One America News host Dan Ball explains why Democrats in Congress are trying to shut his network down.

2024-05-01 00:33:41

The Tucker Carlson Show is your beacon of free speech and honest reporting in a media landscape dominated by misinformation. The only solution to ending the propaganda spiral is by telling the truth. That's our job. Every day. No matter what.

00:10.62 – 00:15.48

Welcome to the Tucker Carlson podcast, where every story is an honest story, and not one

00:15.48 – 00:20.10

of them has been massaged or influenced or censored by a corporate gatekeeper.

00:20.56 – 00:21.64

We've made a lot of these.

00:21.74 – 00:26.06

You can find all of it and a lot of exclusive content at TuckerCarlson.com.

00:26.16 – 00:27.22

We hope you'll check that out.

00:27.68 – 00:28.56

Here's today's episode.

00:29.24 – 00:33.50

If the first amendment means anything, and it has to if this is going to remain America,

00:33.68 – 00:37.74

it means that the U.S. government cannot censor the news.

00:37.84 – 00:43.52

It can't make laws to stop journalists from saying what they think is true.

00:44.04 – 00:47.40

So that's not an arcane legal question.

00:47.54 – 00:48.80

It's in the text.

00:48.92 – 00:52.84

It's the first amendment to our Bill of Rights, the whole point of America.

00:52.84 – 00:58.32

And yet, out there in the open, Democrats are working to shut down news organizations

00:58.32 – 00:59.50

all over the country.

00:59.72 – 01:04.08

We've reported on this for a couple of years, but in no case are they doing it more openly

01:04.08 – 01:08.64

than their attempt to shut down a conservative news channel called One America News, OAN.

01:09.30 – 01:10.60

So why are they doing this?

01:10.66 – 01:13.36

Well, they say the channel pushes something called disinformation.

01:13.54 – 01:19.62

Now, disinformation, you should know, does not mean that something is dishonest or factually

01:19.62 – 01:20.30

incorrect.

01:20.52 – 01:21.58

It can be entirely true.

01:21.58 – 01:24.08

It just means that the people in charge don't want to hear it and they don't want you to

01:24.08 – 01:24.38

hear it.

01:24.66 – 01:25.96

So it's therefore disinformation.

01:25.96 – 01:31.24

It's a term stolen from the intel agencies, which are part of the apparatus in the federal

01:31.24 – 01:34.40

government that Democrats are using to shut down the news.

01:35.30 – 01:40.24

So here's California Governor Gavin Newsom going after OAN for daring to say that the

01:40.24 – 01:42.02

vaccine might not be safe and effective.

01:42.64 – 01:46.88

Well, the platforms are of concern, of course, and platforms have to do a better job across

01:46.88 – 01:47.40

the spectrum.

01:47.40 – 01:51.54

But there are also those that are propaganda machines that are out there as well.

01:51.60 – 01:52.14

Let's be candid.

01:52.90 – 01:57.16

One American News, you're familiar with them down here, perhaps one of the great disinformation

01:57.16 – 01:58.36

networks in America.

01:59.20 – 02:02.52

OAN is one of the great disinformation networks in America.

02:03.02 – 02:08.92

There's a guy who lies every day for a living, and it's not a guess, it can be proven.

02:09.26 – 02:12.62

There's a guy who locked down the entire state and then went to the French Laundry in Napa

02:12.62 – 02:14.52

for dinner without a mask on.

02:14.94 – 02:17.36

That guy is accusing other people of disinformation.

02:17.56 – 02:20.10

So what you have here is the oldest story ever told.

02:20.28 – 02:24.58

The people in power don't want to be criticized, and in a so-called democratic system, they

02:24.58 – 02:27.78

don't want voters to know that they're liars and incompetent.

02:27.82 – 02:32.76

So they shut down anyone who tells the truth about them or who spreads a message they don't

02:32.76 – 02:33.20

care for.

02:33.44 – 02:34.54

It's just abuse of power.

02:35.24 – 02:36.08

It never changes.

02:36.22 – 02:39.30

It's been going on since Nebuchadnezzar, and he learned it from his grandfather because

02:39.30 – 02:40.40

it's never not existed.

02:40.40 – 02:45.46

But this country officially disallowed it, made it illegal with the Bill of Rights, which

02:45.46 – 02:46.38

is just now being ignored.

02:47.26 – 02:52.82

So House Democrats are putting pressure on cable providers to cut ties with OAN because

02:52.82 – 02:54.56

that's not unconstitutional somehow.

02:54.70 – 02:58.40

So we're watching all of this, it's getting no attention, and we thought, why not speak

02:58.40 – 03:00.18

to someone at the center of it, Dan Ball.

