02:13.20 – 03:15.26

And even in our physical being through our spiritual journeys, I say that because that lovely buzzword, cortisol, is coming to mind. And, in my opinion, amidst the buzz of the trending health topics like cortisol, stress management is key. And whenever I'm asked about cortisol levels, or what are my thoughts on cortisol and herbs or cortisol, cortisol, cortisol, before the first herb comes to mind, or even the latest supplement, I think about someone's journey and how they're able to bounce back. And with that in mind, it brings forth the timeless aspect of well-being, which to me is spirituality. But before we continue, let's clarify cortisol, often associated with stress, is a hormone released by the adrenal glands in response to perceived threats.

03:15.84 – 03:47.96

It could be dealing with work, relationships, health, financial, some random uncertainty, et cetera, et cetera. And understanding that cortisol plays a crucial role in our fight or flight response, which is needed to prepare the body to react swiftly in challenging situations, cortisol is still usually demonized. However, I understand why some people may jump to that particular conclusion. But today's focus isn't managing cortisol levels.

03:50.34 – 03:54.86

It's not really, yeah, it's not really even about cortisol per se.

03:56.74 – 04:23.06

It's about how our spiritual practices can influence our mental, emotional, and even physical health. And I felt that was pretty cool. And I wanted to share that with our lovely listeners. So joining us, like I stated, is that special guest. And they've integrated spiritual practices into their daily life, harnessing their own power to navigate challenges and promote healing.

04:23.44 – 05:08.58

As they've now navigated their own path to healing, guided by a deep spiritual connection to source, they've agreed to share those personal and even professional perspectives that they've acquired. So I'm really excited about that. So I share with you today about connecting with something greater than ourselves. That's if I had to sum it up, that's what comes to mind, connecting with something greater than ourselves, be it through nature or spiritual practices, a profound healing across all aspects of life is obtainable. And again, yes, even within our physical health.

05:08.58 – 05:53.04

It's undeniable that spirituality in its mirrored forms has been woven into the fabric of human existence since ancient times. From rituals to sacred texts, meditation practices to, let's say, communal gatherings or ceremonies or rituals, however you maybe want to state it, the quest for spiritual connection has shaped cultures and civilizations across the globe. To put your mind at ease, I'm not here to promote one belief system over another. Instead, I'm here to explore the universal thread that ties us, these souls having a human experience. all together.

05:53.48 – 06:34.10

Our individual connections to source, God, creator, whatever floats your boat, the profound impact spirituality can have on a personal journey of healing and growth. It can be seen in our emotional well-being and even in our physical health, or, you know, recovery or lack thereof. I know I've had my own healing process and, embarking on my own spiritual journey. I've discovered tangible tools along the way from sipping herbal tea that may have sedative-like effects. or it's an anxiolytic.

06:34.30 – 07:31.26

It can help allay or assist with anxiety, or maybe it has some level of an impact on the central nervous system. I've even used that on its own or during meditation or using grounding techniques or attending song bowl healing sessions to immerse myself in the soothing vibrations of sound. Oh, fun fact, sound bowl healing, also known as sound bowl therapy or Tibetan singing bowl therapy, it's a form of vibrational sound therapy, yeah, where the singing bowls are used as tools for healing and relaxation. Like I said, I recently attended one that was facilitated actually by today's guest and their partner. And during these ceremonies or sacred circles, these song bowls are other instruments that are commonly used.

07:31.40 – 08:04.88

I mentioned that a little bit ago, but these sound bowls are typically made from various metals such as copper, tin, zinc, iron, and sometimes precious metals like gold and silver. You may even find them made with different crystals. I'm not well-versed in that, however, it's pretty cool. But during a sound bowl healing session, a lot of times the practitioners will strike it and rub the bowls with the mallet and it produces this harmonic vibration and it has these soothing sounds. It's lovely.

08:05.14 – 09:14.86

It feels like it fills up my ears. But from my limited understanding of sound bowls, the theory behind sound bowl healing is that the vibrations produced by the bowls resonates with the body's frequencies, helping to restore balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. And when I've looked into this practice, I found that it's rooted in ancient Tibetan Buddhist traditions and it's spread globally as a holistic approach to wellness, meditation, or spiritual connection. And some of the benefits commonly shared are often associated, like, let's see, stress reduction, that's usually associated, deep relaxation, enhanced meditation, improved sleep, and relief from physical and emotional pain. And I can say from someone that lives with anxiety, has their own tools, during those sessions, focusing on that sound, my mind isn't focused on other thoughts if they were, say, bouncing about in directions I didn't desire.

