support universal school choice in every state in America. We will expand 529 education savings accounts and support homeschooling families equally.

18:16.50 – 18:27.08

And Trump says, you know, in the hands of the states, that means, you know, some states are going to do better jobs than other states. But he says it should be in every state.

18:29.04 – 18:54.68

That they are supporting universal school choice in all 50.. He says some won't do as good and some won't do very good at all because they'll run it like they run it anyway. You know who I'm talking about. Yes, we know who he's talking about. He's talking about the, well, he's talking about the Democrat states who are going to run it the way they want to run it.

18:55.48 – 19:02.66

Which is run it into the ground. I mean, that's, I mean, we know this to be true. I'm not telling you anything, you don't know.

19:04.98 – 19:30.94

For example, this article talks about New York. New York spends $33,000, over $33,000 per year per pupil in K-12 education. Now, this isn't me saying this. This report is coming from educationdata.org.

19:32.64 – 19:49.92

As well as the National Center for Education Statistics. And it's the latter that reports the Empire State as one of 15 states in the U.S. with below average student performance. One of 15 states.

19:51.72 – 19:55.06

So, I don't know, what is that, roughly a third?

19:57.48 – 20:00.50

15 out of 50, I don't know, do the math.

20:02.46 – 20:10.28

I guess it's not as much as a third, because 20 would, I don't know, I mean, 25, I mean, I guess, you know, we could be close to a third.

20:12.26 – 20:38.61

The bottom, let's just round up and say the bottom third. That New York, the state of New York, is in the bottom third in average and below average student performance. Yet, they spend $33,000.. Matter of fact, I think New York spends the most. Let me look here at the stats from the National Center for Education Statistics.

20:39.42 – 20:59.06

And yeah, nobody outspends New York. Over 33 grand per student per year. And New York is consistently in the bottom third of student academic performance. It's not, again, it's not the money. Money is not the solution.

21:00.94 – 21:23.18

The money is helpful. Don't get me wrong. Money is fantastic when applied to an excellent high quality curriculum and an excellent high quality teacher. When those two things go hand in hand, you can do a lot with a little bit of money. A lot with a little bit of money.

21:24.14 – 21:41.52

So New York is spending 33 grand per pupil. The Waterbrook tuition is holy cow. In terms of private schools. nationally, our tuition is extremely low. Like five grand.

21:41.80 – 22:09.04

Five grand a student. We are doing a lot with a little. We are doing a ton with a little. In comparison to New York, holy smokes, if we had 33 grand a student, I just can't imagine the resources that would be available to us. I can tell you, we would be crushing it.

22:09.12 – 22:23.36

I mean, we're already crushing it. And this isn't hubris, by the way. This is authentic pride. As a school, we are providing a high quality education for our students.

22:26.46 – 22:48.84

It's not because we're amazing. It's because, well, I mean, maybe we have excellent teachers. It's that combination. We are utilizing a fantastic, high quality curricula in conjunction with fantastic, high quality instruction. And when those two are married, when they go hand in hand, boom.

22:50.08 – 23:00.44

Explosive academic achievement. Explosive academic growth. Personal growth out of the students. Why? Well, I'll tell you why.

23:00.54 – 23:10.90

It's because we're teaching virtues. We're teaching prudence. We're teaching temperance. We're teaching justice. We're teaching fortitude.

23:10.90 – 23:37.18

We're teaching faith, hope, and love. We're teaching moral virtues, intellectual virtues, civic virtues, theological virtues. And that's the foundation of the education. And that, my friends, that, in conjunction with the high quality individuals providing that education, oh, man. I'm telling you, if you are listening right now, okay, we're on the tail end of July.

23:37.92 – 24:00.84

You still have time to find yourself a classical Christian school to enroll your child. I'm telling you, you will not regret it. Yeah, this is the promo. And if you live in Michigan, if you live in Genesee County, you can call Waterbrook, but you better do it soon, because space is limited. I will tell you that right now.

24:01.62 – 24:02.52

Space is limited.

