00:03:07.74 – 00:03:16.38

Welcome to part of my take. Today is Wednesday, April 5th, and the Connecticut Huskies are.

4Speaker 4
00:03:16.38 – 00:03:25.88

Officially, basketball royalty Dan Hurley has painted his masterpiece. Uconn is officially a blue blood now, right? Officially, they have hemophilia.

00:03:26.16 – 00:03:33.98

Welcome to the Blue Blood Club. That means that your ancestors were doing some incest, yes, dabbling in some sisterhood, and your uncle might be a pedophile.

00:03:34.12 – 00:03:42.74

Well, that's okay in this circumstance, because you're basketball royalty, you've made it, you've joined all the other blue teams that are blue bloods. Yes, so I think they.

2Speaker 2
00:03:42.74 – 00:03:52.32

Kick Villanova out right, and then they move, Villanova's out, Villanova's out. UConn has won their fifth title in the last 24 years.

00:03:52.84 – 00:04:13.78

UConn is also the only second team all time to win titles in four consecutive decades. So they won in 99, they won 2004, they won 2011, 2014, and now they've won 2023, so that's four consecutive decades.

00:04:13.88 – 00:04:25.82

The only other team to do that, North Carolina, so they are basketball royalty. I don't know, I know we have the debate about blue bloods. All this stuff, five in 24 years is insane.

00:04:26.00 – 00:04:27.02

And they've done it with three.

4Speaker 4
00:04:27.02 – 00:04:30.88

Different head coaches, Three different head coaches shout out, Kevin, Kevin, Ollie laid the.

2Speaker 2
00:04:30.88 – 00:04:39.32

Foundation to build up Uconn basketball Kevin Ollie is Fredo? Yep, it's, it's, it's. Uh, I guess Jim Calhoun would be Sunny.

00:04:39.36 – 00:04:42.64

And then Dan Hurley would be Mike Michael Corleone, which is perfect.

4Speaker 4
00:04:42.64 – 00:04:53.88

Banners fly forever, though. Yeah, and I. Before we we dive further into this championship game. Um, I just like to say, thank you for being my friend. Yes, Jim Nance, with a sign off at the end.

00:04:54.18 – 00:05:02.86

Goodbye, thank you for being my friend. He, he, he claims that it was not a play on the Hello, friends. He just thinks everybody's his friend. That's just how he addresses people.

2Speaker 2
00:05:02.92 – 00:05:33.68

I'll say it, I'm his friend and I enjoyed him. Uh, on the podium after, Uh, the. I wasn't the commissioner of the NCAA or someone from the NCAA who is? He was getting a little too close to Jim. Uh, you know, it was. It was a little weird. Whenever that guy, whoever presents the trophy is always like, it's a weird position to be in. Because, like, no one's there to see you, dude. And, uh, then Jim Nance tried to make Dan Hurley cry, which he probably was grabbing his butt when he did that. But it was, it was a hell of a tournament run.

00:05:33.72 – 00:05:59.00

Like, we could talk about the tournament a minute, but Yukon, what? They did, they beat every single team by double digits. They, uh, were trailing in just 13 of their games total, so six games. They were trailing for 31 minutes of game time 13, and they were only trailing for 55 seconds of a second half. Crazy.

00:05:59.06 – 00:06:24.14

It's insane, they absolutely wasted everyone. Their, uh, total average that they beat teams by was 20 points per game uh, and it was the fourth largest average win margin since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985. And Dan Hurley? What he said couldn't have been more true. When he's like, once we got out of the Big East Play, you know, we're a different team.

00:06:24.24 – 00:06:30.12

They ended up on the season 17 and, Oh, against non-conference opponents, and they beat all of.

4Speaker 4
00:06:30.12 – 00:06:34.80

Those non-conference opponents by 10 plus points, except San Diego State, kind of a big East opponent.

2Speaker 2
00:06:34.96 – 00:06:54.10

But we're not, we're not counting that, but that that that run like. I know people will talk about this tournament not living up to the hype, which I totally disagree with. Yukon was the story and their dominance and what they did. And Dan Hurley has arrived officially as a coach of the national title.

00:06:54.28 – 00:07:06.64

He feels like he's the next era, which I love because I Dan Hurley is like a throwback to the next year. He's got that scowl, he's got that anger. He was zen like tonight, cause his team is that good.

00:07:06.74 – 00:07:13.72

He drinks piss, he drinks piss, he drinks urine, he is the you know what pft the NCAA basketball.

00:07:14.22 – 00:07:15.42

It's in good hands with Dan Hurley.

4Speaker 4
00:07:15.64 – 00:07:19.10

It really is, I think, that we can say maybe the Hurleys are the first family of basketball.

2Speaker 2
00:07:19.26 – 00:07:22.36

Yeah, I would say so, first family of part of my take right now.

4Speaker 4
00:07:22.40 – 00:07:32.66

The ball family maybe first family, but yeah, first family, part of my take, for sure. Right now. What a run. Shout out to Jake for getting an exclusive with coach Dan Hurley right after the game.

00:07:33.12 – 00:07:49.52

Dan Hurley definitely remembered the name of the podcast. Part of my take did not require any nudging whatsoever from Jake. He did it, but yeah, great, great story for him, I'm I'm happy for him because he is. You could definitely make the case like, okay, going into this tournament, saying like, nobody believed in Yukon.

00:07:49.68 – 00:07:55.36

I think a lot of people believed in Yukon, but a lot of people never believed that Danny Hurley would ever reach this level.

2Speaker 2
00:07:55.36 – 00:08:04.84

And I mean, yeah, a lot of people believe in Yukon. They were a four seed, they were not the team that everyone was looking towards. Everyone thought, you know, it was going to be Alabama or Kansas back to back.