03:00.32 – 03:05.28

He's a host of Real America on One America News on OAN, and he joins us now in the studio

03:05.28 – 03:07.54

to explain what's happening to him and his employer.

03:07.80 – 03:08.56

Dan, thanks very much for coming on.

03:08.56 – 03:09.70

Tucker, can I say thank you?

03:09.70 – 03:10.84

Oh my gosh, thank you.

03:10.88 – 03:11.26

Are you kidding?

03:11.32 – 03:16.32

For inviting me, OAN, some of our managements here in ownership as well.

03:16.66 – 03:17.54

We truly appreciate it.

03:17.68 – 03:18.48

Oh, of course.

03:18.62 – 03:23.22

I mean, you have been a voice of reason, common sense for the people, for the Constitution,

03:23.52 – 03:24.82

for freedom of press, freedom of speech.

03:25.12 – 03:25.82

So thank you.

03:25.88 – 03:26.74

Well, that's all that matters.

03:26.86 – 03:28.76

I mean, I've got nothing to do with OAN.

03:29.04 – 03:30.50

I don't even own a TV, as you know.

03:30.66 – 03:36.28

But I think it is, I hate the word, but it's existential, it is a question of life or death

03:36.28 – 03:38.70

for the country, whether or not the First Amendment stands.

03:39.36 – 03:43.12

And the idea that Democrats in power are trying to shut down a news organization for saying

03:43.12 – 03:47.50

things they don't like, which by the way, happen to be true things, is really a threat

03:47.50 – 03:48.32

to life as we know it.

03:48.50 – 03:49.22

So thank you.

03:49.36 – 03:51.74

So tell us, just I'll ask you simple questions and get out of the way.

03:52.84 – 03:57.44

How are government officials trying to shut down your news organization?

03:58.14 – 04:00.04

So go back to 2020.

04:00.48 – 04:03.44

Let's start with the reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop.

04:03.64 – 04:03.78

Yes.

04:03.96 – 04:05.44

OAN was the first one to break that?

04:05.44 – 04:05.80

Yes.

04:05.86 – 04:06.70

To say it was legit.

04:07.14 – 04:10.60

We had Rudy Giuliani come on with our Chanel Rion and discuss it.

04:10.94 – 04:12.82

We even went over to Ukraine and interviewed some folks.

04:13.20 – 04:15.56

And in August, we broke that story before the election.

04:16.24 – 04:21.34

We were then called by every single mainstream media outlet and Democrats, purveyors of disinformation,

04:21.58 – 04:22.58

Russian propagandists.

04:22.98 – 04:26.86

There was people online saying that we were owned by Russia, that we favored Putin, that

04:26.86 – 04:29.62

Mr. Haring was bought and paid for by Russia or Trump.

04:29.94 – 04:35.30

I can guarantee you, it's a sweet 82-year-old hardworking man and his two sons that own

04:35.30 – 04:35.46

us.

04:35.62 – 04:36.62

Not Putin, not Trump.

04:36.92 – 04:37.56

I can assure you.

04:37.88 – 04:38.76

I've been there almost four years.

04:38.94 – 04:41.96

Can I just say, because I've been obviously the subject of this as well.

04:42.14 – 04:42.86

Yes, you know.

04:43.14 – 04:45.64

I don't really care who owns your news network, anyone's news network.

04:45.78 – 04:50.58

If it turned out that you were owned by Vladimir Putin, which you're not, of course, but I

04:50.58 – 04:53.90

would still assess the product on its own terms.

04:53.96 – 04:55.70

Is what you're saying true or not?

04:56.02 – 04:57.04

I mean, that's all that matters.

04:57.14 – 04:58.06

And what did they tell us back then?

04:58.36 – 05:01.04

The laptop was Russian disinformation.

05:01.04 – 05:07.00

You had those, what, 50-some ex-intelligence community people say it was misinformation,

05:07.28 – 05:07.72

disinformation.

05:07.84 – 05:08.02

Liars.

05:08.06 – 05:08.64

Russian propaganda.

05:08.80 – 05:09.14

Yes, sir.

05:09.36 – 05:10.30

And we aired it.

05:10.50 – 05:11.80

So that's when it really started.

05:12.02 – 05:12.20

Okay.

05:12.24 – 05:16.12

They looked at us and went, oh my God, these guys are going to interfere with the election

05:16.12 – 05:17.90

because we're spitting truth to power.

05:18.06 – 05:19.90

We're telling you this laptop is real.

05:20.10 – 05:21.16

The big guy's Joe Biden.

05:21.34 – 05:22.38

He's taking 10%.

05:22.38 – 05:26.28

He's used his family and his influence to make millions, to enrich himself.

05:26.92 – 05:27.96

Well, they didn't like that very much.

05:28.04 – 05:28.20

No.

05:28.20 – 05:31.04

And then of course, COVID, we're in the middle of COVID.