24:04.88 – 24:33.86

It's just a great way to go about it. And, listen, if you can't, if you don't have access to a classical Christian school, there are classical charter schools popping up all over the place. Hillsdale is, I feel like they are forming a classical charter school every day, every other day. They're just, and there are other classical charter schools that are not a part of the Hillsdale family. You can find them.

24:33.96 – 24:45.66

They're out there. If you need help in doing this, I make this available to you. You send me an email. If you go to americaoutloud.news, go to my show page. There's a contact form on there.

24:45.68 – 24:46.74

You can reach out to me.

24:48.60 – 25:02.46

I will help you. I will help you along. I will personally help you along. I will put you in touch with people and organizations that will help you along. They will help you find a place.

25:02.46 – 25:18.92

They will even help you form one of your own. We are this serious about it. We are this serious about education. We will help you establish your own school. And, my friends, it's doable.

25:19.96 – 25:40.22

I talk to people, well, not every day. I talk to people weekly. Let's put it that way. Who are branching out and wanting to do this and who are doing it, and who are on a successful trajectory to crush it. It's a beautiful thing.

25:40.28 – 26:09.20

What we're seeing unfold in America educationally really is a beautiful thing. Now, here we talk a lot about the, I don't know, I guess, the dark side of it all. When we get into the indoctrination camps of education, government run education, it's very indoctrinating and it's very dark, it's evil, it's nefarious, in my opinion. And we do spend a lot of time talking about that. But there is hope.

26:09.30 – 26:40.80

There is hope at the end of the tunnel, because there are schools that are starting to bloom and blossom all over the country. Because there are people that have caught the fire. There are people, and you might be one of them, you might be someone who just feels inspired to go out and get it done. You're looking around, you're surveying the landscape, and you're watching, as Alex Newman said, the building burn down. You're watching the building burn down.

26:43.06 – 27:00.32

And we can do something about it. We can. And we can go in and we can put the fire out, which we should be doing. And we can also build other buildings and invite students into those buildings, which we should be doing. And so, listen, here we will support you.

27:00.68 – 27:18.98

It is our endeavor. It's our objective, to just support you in this. All right. I'm looking at the clock and I'm up against the break. So let's, on the other side of the break, let's dive headlong, headlong into the Republican Party platform.

27:19.26 – 27:33.90

We will go over the nine points that they list here, and then you decide. You decide, are these things that you can get behind? Are these things that you can support? The decision is yours. All right.

27:34.16 – 27:42.06

We will pick this up on the other side. And you, my friends, are listening to The Dean's List on America Out Loud talk radio.

32:43.50 – 33:03.68

Go to my page. Every show is there. There. And it's a, there is a beautiful place to be. Okay, let's dive into, in earnest, let's dive into the Republican Party platform, Chapter 7,, as it pertains to their desire for education.

33:03.68 – 33:19.38

All right. Yesterday I got through, I got through 1, 2, and 3.. So I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time there. I will repeat them, though. Their first point is they support great principals and great teachers.

33:20.44 – 33:53.14

Ah, that's a fantastic place to start, because, as I said, what's going to save the day is an excellent curricula and excellent people delivering that curricula. And that starts with great principals and great teachers. Republicans will support schools that focus on excellence and parental rights. We will support ending teacher tenure, adopting merit pay, and allowing various publicly supported educational models. All right, what do you think about this?

33:53.44 – 33:59.90

Yay? Nay? You guys in the room? Everybody's giving it a thumbs up. What's that?

34:00.68 – 34:14.86

You especially like? the ending of teacher tenure. I agree. I don't think it should be a thing. I think you should, I mean, if you're doing a great job, then merit pay.

34:15.30 – 34:26.10

But just because you've been in the position forever? No, no, that is not a reason to stay. I'm sorry. It's not. I agree with you.

34:26.10 – 34:54.12

Okay, number two, universal school choice. Republicans believe families should be empowered to choose the best education for their children. We support universal school choice in every state in America. We will expand 529 education savings accounts and support homeschooling families equally. All right, so a running theme between the first two points.

34:54.12 – 35:08.26

so far. What is it? Yes, that's it. Point number one, they mentioned parental rights. Point number two, they believe families should be empowered to be able to choose education for their children.