09:14.86 – 09:40.42

So I know it's used not only for individual sessions, but it's also in group settings like the one I attended. And some people have them at workshops, wellness retreats, where participants can experience the therapeutic effects of sound vibrations together, and that's pretty cool. And if you're wondering, yes, I have fallen asleep. Yes, I was snoring. And why do I know this?

09:40.42 – 10:04.60

One of those snores woke me up from the vibration happening in my nostrils. But I digress. I digress. I will point out, I did not fall asleep this last time. One, because I didn't want to be a distraction, since I am now aware that I may snore in a public setting, whether I want to or not.

10:04.68 – 10:34.28

Please believe me, I do not want to. But I chose to move positions if I found myself drifting, and it worked. And even though drifting off to sleep is a compliment to the practitioner, they were able to assist with guiding you into such a relaxed state that you did fall asleep outside of the comfort of your home. Again, I am now aware that I snore, so I chose to move my body about. Anyhoo.

10:34.28 – 11:09.10

But as I laid there the thought of the fact that when I accepted that life is a never-ending journey, because we are continuously wanting more, or expanding, if you will, our human experience and the pathways to fulfillment, we, as souls inhabiting human bodies, our journey is often marked by a quest for deep joy and satisfaction. Period. Point. Blank. We want more because we think we will be happier when we have that.

11:09.62 – 11:24.02

Yet, no matter what we achieve or acquire, there's always a yearning for more. Oh, I lost those 10 pounds. Let's see if I can do five more. Or, oh, I am now able to do 30 pull-ups. Let's see if I can do 50..

11:24.14 – 11:35.04

You see what I mean? I know these are simplistic, but yet we want more. Sometimes it's unfortunate. Well, I won't say unfortunate, but sometimes it's, I beat cancer. I wonder if I can do it again.

11:35.42 – 11:58.06

You know what I mean? And why is that? Why do we want more? I feel it's because, at our core, we, being these expansive beings constantly evolving and seeking greater fulfillment, this inherent desire to grow and expand is a fundamental aspect of our existence. Gratitude is more than just a polite gesture.

11:58.64 – 12:49.34

It's a powerful force that aligns us with the abundance of the universe. And when we cultivate gratitude, we shift our focus from lack to abundance, from fear to trust. And this shift allows us to open ourselves, to receive and manifest the desires of our heart, no matter what those things may be. And in my personal life, I have found that over the last four years, embracing gratitude in our daily life allows us to create a fertile ground for our intentions to take root and flourish, whether it's through prayer, meditation, or simply acknowledging the blessings around us. The practice of gratitude empowers us to co-create our reality with the universe.

12:49.64 – 12:54.90

And, yes, even when navigating physical and or mental discomforts.

12:56.84 – 13:37.22

Okay, so, joining us today, we have that special guest I mentioned, Jasmine Danielle. She is a Reiki master, a spiritual wellness coach, and that's just the tip of the iceberg as to what she offers. And let's check in. How are you doing today?

1Speaker 1
18:31.92 – 18:34.76

I'm doing well. I'm happy to be here. Thank you for having me.

2Speaker 2
18:35.16 – 18:52.70

I'm so welcome. Jasmine, you are a wealth of information. Tell our listeners a little bit about yourself as far as what you currently do. Side note, she's one of my mentees and the owner of Queendom Cultivation. She'll take it from there.

1Speaker 1
18:53.46 – 19:31.06

Yes, I'm the owner of Queendom Cultivation, the only Black-owned spiritual wellness center in Las Vegas. We also serve the international community as a whole through our e-commerce platform, but we host a wide variety of services. We offer Reiki, energy healing, crystal light therapy, aura photography, sound healing, so many different modalities to spiritual wellness. So that's what I do right now. I'm an entrepreneur in that capacity, but I am a Reiki master in my own right and also a spiritual wellness coach with serving my own clients.

2Speaker 2
19:31.54 – 19:37.34

Beautiful. So how did you first become interested in crystals and altars as tools for spiritual growth?

1Speaker 1
19:37.94 – 20:09.86

So I've always said that my partner, Sharit, who is also at Queendom Cultivation, he introduced me to crystals back in 2016,, buying me my first rose quartz bracelet. And that was my first conscious connection to crystals for their healing, spiritual healing benefits. I was working in nonprofit. I was dealing with a lot of functional depression. I was in grad school full time, and I was really neglecting myself.