05:32.18 – 05:34.50

We busted through the narrative of the masks aren't working.

05:35.08 – 05:37.92

When Joe took over and he told everybody to get the vaccine, he was talking about that

05:37.92 – 05:38.92

winter of death and everything.

05:39.16 – 05:42.70

We were talking about the irregularities, rather, you'd see with the vaccine when it

05:42.70 – 05:44.18

comes to side effects and deaths.

05:44.40 – 05:45.10

They didn't like that.

05:45.72 – 05:51.24

So it was kind of cascading downward from the Hunter Biden laptop story to COVID coverage.

05:51.36 – 05:52.72

And then we had the 2020 election.

05:53.14 – 05:53.36

Okay.

05:53.40 – 05:56.16

And we had people on, of course, discussing irregularities in the election.

05:56.56 – 05:57.54

They didn't like any of that.

05:58.10 – 05:59.42

So it started several ways.

05:59.66 – 06:00.76

YouTube demonetized us.

06:01.42 – 06:05.18

I mean, every time we'd put a story about COVID, masks, distancing, the laptop, boom,

06:05.26 – 06:08.54

take it down, 30 day suspension, 60 days, or just try to kill the whole account.

06:08.98 – 06:13.14

And then all of a sudden, letters came out, I think about 21 or 22.

06:13.68 – 06:17.36

And somebody can correct me if I'm wrong on the date, but you had a letter and I think

06:17.36 – 06:18.18

I gave them to your producers.

06:18.44 – 06:24.50

There was a letter from four Democrat senators and two California Congress folks, Democrats,

06:25.02 – 06:30.94

who sent letters to not only all of the satellite and cable carriers, but also to advertisers.

06:31.46 – 06:34.90

And they use that little thing from NewsGuard, which I've heard you talk about NewsGuard

06:34.90 – 06:37.00

and that ESG rating and pyramid system.

06:37.06 – 06:39.94

It's just a CIA operation to shut down the truth, of course.

06:40.24 – 06:44.84

They told them to get rid of, and your old network was named Fox Newsmax and OAN.

06:45.32 – 06:46.72

Now who's the smallest on that totem pole?

06:47.16 – 06:47.52

We are.

06:47.90 – 06:49.00

So they came after us.

06:49.20 – 06:50.68

And so they scared away advertisers.

06:50.68 – 06:55.70

They got us kicked off multiple carriers, Frontier, Verizon, DirecTV, everything, because

06:55.70 – 06:57.06

the Democrats sent these letters.

06:57.60 – 07:03.44

So sitting members of Congress tried to get a news channel kicked off the air and bankrupted.

07:03.98 – 07:05.24

But isn't that right?

07:05.34 – 07:06.76

I mean, call me naive.

07:07.50 – 07:09.92

In the country I grew up in, that was just absolutely not allowed.

07:09.96 – 07:10.82

You weren't allowed to do that.

07:11.10 – 07:12.72

We're not state-run TV, right?

07:12.98 – 07:13.70

We're not supposed to be.

07:13.96 – 07:14.72

I mean, when I got into this-

07:14.72 – 07:15.98

Well, it's against the law to do that.

07:16.14 – 07:17.76

Well, but does this regime care?

07:17.84 – 07:19.30

Look what the Biden regime's been doing to this country.

07:19.48 – 07:20.22

They don't care about the law.

07:20.22 – 07:23.26

Do you remember the names of the members who disgraced themselves by doing this?

07:23.42 – 07:24.60

I gave your producer the letters.

07:24.72 – 07:25.86

I don't have them in front of me.

07:26.10 – 07:26.40

No problem.

07:26.56 – 07:28.04

Eshoo was one of them from California.

07:28.28 – 07:28.94

Anna Eshoo, yeah.

07:29.22 – 07:31.80

And McInerney, McInerney, something like that, from California.

07:31.86 – 07:32.76

That's the two Congress folks.

07:33.18 – 07:33.62

Our House of Representatives.

07:33.62 – 07:35.16

And your company's based in Southern California.

07:35.34 – 07:36.06

Yeah, we're in San Diego.

07:36.22 – 07:36.92

You're in Stomping Grounds.

07:37.04 – 07:38.90

Four senators I don't recall, but they were Democrats.

07:38.98 – 07:39.52

I can tell you that.

07:40.00 – 07:41.46

And I don't have the names off the top of my head.

07:41.76 – 07:43.02

But again, so they used those letters.

07:43.46 – 07:48.50

And in those letters it said, we want you to look into these purveyors of disinformation,

07:48.50 – 07:50.04

the good old disinformation phrase.

07:50.44 – 07:51.14

And then what do you know?

07:51.26 – 07:54.10

Months later, we're kicked off platforms, okay?