35:08.44 – 35:16.52

This is family-centered. This is family-centric, parent-centric, and it's a good start.

35:18.06 – 35:47.34

Again, the universal school choice model, is the jury still out? I haven't, you know, I got to see it first. I got to see how it's written out. Number three, prepare students for jobs and careers. Republicans will emphasize education to prepare students for great jobs and careers, supporting project-based learning and schools that offer meaningful work experience.

35:48.02 – 36:13.28

We will expose politicized education models and fund proven career training programs. Okay, I like this. Now again, we're a classical school. We focus on the classics. A lot of classical schools don't engage in career training or the trades.

36:13.62 – 36:33.66

You know, there isn't a lot of focus on the trades. We like the trades. Personally, I'm all for it. We have a trades class. We offer what's called core construction, and it gives our juniors the basics in construction.

36:35.28 – 37:03.02

And then, if they want to stay with it as seniors, we offer them, I think it's just electrical 101, or maybe it's just called electrical one, but it dives into electrical. Now, in core, they get a little bit of everything. They touch plumbing, they touch electrical, they touch carpentry, you know, HVAC, you know, all of it. They get this broad foundation.

37:04.54 – 37:32.14

And then, if they wish to move into electrical, we are able to steer them in that direction. And I would love to be able to steer them as seniors into the other trades and not just electrical. We would love to be able to have access. And that's something that perhaps is on the horizon. And so I support number three.

37:32.56 – 38:06.66

I think it's good. I will say this. The caveat here is that it's my opinion in classical schools that we, in K-12 classical schools, that we are not training them to go into the workforce. This isn't career training. In a classical school, they are being trained and developed to be a particular type of person, which, in our perspective, is a good person.

38:07.16 – 38:46.28

We are raising them, teaching them, training them to be a good person and a good citizen. Somebody who engages with the virtues, somebody who has wisdom, somebody who has self-control, somebody who speaks the truth, somebody who has courage, somebody who loves, who has faith, who hopes. And then we dive into the civic, the civic virtues, the intellectual virtues, the moral virtues. These things are of utmost importance to us. And we do give them some insight into careers and things that they can go into, but that's not our primary role.

38:48.10 – 39:11.36

I just want to spell that out for you and let you know that the classical approach, we want them to be a particular type of person. They're going to have time. They're going to have time once they leave high school. If they want to go to college and pursue a college degree, fine. Law, medicine, whatever, accounting, fine.

39:11.76 – 39:35.78

If they want to go to a trade school, fine. If they want to get into an apprenticeship or journeyman program, fine. They're going to be prepared for that. We're going to prepare them for that, because we are preparing them to be a particular type of person. That, my friends, that is the beauty of a classical education, in my opinion.

39:37.70 – 40:03.32

So, while the title of number three, prepare students for jobs and careers, I mean, that's not really our thing. We're not going to prepare them for a job or a career. They're going to be prepared, but in other ways. Our job is to lay the foundation and to build up a particular type of person. All right, number four, safe, secure, and drug-free schools.

40:05.18 – 40:28.68

Republicans will support overhauling standards on school discipline, advocate for immediate suspension of violent students, and support hardening schools to help keep violence away from our places of learning. 100% agree with this. 100%, immediate suspension for violent students. Where are they going to go? I don't know.

40:29.68 – 40:45.28

I don't know. Let's create, you know, another building for them, okay? A halfway house, so to speak. A halfway house for education. But if they're going to be violent, then they should not be in the main population.

40:45.76 – 41:03.66

Because, listen, kids, there are kids that do come to school to actually learn. Believe it or not, some kids want to learn. They come to school to learn, and they should be given that opportunity. All right, number five, restore parental rights. Oh, here we go.

41:04.04 – 41:09.64

I mean, we could land on number five here and just camp out, couldn't we? And we could camp out here for a minute.

41:11.18 – 41:42.56

Republicans will restore parental rights in education and enforce our civil rights laws to stop schools from discriminating on the basis of race. We trust parents, because schools do. They discriminate on the basis of race. So last night, Cindy and I were watching, what's the show on The Daily Wire called? Backstage, or something.