20:10.36 – 20:36.06

And it wasn't until he gifted me that crystal and I started to learn more about crystals that I was actually able to receive the benefits of them. So I just started collecting them, initially wanting to outgrow his collection and beat him. It became like a friendly competition. But then I really just started to love working with them for my own personal use. One of my coworkers asked me why I didn't sell them or wrap them as jewelry.

20:36.98 – 20:46.18

And once she said that, it clicked to me. I was like, oh, my God, I should. I love this. This makes so much sense. And from there, Queendom Cultivation was born.

20:46.62 – 21:11.52

But as I talked to a lot of my family members, especially as of late, even as recent as this past weekend, where I saw my uncle for the first time in like 10 years, he was like, I told you when you were a kid, you were going to be something. You was always playing with them rocks and plants. And I'm like, huh, I was. It still, it came as news to me. But my mom, she reaffirmed that also.

21:11.52 – 21:25.16

She said, you were always playing with rocks. And I don't think I had the conscious awareness of the properties, the healing benefits of the crystals at the time. I know I didn't, but I just knew that's what I was attracted to.

2Speaker 2
21:26.04 – 21:37.86

Beautiful. So it started in childhood. And here we are many moons later. Okay, so could you explain the significance of crystals and spiritual practices and how they're used?

1Speaker 1
21:38.56 – 21:58.46

There's a lot of different ways to use crystals. Some people like to use them aesthetically, placing them around their home. Some people like to wear them. They like that they're pretty, but other folks like them because of the balancing that it brings to the mind, body, and spirit. And crystals have their own energetic force.

21:58.80 – 22:24.72

And when we use them, it helps to impact our own energetic force, oftentimes bringing us into balance, uplifting our moods or helping us feel more grounded. So, whether or not you're carrying them in your pocket, or you're wearing them as rings, or you have them around your home, there's still an energy field that emanates from the crystals. that helps to balance our own energy as well. And it's not complicated. It doesn't have to be super involved.

22:24.72 – 22:56.80

You can do something as small as putting them under your pillow. You can do something as small as keeping it in your glove box, in your car. It's really the intention, where your energy is going, that really helps magnify what you receive back from the crystals. It's like any relationship, any symbiotic relationship, anything you put your energy and intention into, it's going to return that back to you. And so I always say, as long as you cleanse them, you take care of them, you clear the energy from them, you reset your intention, they'll do the same thing for you.

22:56.98 – 23:03.50

And the properties that they carry will be magnified and help you with whatever it is that you're looking for.

2Speaker 2
23:04.44 – 23:22.64

Nice. And as an herbalist, I like to look at herbs as tools. So whenever meeting you initially and learning how you viewed crystals and utilized them, it was absolutely fantastic. I even overheard you tell one of your customers, you don't need a crystal. And I was like, hey, I love that.

23:22.64 – 23:33.32

I've said that very thing. You don't need an herb. So when you tell someone they don't need a crystal, are you talking about that? setting their intention? if there isn't truly like an intention there?

23:33.68 – 23:41.20

The crystal is just there, with holding its properties, like. where were you coming from when you said they didn't need one?

1Speaker 1
23:42.72 – 23:58.10

It's like when people want to take herbs and they just. they see all these different types of herbs and they're like, well, I can take all of like, can I just take them all at once? And won't they help? But with no real intention as to what they're specifically working on. It's the same thing with crystals, too.

23:58.92 – 24:19.20

Last night, after our sound bath, a lady shared to me that she couldn't. She's surprised she didn't feel drawn to any of the crystals in the store. She's like, I usually just gravitate towards something, but I'm so serene right now. And I said, that's because you may not need a crystal. if you usually use crystals to feel the type of serenity that you're experiencing right now.

24:19.20 – 24:38.50

It's probably because you don't need that tool in this moment. And they are tools. And it's not always going to be necessary that you use every single tool in your Rolodex. Sometimes what you need is a sound bath and to maybe take a nap. It could be equivalent to picking up a black tourmaline so that you feel more grounded.

24:39.10 – 24:48.26

So there's. I'm never going to sell a crystal to someone just to get a sale. That's not in alignment with my integrity. I'm going to be honest with you. Everybody doesn't need crystals.