07:54.32 – 07:55.86

We're demonetized on social media.

07:56.24 – 08:00.82

Our major accounts with millions of followers for OAN are shadow banned or censored or fact

08:00.82 – 08:02.24

checked every damn day, right?

08:02.32 – 08:04.82

This is what's been going on since 2020 to OAN.

08:05.06 – 08:08.16

Some people covered it and talked about it in 20 and 21 for us.

08:08.26 – 08:09.44

And then it kind of went by the wayside.

08:09.80 – 08:13.58

You know, we went away, according to the left, because they kicked us off everything.

08:13.82 – 08:15.46

But we've been fighting like hell ever since.

08:16.90 – 08:18.82

And so again, thank you for covering it.

08:18.84 – 08:23.26

Well, I mean, I'm sorry, I just have to pause to internalize all this.

08:23.46 – 08:24.24

I mean, first of all, I'm embarrassed.

08:24.34 – 08:26.04

It's taken me so long just to hear the story.

08:26.26 – 08:32.34

I'm sort of aware of it, but it's shocking to me, because it is so illegal and obviously

08:32.34 – 08:32.86

illegal.

08:32.96 – 08:38.34

It's as illegal as anything you could do in America for members of Congress to shut down

08:38.34 – 08:40.20

a news organization because they don't like what it says.

08:40.28 – 08:42.02

That is not allowed in the United States.

08:42.08 – 08:44.20

That's like any other crime, including murder or rape.

08:44.20 – 08:44.90

It's not allowed.

08:44.90 – 08:46.16

And they're doing it anyway.

08:46.20 – 08:47.66

And no one's saying anything about it.

08:47.86 – 08:49.00

Were there news stories about this?

08:49.62 – 08:51.64

A couple, but not really mainstream.

08:52.20 – 08:56.76

I mean, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, places like that would cover it and say OAN's under

08:56.76 – 08:56.96

fire.

08:57.12 – 09:01.76

But when you have 98%, as you know, of the mainstream media that leans heavily left.

09:01.96 – 09:06.96

And every other day we had an article from Mediate, Media Matters, Daily Beast, Rolling

09:06.96 – 09:08.14

Stone, even ripping OAN.

09:08.30 – 09:09.32

There's dozens of them online.

09:09.54 – 09:13.74

Myself, too, calling me out, calling me a purveyor of disinformation, a liar, a propagandist.

09:13.74 – 09:16.46

Because you were saying that COVID vax didn't work very well.

09:16.78 – 09:20.66

We said that the masks weren't working, that the social distancing isn't working.

09:20.80 – 09:22.90

And by the way, all those reports in the last few months have come out and said that.

09:22.90 – 09:23.48

It's all true.

09:23.66 – 09:23.74

Yeah.

09:24.02 – 09:24.80

But we were saying it three years ago.

09:24.80 – 09:26.42

How many people do you know who died of COVID?

09:26.52 – 09:28.48

How many people do you know who were injured or killed by the vax?

09:28.58 – 09:30.20

I've asked that question of 100 people.

09:30.30 – 09:33.80

Not one person knows more people who died from COVID than were killed or injured by

09:33.80 – 09:34.18

the vax.

09:34.26 – 09:34.74

Not one.

09:35.26 – 09:36.32

Maybe the numbers are different.

09:36.38 – 09:37.32

I'm just telling you my experience.

09:37.44 – 09:38.92

So that's not a crazy thing to ask.

09:39.06 – 09:42.08

Oh, well, let me tell you, when I was out there talking about ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine,

09:42.08 – 09:46.26

which worked, by the way, because I did them when I was sick with COVID and I felt better

09:46.26 – 09:50.72

in 36 hours, I would get death threats and messages going, you're killing people by saying

09:50.72 – 09:50.96

that.

09:51.18 – 09:53.34

Why are you telling them to take chlorine and a horse tranquilizer?

09:54.10 – 09:54.50

Morons.

09:55.16 – 09:57.20

Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin have been around for decades.

09:58.06 – 10:06.62

But it's this constellation of intel agency cutouts, mediaite, Rolling Stone, Daily Beast.

10:06.62 – 10:16.86

But it's the same group, neoliberal, effectively state media organizations that don't represent

10:16.86 – 10:21.40

a huge percentage of American voters or any meaningful representative percentage of American

10:21.40 – 10:21.58

voters.

10:21.70 – 10:23.96

But they're just like, they're all working in concert against you.

10:23.96 – 10:26.40

They're a mouthpiece for the left and Democrats, period.

10:27.10 – 10:27.84

I mean, that's what they are.

10:28.04 – 10:29.46

Look, I got into this just like you.

10:29.52 – 10:32.84

You're a few years older than me, but I've been doing this for, gosh, I'm 50 this year

10:32.84 – 10:34.22

and I started at 18 in the military.