41:43.04 – 41:56.48

In fact, I don't know. Behind the stage, I don't know what it's called. We're watching it. And they formally announce Matt Walsh's new movie called Am I Racist? I think it's called Am I Racist?

41:58.28 – 42:15.96

And it looks brilliant. It looks absolutely hilarious. And it's coming out in theaters, I think, in August. So a little promo here for Matt Walsh's movie, which comes out, I think. And I think they said August.

42:16.52 – 42:34.30

I can't wait to see it. But he talks about going to this dinner. Something about, I don't know, a dinner for race. Race to dinner, I think. And it's this meal where women sit around and they bash white women.

42:34.34 – 42:55.84

They invite white women to come and pay for the meal. And they destroy them for two hours, calling them racists. And he showed a clip of this. And it's appalling. It is appalling to think what's happening in this country in terms of racism.

42:55.84 – 43:21.42

Racism, race baiting, what our students are being taught. So I fully agree with number five. Let's put the power back in the hands of the parents. And let's get rid of the racism in education. All right, number six.

43:21.42 – 43:44.82

Knowledge and skills, not CRT and gender indoctrination. All right. Now, what I would have loved if they said knowledge and morality and skills. That would have been fantastic. If they would have inserted the word morality, a la Thomas Jefferson.

43:46.80 – 44:05.10

I guess we'll start here, though. I mean, we're not going to say it's horrible that they want to insert knowledge and skills into education and not critical race theory or gender indoctrination.

44:07.64 – 44:34.56

So Republicans will ensure children are taught fundamentals like reading, history, science and math, not left-wing propaganda. Okay. Isn't it shocking? Aren't you shocked by this over there? Are you shocked by this, that the platform actually calls for teaching fundamentals in our public schools, like reading, history, science and math?

44:35.56 – 44:47.48

That they actually have to say we need to teach the fundamentals? It's a school. Isn't that what should be happening? Yes, you're right. It is exactly what should be happening.

44:47.48 – 45:20.50

But they know it's not, and so they have to make it part of their platform, not left-wing propaganda. They continue, we will defund schools that engage in inappropriate political indoctrination of our children using federal taxpayer dollars. Oh, see, when you hit them in the pocketbook, that's where you hit them, where it hurts. And when you start saying to them, you're going to lose federal funding. Oh, the teachers unions, what is this going to do to them?

45:21.20 – 45:37.02

They're not going to be happy about this. No, no, they're not going to be happy about this at all, to think that they're going to have to choose their precious almighty dollar over their inappropriate political indoctrination. Those are tough choices.

45:38.58 – 45:57.24

So we are on board with number six. We just wish it were worded differently, that's all. Knowledge and skills and morality. And since we're in the vein of Jefferson, we would have been fine with it saying knowledge, religion, and morality. You can't have religion in public schools.

45:57.38 – 46:08.08

I disagree. You can. You can. Now, the Supreme Court in the 60s said you can't, that it's unconstitutional. But that court was wrong.

46:09.22 – 46:34.94

Historically, that court was wrong. Because those events, those things that were happening, the prayer, the Bible reading, the religion, those things had been taking place in our public schools since the founding. So why, all of a sudden, in 1960, does it become unconstitutional? I'm sorry, it didn't. It didn't become unconstitutional.

46:34.94 – 46:54.98

You had five justices that felt like it was because they bought the, well, they bought what the progressives were selling. Hook, line, and sinker. But they were wrong. I'm here to tell you that, Dean, how dare you disagree with a Supreme Court justice? They're wrong.

46:55.46 – 47:03.86

I mean, five of them, four of them were right. I'm only disagreeing with five of them. I mean, I'm fully in agreement with the other four of the minority. That's all.

47:05.94 – 47:20.38

So I would have been fine with number six saying, but even in this order, religion, morality, knowledge, and skills. That's what we want. In that order, right there. In that order. Not CRT.

47:21.00 – 47:22.58

Not gender indoctrination.

47:24.16 – 47:30.94

Not lies about history. Not lies about sexuality. Not just, you know, not lies. Period. Okay.