24:48.26 – 25:00.96

Everybody doesn't need herbs. It really is about what that person's intentions are in that period of time. And if it's not in alignment with that tool at the moment, it's okay to explore other tools.

2Speaker 2
25:01.64 – 25:10.06

Nice. I love that perspective. So what advice do you have for someone new to using crystals or creating alters in their home?

1Speaker 1
25:10.86 – 25:33.42

Take the idea out of your head that you can do it wrong. That there's one right way to do it. And there are wrong ways to do it. because automatically, if you're starting that way, you're automatically limiting yourself and the types of connections that you can have, because you're probably using someone else's experience as a reflection of what yours has to look like. And that's not realistic for your own spiritual journey.

25:33.72 – 25:54.98

So, if you're interested in using your crystals in a particular way, and you feel good about that, explore what feels best for you. But take the idea of messing it up somehow out of your mind. Same thing with setting up alters. Does it feel right for you to have these pictures on your altar? What kind of altar?

25:55.16 – 26:06.88

Be intentional about what it is that you're practicing, what your intention is about it. And don't be so afraid of right and wrong, because it's not black and white. It's your practice.

2Speaker 2
26:07.64 – 26:35.50

I love that because I'm a big proponent on no cookie cutter approach to holistic wellness. So, hearing that in the spiritual realm, and understanding mind, body, spirit perspectives, it's so beautiful. So, to your knowledge, are there many people leaving, say, organized religion to explore their own spirituality? And do you have a personal story you're comfortable sharing?

1Speaker 1
26:37.30 – 26:48.74

There's a lot of folks that come looking for directions as to where to go in the spiritual realm. Do I start with crystals? Do I start with herbs? Can I burn incense? Is this against God?

26:50.22 – 27:14.28

There is a spiritual warfare happening within so many people because we've come to believe that it has to be black or white. And so I see a lot of customers come in, and they're just curious. They're just asking questions. And at the root of a lot of their questions is fear of going against God. And as someone who grew up Southern Baptist Christian, I know what that's rooted in.

27:14.32 – 27:45.40

That's literally been my life. But at some point, I said, my God does not want me to live in fear. My God is not going to condemn me for taking use of the tools that my God placed here on this earth to become the best version of myself and ultimately the best human I can be, which is one of love. And I'm not here to judge or condemn anyone else for their own religious or spiritual practices. I really believe, if it floats your boat, let it float.

27:45.80 – 28:09.92

Whatever, as long as you're not harming anyone else, this is your life to live. And there are a lot of folks who just need that permission. It. when I tell them my perspective on this, it's like I've like unshackled them a little bit, because the mind is truly not exposed to belief outside of just. it has to be this linear way.

28:10.12 – 28:44.82

I have to find connection to source through the church. It's very hard for people to even fathom that they can carry their crystals to church. It's. it's been a very interesting journey that I've been on, and I see a lot of people on their own path gravitating towards holistic spirituality and other folks kind of going back to organized religion and whatever they need to do to feel the most comfortable within themselves. I support it because at the end of the day, it's your life.

28:45.46 – 29:14.02

There were a lot of folks that gravitated towards this type of holistic spirituality during the pandemic, because, especially when we couldn't be around one another, we had to sit with ourselves more. We had to get, we were dealing with fear and anxiety, and we didn't really know what was happening. A lot of people sought out other answers. They had time to research and reflect and deal with their stuff. And they recognized the world had been keeping them distracted from their stuff.

29:14.02 – 29:34.30

But what happens when we all pause and we just have to sit in the thick of it? And you can't even gather at church to save you. There were a lot of folks that came over to this area of wellness for answers. And a lot of folks did the work, and a lot of folks found what felt right for them. They were able to find their footing.

29:34.84 – 30:03.12

But once the world kind of opened back up and things kind of went back to normal and the life started taking over, life started lifing, people kind of went back to their old practices and their old ways, because what we do is we find what is comfortable for us. And for many people who grew up in those institutions, that is their space of comfort. So I'm going to be here. Our work is going to be here. We're going to continue to do the work that we're doing and hold space.

30:03.84 – 30:22.24

But there's never any forcing. There's never any convincing and definitely no condemnation coming from us, because what we aspire for is for everybody to be the best version of themselves, to ultimately make the collection, the collective better as a whole.

2Speaker 2
30:22.94 – 30:47.48

Yes. Oh, you said such great points there. Three things that stood out to me when you said some of your customers almost act as if they need permission, or at least they've received permission, after speaking with you, with you coming from this unbiased place. That is so beautiful to hear from someone that's also a guide. It's almost like giving them informed consent to choose.