10:34.36 – 10:34.66

Yes.

10:34.72 – 10:35.96

And for the armed force radio television service.

10:35.96 – 10:37.72

So 32 years I've been doing this.

10:37.96 – 10:38.06

Yes.

10:38.08 – 10:41.12

And I started doing it to tell stories, to help the people.

10:41.28 – 10:42.46

My brother was a firefighter.

10:42.54 – 10:43.64

We lost him years ago to cancer.

10:43.78 – 10:48.10

But him and I got into a debate one time about my job versus his and first responders and

10:48.10 – 10:50.62

people that help the community goes, Dan, your job's important.

10:50.90 – 10:52.58

What journalists do is like a public servant.

10:52.76 – 10:56.04

You're out there trying to help protect the people, tell them the truth of what's going

10:56.04 – 10:57.88

on, speak truth to power of government.

10:58.18 – 10:59.86

And so don't, don't discount yourself.

10:59.92 – 11:00.62

Don't discredit yourself.

11:00.72 – 11:03.60

And so that stuck with me back in 08, my brother told me that before he passed.

11:03.60 – 11:08.16

And I come to this network in 2020 and I think, oh my gosh, here's a place where I can tell

11:08.16 – 11:08.62

the truth.

11:09.16 – 11:12.62

Mr. Herring and his sons, they don't come down and dictate and say, you will have these

11:12.62 – 11:12.88

hosts.

11:13.06 – 11:13.58

You are guests.

11:13.62 – 11:14.32

You won't have these guests.

11:14.48 – 11:15.52

You must use these talking points.

11:15.68 – 11:17.34

They're like, Dan, you have 30 years of experience.

11:17.60 – 11:20.64

We've been on the air 10 years, you know, more than us go.

11:20.92 – 11:22.90

And they let me be to tell the truth.

11:23.06 – 11:24.92

And so I really embrace that.

11:24.98 – 11:28.64

And I got to say it, I fell in love with the network and the family and they've treated

11:28.64 – 11:33.40

me like family and to watch them go through this and the 125 hardworking employees, it

11:33.40 – 11:34.74

pisses me off to no end, Tucker.

11:34.90 – 11:35.36

I bet it does.

11:35.38 – 11:38.80

That they can do this to us when we have that first article that talks about free speech

11:38.80 – 11:40.40

and freedom of the press.

11:40.82 – 11:42.18

I've dedicated my adult life to it.

11:42.24 – 11:42.64

So have you.

11:42.94 – 11:47.06

And now we're dealing with this bullshit where they can just try and shut down an entire

11:47.06 – 11:49.16

family owned mom and pop network.

11:49.44 – 11:50.22

It's disgusting.

11:50.54 – 11:51.40

It's so un-American.

11:51.64 – 11:52.58

It's like what's happening with the border.

11:53.26 – 11:55.92

The people in charge don't want to be criticized.

11:56.16 – 11:56.52

Of course.

11:57.00 – 11:57.32

Right.

11:57.48 – 11:59.72

But in this country, they're not allowed to do anything about it.

11:59.74 – 12:00.64

But suddenly they are.

12:01.20 – 12:01.24

Exactly.

12:01.24 – 12:08.16

So tell me about the carriers and for those who aren't in this business, explain if you

12:08.16 – 12:08.88

would how that works.

12:09.02 – 12:09.74

What do you mean carrier?

12:09.98 – 12:13.78

So from satellite and cable and online services.

12:13.98 – 12:20.82

So in the year of 2022, from May, August and November, if I got those three months correct

12:20.82 – 12:25.88

and it went in this order, I believe, DirecTV, Verizon, Fios and Frontier all dropped us.

12:25.96 – 12:26.74

So that means.

12:26.88 – 12:27.74

About 20 million households.

12:27.74 – 12:29.80

You produced the product, the programming, the shows.

12:30.56 – 12:37.00

And then those shows come into the homes of your viewers through wires owned by and services

12:37.00 – 12:38.52

provided by the companies you just listed.

12:38.54 – 12:39.88

And there's contracts worked out and whatnot.

12:40.06 – 12:43.02

And I can't go too deep into all that because there's pending lawsuits.

12:43.18 – 12:43.76

Of course.

12:44.00 – 12:47.14

But that's another way they've tried to silence us is through lawsuits.

12:48.48 – 12:53.58

Are you satisfied, is management of the company satisfied, do you sincerely believe, no BS,

12:53.58 – 12:58.16

that you were dropped from those providers because of pressure from the Congress?

12:59.06 – 12:59.50

110%.

13:00.30 – 13:00.62

Of course.

13:01.00 – 13:06.60

Listen, right before they started dropping us, ComScore, which is a rating service I'm

13:06.60 – 13:07.20

sure you're familiar with.