47:32.50 – 47:44.98

That was number six. Number seven. Promote love of country with authentic civics education. Boom. Let's start teaching history the way history should be taught.

47:45.16 – 48:07.28

Let's go. Let's get in there. Let's go. Republicans will reinstate the 1776 commission, promote fair and patriotic civics education, and veto efforts to nationalize civics education. We will support schools that teach America's founding principles and Western civilization.

48:07.84 – 48:14.38

Yes. Let's bring back the 1776 commission. Led by Dr. Arnn. I sent Dr.

48:14.42 – 48:23.30

Arnn a letter. after that. I did. Yeah. As soon as I discovered he was chairing that commission, I wrote him a letter.

48:24.00 – 48:39.92

And I said, number one, congratulations on being the chair. Number two, I am extremely pleased that you're the chair. And number three, I'm available if you need me. I just, you know, just let him know. Yeah.

48:40.06 – 48:48.02

Oh, yeah. He replied. Yeah. And he sent me some stuff. He always replies to my correspondence.

48:49.06 – 48:52.14

Was it him? Yeah, it was him. Yeah, it was him.

48:55.48 – 49:12.54

He, how do I know? Because it, well, it's his signature. And it's just a couple paragraphs. It's short, but he's very specific. You can, if you listen to him, talk, then you know it's, this is his writing.

49:12.96 – 49:24.26

I mean, just the words he uses. Yeah, it was him. I, yeah, absolutely. It was him. I mean, I, you know, we correspond back and forth from time to time.

49:25.06 – 49:38.50

I have not, we haven't corresponded in a while, but, well, since then. This was our last, when I congratulated him. So I guess four years ago. I mean, we haven't, it's been four years since Dr. Arnn and I talked.

49:38.62 – 49:42.50

No, it hasn't been that long. This was, yeah, I guess.

49:44.78 – 49:54.72

No, no. Now, listen to me here. I'm trying to see when the last time was that I corresponded with our, with the good doctor from Hillsdale. All right. That's not the point.

49:54.80 – 50:09.14

The point is that the 1776 commission is, I'm on board with this. I am full on, on board. Number seven, promote love of country with authentic civics education. Let's do it. All right.

50:09.22 – 50:19.90

Number eight. Oh, number eight. Oh, number eight. This is where it gets good. You ready for number eight?

50:20.90 – 50:27.14

All right. You want to take a guess? Want to take a stab in the dark at what number eight is? Okay. Here's your hint.

50:27.42 – 50:37.14

Matt Gaetz. Matt Gaetz proposed this. Yep. You nailed it. Matt Gaetz proposed, let's bring prayer back in schools.

50:37.84 – 51:01.90

Here's what number eight says. Freedom to pray. Republicans will champion the first amendment right to pray and read the Bible in school and stand up to those who violate the religious freedoms of American students. Wow. Did we just rewind the clock back to 1962??

51:02.52 – 51:15.48

1963.. I think we did. Ah, I'm telling you what, this is going to open the floodgates. Oh, let's go. So maybe this is why they didn't for number six.

51:15.58 – 51:32.46

They just said knowledge and skills and not CRT, instead of saying religion, morality, and knowledge and skills, because they were saving, you know, prayer in the Bible for number eight. Maybe. I don't know. I think they could have done both. So this is a big deal.

51:33.22 – 52:07.64

The Republican platform is calling for the first amendment right to pray and read the Bible in school and stand up to those who violate the religious freedoms of American students. And I've told you this. I have told you this. We currently have a Supreme Court that is interested in looking at these cases again, not in the sense of being anti-religion, but in the sense of being pro-freedom of speech. And they're going to do it.

52:07.82 – 52:17.08

That's what happened with Coach Kennedy. They said, he's got the right. It's freedom of speech. Yes, he can take a knee. And we're going to start seeing other things.

52:17.80 – 52:40.96

And they've even said, look, if this is historically something that we've accepted in this country for the first 150, 200 years, why, all of a sudden, are we going to stop it and call it unconstitutional? That's this court. I love number eight. We're happy with number eight as part of their platform. All right.