30:47.90 – 31:09.50

That's so beautiful. And then, when you stated about during the COVID time, sitting with self, and that's so true. We were such go, go, go. in this rat race. Many times we were just pouring into our jobs, into children, into family members, into whatever other, I don't call family distractions, but other things that could be taking your mind away from self.

31:10.12 – 31:23.50

And that's so beautiful. And then you mentioned some did the work. Can you elaborate on what does doing the work look like? I understand sitting with self, but for a newbie, what would that look like for someone?

1Speaker 1
31:24.88 – 31:53.48

I think I define the work as facing what the shadows are, facing those challenges and not necessarily running away from them. A lot of folks will try and find what feels most comfortable. So they'll deny parts of themselves that aren't the most appealing. We'll just, you know, ignore those areas, because it's harder to go through the pain again of what you're healing from. And the work is growing through the pain of what you need to heal from.

31:53.50 – 32:38.42

And so a lot of, I just find that a lot of folks, and I hate to say a lot of folks, but it's been a lot of people that we've come into contact with that we just see running from what's difficult. It's not going to be easy. We have years and years and years of built up traumas and experiences that need to be unpacked, that are impacting us from leading a life of fulfillment, leading a life of freedom and liberation from our own self-limiting beliefs. And so the work is unlearning those habits that we have created and cultivating a relationship with ourselves that is in most alignment with our highest self and our highest good.

2Speaker 2
32:39.28 – 32:54.66

Yes, self-limiting beliefs and unlearning. It starts with self. And oftentimes we are rediscovering self. Sometimes people call it going back to their roots, going back to Eden, so to speak. With this spiritual practice, oh, this is beautiful.

32:54.86 – 33:08.10

So, really quick, before we go to break, how do you help individuals navigate this transition, say they grew up in the church and they're wanting to explore spirituality, or some hybridization of the two?

1Speaker 1
33:08.82 – 33:34.56

It looks different with every individual, but what we start off with is unpacking the parts of their upbringing that they loved. What about your spiritual practice in organized religion felt really good to you? What brought you joy in that? Because we're not saying that organized religion is this terrible place and you should leave the church and you should leave your family. No, that's a cult.

33:34.88 – 33:54.64

We're not doing that. We're not saying to do that. What we're asking is take what feels good and discard what doesn't bring you peace. It's okay to do that. So we look at it from a lens of keeping and holding on to what it is that you care about, that you want to bring into the next chapter of your life.

33:54.70 – 34:14.34

And we find ways to integrate that into the spiritual practices that you're interested in. And we create a routine out of that. We see. how can we create a practice, because it is a practice, a practice of incorporating every aspect of yourself, not forcing you to choose between one way or the other.

2Speaker 2
34:14.78 – 34:53.34

See, you hear this? This is why I invited Jaz, as my lovely person, to interview on today's show. So after the break, we have some more questions we're going to go over together, such as some common challenges people face when developing their own practice, as well as maybe even some of her own personal story or experiences in reference to crystals and or even altar practices, and how that has made a significant impact on someone's journey or even her personal spiritual journey. So stay tuned, and we'll be right back with more Energetic Health Radio after these messages.

All right, Healers, welcome back. I still have Jasmine Danielle on, our lovely Reiki master and spiritual wellness consultant, connoisseur, extraordinaire. All right. Those are just my added titles, so to speak, like I mentioned. We were going to talk a little bit more about what are some common challenges people face when developing their own spiritual practices.

38:43.10 – 38:45.86

So let's hop right back on in there. What are your thoughts on that?

1Speaker 1
38:46.56 – 39:02.86

Um, I think it ties back into the thinking that you can do it wrong. So feeling as though there are rules to developing your own practice, when wellness is you. What does your wellness look like? And it's your spirit. So what does your spiritual wellness look like?

2Speaker 2
39:03.92 – 39:19.36

Yes, your spirit. 100%. This is an individualized walk. The same way, I can't wish upon sickness to make someone sick be. well, it's my own journey.

39:19.78 – 39:49.80

So thinking you can do it wrong. Are there any common misconceptions you found? And before you answer that, a common misconception in my own practice that I found surrounding spiritual wellness is whenever I mention meditation or some level of prayer, individuals think of, I need to be sitting on the side of a mountain surrounded by candles and, you know, complete silence. But then they say, keeps talking. Are there any common misconceptions as far as how people view what their spiritual practice should look like?