13:07.26 – 13:07.60

Yeah, of course.

13:07.70 – 13:09.14

Neilson, not the old school books and stuff.

13:09.42 – 13:15.58

But ComScore had us in the top 10, 15 networks of all the cable channels, 200 and some channels

13:15.58 – 13:17.20

you get on like Direct and Dish.

13:17.80 – 13:20.92

We were actually scoring close to some of the Fox business shows.

13:21.06 – 13:22.18

We were beating Newsmax.

13:22.18 – 13:23.00

We were climbing.

13:23.10 – 13:24.76

My show personally was climbing big time.

13:25.06 – 13:29.26

And then all of a sudden, we're killed because they saw us growing.

13:29.40 – 13:33.08

They saw the audience tuning in to want to hear some truth because they're not...

13:33.08 – 13:34.84

Come on, can you trust MSNBC and CNN?

13:35.00 – 13:35.50

You used to work there.

13:35.80 – 13:40.14

And to a degree, some of the folks on Fox, a lot of the mainstream media, I think Americans

13:40.14 – 13:40.86

are wising up.

13:40.98 – 13:44.20

You can't trust anymore because everybody's figuring out you have to spew a narrative

13:44.20 – 13:45.98

depending on which network you work for.

13:46.68 – 13:48.04

So that doesn't happen at OAN.

13:48.94 – 13:51.76

Well that is factually true, I can say.

13:51.76 – 13:52.52

I can tell you.

13:52.78 – 13:54.32

Yeah, no, I know that to be true.

14:21.76 – 14:25.66

We do all of that every single day right here on America on Trial with Josh Hammer.

14:25.76 – 14:28.80

Subscribe and download your episodes wherever you get your podcasts.

14:28.82 – 14:30.40

It's America on Trial with Josh Hammer.

14:34.36 – 14:35.66

So what happens then?

14:35.78 – 14:36.58

They just, they stop.

14:36.68 – 14:38.96

We're not going to carry your signal into people's homes anymore?

14:39.38 – 14:40.34

Again, I can't go into particulars.

14:40.46 – 14:46.72

All I can tell you is that Mr. Herring and his sons tried like hell to keep us on those

14:46.72 – 14:48.44

carriers and we were dropped.

14:48.80 – 14:49.80

And that's as far as I can tell.

14:49.84 – 14:50.52

So what do you do?

14:50.52 – 14:52.26

No, I get it.

14:53.38 – 14:57.62

I don't want any more lawsuits against myself, Mr. Herring, and our wonderful network.

14:57.86 – 14:59.18

And the employees don't deserve that either.

14:59.46 – 15:02.66

So that's why for the first time in 30 some years, I'm nervous doing this interview.

15:02.74 – 15:03.12

No, no, no.

15:03.40 – 15:09.22

Because I don't want to get a company who's struggling to stay afloat because of what

15:09.22 – 15:12.02

the Democrats have been doing because I misspoke.

15:12.52 – 15:15.70

But this story's got to be told and you have a massive audience and you can help.

15:15.76 – 15:19.20

Well I've certainly very often been in the position you are now in.

15:19.30 – 15:23.20

You're working for a company you think is doing a good thing and they're kind to you

15:23.20 – 15:27.40

and you don't want to inadvertently cause them more problems by talking too much.

15:27.62 – 15:27.76

Yeah.

15:28.02 – 15:30.52

So I'm very, very familiar with that position.

15:30.62 – 15:34.56

But the story needs to be shared because like you said at the beginning, we're talking about

15:34.56 – 15:35.20

the first amendment.

15:35.38 – 15:38.36

So what happened to, and right, and the first amendment doesn't mean anything if no one

15:38.36 – 15:38.98

can hear you.

15:39.60 – 15:39.92

Right?

15:40.04 – 15:44.36

You may have a right to speak, but if they lock you in a room and no one can hear your

15:44.36 – 15:47.82

words and it's, it's a, it's immaterial, it's not a real right.

15:49.10 – 15:50.76

What happened to your viewership after?

15:51.62 – 15:57.94

We had to not rebuild because we still were on, I think a hundred and some small cable

15:57.94 – 16:01.32

affiliates around the country in different states where, you know, you might have a town

16:01.32 – 16:03.54

of 50,000 and their local cable is a co-op.

16:03.86 – 16:04.84

They chose to keep it.

16:04.84 – 16:06.04

So you got taken off all the big ones?

16:06.18 – 16:06.74

All the big ones.

16:07.10 – 16:07.68

All the big ones?

16:07.68 – 16:08.18

All the big ones.