52:41.04 – 52:49.82

Number nine, last but not least. Oh, number nine. Number nine. Number nine's a biggie. Here it comes.

52:49.92 – 53:09.52

Number nine, return education to the states. Bum, bum, bum. The United States spends more money per pupil on education than any other country in the world. And yet we are at the bottom of every educational list in terms of results. All right.

53:09.56 – 53:23.48

We talked about this in the beginning. We went through the data from the National Center for Education Statistics. We went through the data from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

53:25.60 – 53:48.60

You know, we went to educationdata.org. And, you know, we brought the receipts. And I'll link this. I'll link these receipts in my show notes. As it stands right now, we spend more money than anyone, and we get worse results than anyone.

53:48.60 – 53:51.16

More money and worse results.

53:53.28 – 54:09.90

The platform continues. We are going to close the Department of Education in Washington, D.C., and send it back to the states where it belongs. What do you think about that? Shutting down the Department of Education. Send them all home.

54:10.60 – 54:29.14

Send them packing. Let's just close up that bureaucratic office. Let's send it back to the states where it belongs and let the states run our educational system as it should be, and local communities. Let's let the local school boards run it. Yeah.

54:29.38 – 54:33.38

Let the states fund it. Let the local school boards run it.

54:34.92 – 54:41.04

I love it. Absolutely. Okay. Our great teachers. The platform continues.

54:41.22 – 55:06.04

Our great teachers, who are so important to the future well-being of our country, will be cherished and protected by the Republican Party, so that they can do the job of educating our students that they so dearly want to do. It is our goal to bring education in the United States to the highest level, one that it has never attained before.

55:07.56 – 55:16.46

So what do you think about these goals? There's nine of them here. You like them? You like every single one of them? Which one's your favorite?

55:17.66 – 55:26.30

All of them? No, no, you've got to have a favorite. Number eight. Let's have the freedom of prayer and Bible back in schools. I like number eight.

55:27.02 – 55:35.42

It's a tough one for me. I like number eight. I love number nine. Let's close it down nationally. Let's return it to the states.

55:36.10 – 55:43.96

I like number seven. I love this idea of promoting authentic civics. I mean, all of them. They're all fantastic.

55:45.64 – 55:47.08

Restoring parental rights.

55:48.74 – 56:07.28

I mean, the only one that I'm on the fence on is the universal school choice. And, like I said, we're going to dive into that. We're going to have to wait and see what that verbiage looks like as it comes out. But this is it. Is this a platform that you can get behind?

56:08.51 – 56:38.90

If you're a parent and you're going to vote this November, is this an educational platform that you can get behind? I mean, that's a pretty simple question. I would be hard-pressed to find a parent that wouldn't get behind this. I mean, you're going to have your leftist Marxists who are upset about not being able to teach racism. They think that the kids are racist anyway, inherently, and therefore we shouldn't teach it or teach them how to be racist.

56:40.28 – 56:55.72

I mean, you're going to have Marxists upset about all this. They don't want us praying. They don't want authentic civic education. They certainly don't want education being returned back to the states. But I'm just talking about an everyday average American, Republican or Democrat or independent.

56:55.92 – 57:03.60

It doesn't matter. To me, you'd be hard-pressed to find just an everyday parent who doesn't get behind these things.

57:05.82 – 57:08.92

Yeah, I know. All right, well, we'll see come November.

57:12.02 – 57:25.32

Yes, we will look at the Democrats. We'll look at their platform. We'll see what they have to say about education. We'll compare the two. I think that's what our listeners want.

57:25.82 – 57:43.36

They want some comparison. All right, my friends, I'm looking at the clock, and we are up against it. But this is it. I hope this is exciting to you. I hope this platform, in terms of education, I hope you're excited about it.

57:43.36 – 57:55.40

if you're a parent. I know I am, and I'm looking to see where it takes us. Okay, that is all the time we have for today, America. Thank you for joining me. So happy that you are here with us.

57:55.40 – 58:02.78

Encourage your friends and family to get on the Dean's List. Let's unite to renovate the age.