1Speaker 1
39:50.86 – 40:02.76

That's huge. That's a really big one, because we don't recognize that we can meditate in any moment. Like you can be in deep meditation at any point. You don't have to sit in stillness. It's not even realistic for humans.

40:02.96 – 40:12.36

We're not meant to just turn our brains off. We can't. How to, how? How? Please enlighten me on how you can just literally think nothing.

40:12.74 – 40:33.80

I, I would love to know what that feels like. But also, that's not the only way to do it. There's beliefs that you have to dress certain ways in order to be spiritual. There's beliefs that you have to be vegan in order to be spiritual. You have to be love and light.

40:33.80 – 40:44.98

always. The misconception that I'm, I can't cuss. I'm supposed to be spiritual. I'm not supposed to feel this way. These thoughts about this person.

40:44.98 – 40:50.50

I'm supposed to. like everyone. I'm spiritual. That's not real. That's not real.

40:50.62 – 41:05.80

And I call that toxic positivity, because it also negates the natural occurrences of the human species. And it takes away like your freedom and free will. Learn from that. You don't like a person. Learn why.

41:06.00 – 41:21.08

And what does that mean about you? Is there something that that person triggers in you that you have to work through? It's not always about, oh, I'm a bad person because I don't like someone. No, it's we, we are all healing. We are all on different journeys.

41:21.30 – 41:34.12

No one is expecting you to like everyone. And not everybody's meant to be vegan. You know this. Everybody, everybody can't eat the same diet. Like we can't just completely deprive ourselves of certain nutrients too.

41:34.46 – 41:47.24

So it really depends on our own individual needs. And too often people try to. What's the word? Create a monolith. Be monolithic about spirituality.

41:47.74 – 42:00.48

We all are different. We're all our own individual selves. And once we really understand that, it allows for more freedom and expression, and permission also to be given.

2Speaker 2
42:01.26 – 42:22.58

So what you're, what I'm hearing? when you're saying this, it's almost like stand in your own authenticity, even with spirituality. And then you mentioned toxic positivity. Yes, you cannot slap me and I smile about it. First of all, granted, I understand, someone's put their hands on you and all of that jazz.

42:22.96 – 42:36.46

However, you're correct. We don't have to like everyone. Everyone's spirit or thoughts or integrity, or lack thereof, may not resonate with our higher self. And it may be triggering. Therefore, to protect ourselves, we may need to distance ourselves.

42:36.64 – 42:45.84

So you're 100%. And then you stated learn why. in reference to triggers. That's a wonderful time for self-reflection. Would you say.

42:45.84 – 42:49.26

spirituality is accountability and self-reflection?

1Speaker 1
42:49.60 – 42:51.74

It is self-awareness.

42:53.68 – 43:36.10

Self-realization. As much as you can learn about self, that's the thing about spirituality is it's helping you get more connected to yourself where there are other beliefs and practices that help you connect deeper to an outside source where you are allowed to, within spirituality, connect deeper to you. Some folks see that as finding God in self or finding source within self. But I think ultimately, whatever your belief in in this practice, the goal should become the best version of yourself, regardless of if you see that as godly or Christ-like. The goal should be, do you like yourself?

43:36.44 – 43:54.06

Do you love yourself? Are you a good person? Do you see goodness in yourself? Are you being the best version of yourself that you can be, with the understanding that best is going to differ from day to day? Also, and with that comes work as well.

43:54.60 – 44:21.12

Striving for just unattainable limitations and just really trying to create this life of just perfection is unrealistic. A lot of us, we judge ourselves based on how close we are to perfection, when I think spirituality allows us to accept ourselves at where we are.

2Speaker 2
44:22.40 – 44:42.96

Yes. Oh, so much so, yes. Our best definitively varies from day to day, because, A, you don't know what's coming tomorrow. And the only thing that is real is this very moment. And then, when you mention life, looking at life or spirituality from this perfection standpoint, it's unrealistic.

44:42.96 – 44:52.92

Do you feel that the perfection we sometimes could seek is our attempt to be accepted by others?

1Speaker 1
44:54.44 – 45:03.88

I can see that. I can see that as being a motivating factor, for sure, especially if we judge our own value based on perception.

2Speaker 2
45:04.58 – 45:06.68

Yes. Oh, my God. Yes.