16:08.48 – 16:09.14

So then-

16:09.14 – 16:12.62

Wait, and just to be clear without getting into the details, but just so our audience

16:12.62 – 16:16.52

can make their own judgments about what happened and why, these companies are not connected

16:16.52 – 16:16.94

to each other.

16:16.98 – 16:18.56

They're independent companies.

16:18.74 – 16:18.92

Yeah.

16:19.24 – 16:19.42

Right.

16:19.42 – 16:20.28

So they all-

16:20.28 – 16:20.76

But they all got the letters.

16:21.50 – 16:22.62

They all received those letters.

16:22.64 – 16:25.34

You know for a fact they received the letters and they all dropped you within a short time.

16:25.34 – 16:28.40

If you read the letters, it literally says we sent to cable and they call the cable and

16:28.40 – 16:29.10

satellite carriers out.

16:29.26 – 16:33.70

So yes, I would assume it went to every single major cable and satellite carrier from these

16:33.70 – 16:37.70

four Democrat senators and two members of the house, all Democrats.

16:38.62 – 16:42.18

So and shortly thereafter, you were dropped by all the big cable carriers.

16:42.18 – 16:42.76

In the same year.

16:43.12 – 16:43.42

Yes.

16:43.74 – 16:44.44

And then-

16:44.44 – 16:49.76

So I think a fair, without knowing any other information, and maybe you guys committed

16:49.76 – 16:51.98

some heinous crime that I'm not aware of, I haven't heard that.

16:52.64 – 16:56.50

But just on the basis of what you said, which I think is checkable, a fair person would

16:56.50 – 16:57.80

conclude they did that in response.

16:58.68 – 17:01.82

Well I think I would conclude on the basis of that information.

17:02.20 – 17:03.06

You're a pretty smart guy, Tucker.

17:03.24 – 17:05.32

I don't know about that, but like I can-

17:06.54 – 17:07.98

I can note the obvious.

17:08.52 – 17:13.10

I think any American out there with common sense can look at the timeline and say two

17:13.10 – 17:15.66

and two is four, because math isn't racist.

17:16.02 – 17:16.16

Right.

17:16.32 – 17:17.76

No, math is not racist.

17:18.30 – 17:20.30

Maybe the only thing immune from racism.

17:20.64 – 17:21.80

So let's destroy it.

17:22.02 – 17:22.14

Yeah.

17:22.96 – 17:24.68

So where does that leave the company?

17:24.92 – 17:25.74

So here's what we did.

17:25.88 – 17:26.84

We had to scramble.

17:26.96 – 17:28.48

We had seen what happened to, I believe it was Parler.

17:28.56 – 17:31.62

Remember when Parler got shut down because the third party servers shut them down.

17:31.98 – 17:32.58

We didn't want to-

17:32.58 – 17:33.62

And not just the servers.

17:33.86 – 17:37.22

Like I think if I'm remembering correctly, it was everybody.

17:37.46 – 17:38.82

It was the entire, what they call the stack.

17:38.82 – 17:43.74

It was all the service providers between the content creator and the consumer, all, I think

17:43.74 – 17:44.60

their lawyers dropped them.

17:44.72 – 17:45.04

I mean, it was-

17:45.04 – 17:47.04

And since we were worried about the same thing, right?

17:47.08 – 17:50.04

Just like when Trump started truth, you've got to go build everything on your own from

17:50.04 – 17:50.40

scratch.

17:50.60 – 17:54.08

If you hire one of these third party vendors, they're going to listen to the powers that

17:54.08 – 17:54.28

be.

17:54.36 – 17:55.10

So we don't want to trust them.

17:55.16 – 17:57.60

So we had to build our own app, build up the servers, everything.

17:57.76 – 18:00.82

And then we launched OANN app.

18:00.92 – 18:03.50

So you can go to our website, you download it, it's like four or five bucks a month.

18:03.56 – 18:05.28

And then you get live streaming on demand, everything.

18:05.44 – 18:07.48

So we're going streaming like everybody is anyway, because let's be real.

18:07.48 – 18:11.68

In 20 years, what's local news and cable and satellite going to be?

18:11.84 – 18:12.58

Everything's streaming.

18:12.98 – 18:13.94

Like it's moving that way.

18:14.10 – 18:16.64

So that took us a while to ramp back up.

18:16.76 – 18:17.94

And a ton of money too.

18:18.08 – 18:18.74

And a ton of money.

18:18.90 – 18:24.86

But Mr. Herring, who has an amazing story of perseverance and coming from nothing, Louisiana

18:24.86 – 18:30.46

to creating millions of dollars for himself in multiple industries over the decades, and

18:30.46 – 18:35.90

then getting into TV news about 10, 12 years ago, he's been kicking cash in and saying,

18:35.90 – 18:38.26

we're going to fight this if we have to, all the way to Supreme Court.

18:38.42 – 18:39.44

We're not backing down.