1Speaker 1
45:08.92 – 45:11.68

External validation is one hell of a drug.

2Speaker 2
45:11.68 – 45:33.54

Oh, come on now. And if you're a recovering people, pleaser, I like to say I've recovered. However, from a previously recovering people pleaser, man, did that fold over into a variety of aspects of my life. I feel I may have walked away from organized religion sooner rather than later, if it weren't for how I felt it may impact others and my life. You see how we were.

45:33.54 – 45:46.78

still, it's a spiritual practice of self, or about self. in reference to self and self's connection to source. I was focused on, oh, I wonder, I don't want to worry them. They're going to think I'm going to this place that I no longer believe in.

1Speaker 1
45:47.14 – 46:07.96

They're going to think is crazy. Us basing our lives on what they're going to think, as if we even know what they're going to think, is wild. That is just such an exhausting way to live our own life. It is so inauthentic to our own needs and our own selves.

2Speaker 2
46:08.70 – 46:19.86

Exhausting is the word. How do you approach the concept of spirituality in a way that, say, respects different cultural and religious backgrounds?

1Speaker 1
46:20.64 – 46:23.48

I'm sorry, you just came back. You said, how do I approach what?

2Speaker 2
46:23.80 – 46:33.20

Oh, how do you approach the concept of spirituality in a way that respects different cultural and religious backgrounds?

1Speaker 1
46:33.92 – 46:54.32

We make room. We hold space for it. It doesn't have to be this or that. Just recognizing that alone is, it creates a practice of inclusivity. Just removing the exclusivity out of the equation.

46:55.42 – 47:19.82

It's so, you can do so much. I have on my personal altar Psalms 23.. I incorporate Bible verses into my own spiritual practice because I grew up Southern Baptist Christian. That is what my foundation is. I'm not just going to ignore the parts of my upbringing that I actually did resonate with.

47:20.30 – 47:48.52

Also, ancestrally, my ancestors were deeply devoted Christians. I'm not going to force upon them things that they wouldn't even care for necessarily. Yea, though I walk through, the valley of the shadow of death is on my altar. My grandmother is so pleased. I find connection in all areas of my life.

47:48.52 – 48:08.96

I don't just pick and choose what I want to claim as a part of me and what I don't want to claim, but what I will pick and choose is what I carry with me into the next parts of my journey. I can't change anything about my past, but I can choose what comes with me forward into my future.

2Speaker 2
48:10.10 – 48:22.22

Yes. Oh, you said a mouthful right there. You get to choose what comes with you. That makes me think of you. may not have caused your trauma, but your healing is your responsibility.

48:23.24 – 48:38.04

Oh, my goodness. Oh, that is so yummy. I had to take a second on that one. So what would you say, what role do rituals or ceremonies play in your spiritual teachings?

1Speaker 1
48:38.98 – 48:57.76

I say find what rituals and ceremonies feel best for you. I feel like. a lot of times, also with spiritual practices, too, we get caught up in the belief that we have to have rituals and everything has to be ceremony. That also creates pressure to lead a life of perfection. Oh, it's the full moon.

48:57.86 – 49:05.82

I have to do this. Oh, it's a new moon. I have to do this. Oh, it's raining. I have to go collect this water.

49:06.18 – 49:37.86

That is so unrealistic. Also, it creates these pressures on you to always be doing something, when spirit also just says be in flow. If you don't have the time, if you don't have the energy to go outside and collect rainwater, why would you go against what your body is telling you, what spirit is telling you? We are not, it's not about, again, you can't do it. wrong.

49:38.72 – 50:03.72

A lot of folks where we come from organized religion, it's the belief that you have to do this, or some power, a higher power, is going to be disappointed in you. You will be condemned and you will be judged. What I believe in about spirituality is that we remove the judgment. We remove the condemnation from our practice and we do what feels right for us. in that time and place.

50:04.14 – 50:37.32

We go with the flow. instead of forcing out of fear. Fear has to be removed from the equation as well, because when you start to look at all of the things that you've done out of fear, whether that be fear of rejection, fear of judgment, fear of disappointment, fear, oftentimes your fears aren't even rooted in yourself. The response or reaction from yourself is about what other people are going to fear. If you don't go collect rainwater, who does that impact besides yourself, if anything?

50:38.38 – 50:53.78

Exactly. That fear is unrealistic. You can't hold yourself to a standard of another way of life, in a new way of life on a new timeline. Let those beliefs go and find your freedom.

2Speaker 2
50:54.24 – 51:04.04

Oh, I love that. Especially when you stated we have to. Oh, I have to. Oh, man, it's the full moon. Is it waning?

51:04.30 – 51:18.92

Did I miss it? And all of that kind of stuff. And you articulated be in flow, and I think of alignment and how it feels right. It's the next logical step, or it's what feels. you feel led.

51:19.24 – 51:45.42

And when you go that particular direction, it feels good. So it's almost like you're using your emotions as your guidance system. And then, when you mentioned removing judgment, man, what somebody else thinks of you is none of your business. I heard that years ago and I repeated that to myself over and over, not truly understanding at the time, people, please. And that was kind of ingrained in there, but it made so much sense.

51:45.42 – 52:29.48

when thinking of spirituality. I oftentimes think of it's just a connection to our higher self, AKA source. And I also see in my private practice how someone's spiritual beliefs gives them something to draw strength from. And I found that when someone doesn't have some level of practice, whether spirituality or religious, there are different physical afflictions that they seem to deal with. Do you find that someone, let's say that's out of balance, or doesn't have some level of spiritual practice and experiences physical discomfort?

1Speaker 1
52:31.16 – 52:35.18

Do I? So let me rephrase, make sure I understand.

52:36.98 – 52:42.12

Do. I find that folks experience physical ailments due to spiritual imbalance?

2Speaker 2
52:42.94 – 52:50.56

Yes. Stating, let's say they don't have, they haven't found a source of strength to draw from. Therefore, they're kind of operating in this functional freeze.

1Speaker 1
52:56.38 – 53:25.86

I believe so. I have a relationship with family or just overall support system as a whole. A lot of people find support in their belief system, in the community that comes with their practices or beliefs. And so oftentimes, if we don't have a connection to anything that kind of serves as a compass for us, we feel lost. And within feeling lost, that impacts our wellness mentally, physically, emotionally.

53:26.38 – 53:55.40

And I think that this is where community comes in. also and finding like-minded people who understand where you're coming from. There are so many people who are transitioning out of organized religion into more of a liberated sense of spirituality. And they are looking for community as well. I feel like the lack of connection, the isolation, we're not meant to be isolated people, but the isolation impacts our health long-term overall.

2Speaker 2
53:56.76 – 54:18.56

Okay. And to wrap it up, I want your opinion on what are some misconceptions about what that people have with working with crystals or creating an altar, or more. so, how do you address them? You mentioned about? there's no true wrong way to do it.

54:19.30 – 54:22.70

What is a starting point in your opinion?

1Speaker 1
54:24.80 – 55:02.70

A misconception that I find that I face personally a lot, and just that I think people involved in the work face, they are oftentimes confused for being witches or doing witchcraft just because we're using elements of the earth. And while there's nothing wrong, again, I'm not here to judge anyone's practices. I don't find anything wrong with witchcraft. If that is your chosen lane of practice and connection to source and self, by all means, but being a user of crystals does not make you a witch. There are so many more practices.

55:03.00 – 55:13.68

There's so much more intention that goes into being a witch that is not present in doing this type of work, using these types of tools. What was the second part of your question?

2Speaker 2
55:14.20 – 55:16.48

How do you address them? You already answered it.

55:18.84 – 55:20.22

Absolutely adore that.

55:22.04 – 56:04.78

I'll leave you this, listeners. My final thoughts are addressing oneself from a mind, body, spirit perspective, mind, body, spirit, a spiritual practice, your connection to source, your connection to what you draw strength from, in my opinion, can have lasting effects on the body simply because you feel less alone. And when you mentioned community, that really stood out to me, because my clients that do have a sense of community and a support system, they do tend to recover sooner rather than those that feel like they're going through it alone. And maybe they haven't also established that connection to source. So that's absolutely beautiful.

56:04.78 – 56:19.62

So again, my final thoughts are this. No one is coming to save you. You must do the work. However, showing up and understanding that there are various entry points to healing and spirituality might just be that ticket for you. So, Jasmine, thank you so much for joining me.

56:19.92 – 56:30.44

And I'll most likely have you on again. I'd love to talk more about the more specifics and altars and the different types of altars and things of that nature, if you'll have me.

1Speaker 1
56:31.26 – 56:32.38

I would love to.

2Speaker 2
56:32.92 – 56:34.52

Thank you. Thank you. Lovely.