18:39.62 – 18:42.24

We have a right to broadcast and they cannot shut us up.

18:42.48 – 18:44.12

Are they trying to bankrupt us and put us out of business?

18:44.22 – 18:47.46

Or they legitimately have a concern that we're purveyors of disinformation?

18:47.76 – 18:50.84

Because I can name probably about nine of the major stories over the last three or four

18:50.84 – 18:51.40

years I've covered.

18:51.56 – 18:52.42

And we were right.

18:52.86 – 18:53.70

And we were right first.

18:53.80 – 18:54.24

Oh, I'm aware.

18:54.26 – 18:55.54

Because we had the guts to say it.

18:55.68 – 18:59.32

Because we didn't have corporate lackeys telling us we couldn't like the other big networks.

18:59.70 – 19:04.22

So yeah, I mean, I've been accused of being a tool for Putin, of Putin, of Russia, for,

19:04.22 – 19:07.64

you know, which is, I would say, material effect in my life.

19:07.70 – 19:10.14

I've never sued anyone over that, you know, and I never will.

19:10.32 – 19:11.30

So I've never sued anybody.

19:11.38 – 19:13.86

I never will sue anybody because I don't believe in lawsuits.

19:14.24 – 19:19.38

But anyway, leaving that aside, it's just interesting that coming out of, this is whining,

19:19.50 – 19:25.20

but I can't resist, you know, eight years of like nonstop lying by the Daily Beast and

19:25.20 – 19:29.30

Rolling Stone and NBC News and CNN and MSNBC and all the rest about really big things like

19:29.30 – 19:33.28

life and death things, insurrections and potential nuclear wars.

19:33.28 – 19:34.58

The Russian collusion hoax.

19:34.86 – 19:35.26

Exactly.

19:35.80 – 19:39.36

I mean, if somebody's purveying our misinformation, Tucker, why aren't those other networks getting

19:39.36 – 19:40.00

letters sent about that?

19:40.00 – 19:40.96

Well, that is sort of the question.

19:41.10 – 19:41.30

Right?

19:41.30 – 19:42.86

Why aren't they getting kicked off for misinformation?

19:44.04 – 19:44.36

Thank you.

19:44.54 – 19:45.48

That's my first question.

19:45.78 – 19:50.58

If we said something y'all said was misinformation, then I can point to, as you just said, probably

19:50.58 – 19:56.24

10 or a dozen major stories that CNN, MSNBC and others have lied or falsely reported about

19:56.24 – 19:59.50

over the last, well, since 2015, 16, since Trump came on the scene.

19:59.64 – 20:00.86

Are they kicked off carriers?

20:01.24 – 20:01.88

Are they being sued?

20:02.44 – 20:02.88

Draw your own conclusion.

20:02.88 – 20:05.00

Well, our economy's on the verge of collapse.

20:05.12 – 20:10.20

Our country's being invaded and we are literally on the cusp of nuclear war, actually, all

20:10.20 – 20:16.82

because of lies told by NBC News, CNN, I mean, told by their masters in Washington, but repeated

20:17.44 – 20:18.16

by them.

20:18.24 – 20:20.96

And people died because of the COVID lies.

20:21.32 – 20:25.78

I mean, let's all remember, again, as I said earlier, you had the winter of death and you

20:25.78 – 20:30.26

had hosts out there like Rachel Maddow saying, if you get the vax, you will not spread it.

20:30.32 – 20:31.02

You will not die.

20:31.02 – 20:31.50

Go get it.

20:31.60 – 20:32.30

Remember all those people?

20:32.46 – 20:32.50

Yeah.

20:32.62 – 20:35.72

And the celebrities coming together, railing around Joe saying, you must take it.

20:35.80 – 20:37.44

And the people that don't are going to kill people.

20:37.72 – 20:41.70

We just told people, uh, it's your body.

20:41.84 – 20:43.10

No one can force you to take it.

20:43.20 – 20:45.40

And by the way, here's the VAERS reporting website.

20:45.52 – 20:46.28

Have you looked at VAERS?

20:46.48 – 20:49.76

Because there's millions of side effects and thousands of deaths.

20:50.12 – 20:51.02

Those were facts.

20:51.26 – 20:52.76

Yet, we would get fact-checked.

20:52.84 – 20:56.40

We would get shadow banned for saying factual stuff.

20:56.60 – 21:00.32

You wonder about, I always want to, I don't have any abortion ladies in my life, thank

21:00.32 – 21:00.56

you, Kevin.

21:00.74 – 21:04.24

But, um, when I see the abortion ladies on TV, I always want to say, whatever happened

21:04.24 – 21:05.30

to my body, my choice.

21:05.86 – 21:06.56

You know?

21:06.70 – 21:06.90

Right.