00:08:04.90 – 00:08:32.04

They were like, when the tourney started, there were people who picked them, but they definitely weren't the team that everyone was looking at. Being like, this team is as dominant as they come, but when you look at their season. They were that team in November and December, they had a little blip in January, and then February, March, April, they were that team again. They were a very worthy national champion, that that dominated, dominated, dominated tournament play.

4Speaker 4
00:08:32.28 – 00:08:38.84

So another little fun stat here, this one's from recurring guest John Rothstein. Okay, Dan Hurley, the carpenter, Oh, no.

00:08:38.90 – 00:08:47.40

And here's the real stat. Yukon is the first team in the history of the NCAA tournament to win six games by at least 13 points. Wow, just dominating.

2Speaker 2
00:08:47.40 – 00:08:51.86

Everybody so better than the 2018 Villanova team. Well, now it's time to ask the question.

4Speaker 4
00:08:51.86 – 00:09:00.82

Is this the greatest college basketball team of all time? I think we should probably ask that, What do you think, Max? I think I think they're definitely in the conversation, Max, do you agree?

2Speaker 2
00:09:01.40 – 00:09:07.40

I think they have to face someone better than a three seed. You play who you play, you play who you play. Yeah, well, I mean, you play who you play.

00:09:07.58 – 00:09:09.10

They didn't play anybody the whole tournament.

4Speaker 4
00:09:09.18 – 00:09:13.30

They didn't play the Alabama. Yeah, they did, they played, yes, they did. yes, they did.

00:09:13.32 – 00:09:13.42

They.

2Speaker 2
00:09:13.42 – 00:09:21.54

Played who they played, Yeah, well, Nova beat real teams. Okay, uh, and then also we should shout out a Sunogo who was outstanding.

00:09:21.74 – 00:09:41.06

He wins most outstanding player, I don't know why they don't call it just most valuable player. But, uh, his tournament run was insane. He just dominated even tonight, like there was a couple of times where he was on the bench. San Diego State sort of didn't go away, even though, in retrospect, like, you know, they cut it to five with, Uh, I don't know.

00:09:41.10 – 00:10:05.90

I was like, maybe six minutes left. But every time they needed a big bucket, it was either Jordan Hawkins or Sunogo coming through with that big moment, big rebound. Uh, he was just an absolute force, and Yukon's defense, which I talked about, um, on Sunday show, Monday show, uh, was just insane. Like every time their opponents got in the paint, they just had an answer for him and nothing was easy and you could see it.

00:10:05.94 – 00:10:22.92

I know San Diego State wasn't the best offensive team, but it was. They were just getting absolutely stonewalled at every spot and they were guarding a three point line across half court. Like, just their defense got slept on because it was that dominant. In this run, there was one play in particular.

00:10:23.04 – 00:10:23.20

I think.

4Speaker 4
00:10:23.20 – 00:10:40.88

It was meant so on San Diego State. One of their bigs tried to back down Sunogo and try to throw some bows at him through a hip and a shoulder into him. And it looked it looked like a Volkswagen beetle, just driving into a brick wall. He just like, bounced off it and at that point, you, you know, that's too much, man, you're going up against him.

00:10:40.94 – 00:10:42.16

Do you know what it reminded me of?

2Speaker 2
00:10:42.16 – 00:11:09.92

I got to try to find it real quick. Um, the old Uh member Brian Wind Horse tweet about LeBron in Uh in 2017. Every time someone has a play like that where it's like, just pure strength, it's stupid, it's. It's really like, my life is too much about sports, and just like sports memory flashbacks, I found it, so it was a wind horse in 2017, as far as LeBron, recovering and not being injured.

00:11:10.30 – 00:11:19.10

He has more equipment in his home than most colleges, and he is so strong. That's what I like, that's what I think of. I just think, like, when Sunogo did that, I just was in my head.

00:11:19.14 – 00:11:23.88

I was just thinking, a Brian Wind horse being like, and he is so strong throughout this tournament.

4Speaker 4
00:11:23.88 – 00:11:39.30

Is probably the only person, not LeBron James, who has actually gained weight during basketball games. Because he was playing it's Ramadan. He wasn't able to eat, maybe he ate before the game, I'm not sure what that was like, but for some games, he was not able to eat before halftime.

00:11:39.30 – 00:11:50.44

You know, what do you, what do you pound at halftime? If you're Sunogo and you can't eat in the first half? I think I think it's simple. Lemon, lime, gatorade and a strawberry on crustable.

2Speaker 2
00:11:50.58 – 00:11:55.34

Maybe a banana, maybe banana, one banana, strawberry and crustable, maybe like a handful.

4Speaker 4
00:11:55.34 – 00:11:59.80

Of almonds. Yeah, that feels like, get a little salt, yeah. And he was, he was so good tonight.

00:11:59.82 – 00:12:14.86

He's just, he's just a big meaty dude. He's strong, he, and he is so strong. He's so strong, and he is so strong. The only the only strategy that San Diego State had was step on their shoes, give them flat tires and make it annoying to try to play defense with.

2Speaker 2
00:12:14.96 – 00:12:29.02

With one sock and it worked a little bit. And I I know like this game wasn't the best. But I really do think that watching it, you're like, this is way more about Yukon just being so dominant defensively. Uh, I just. They were that good, they were that good.

00:12:29.14 – 00:12:42.32

Tristan Newton was great. They were just there. I mean, Joey Calcutta Terror, like that guy's got just springs on his legs, like he was just bouncing around a caravan. And shout out Andrew Hurley, who played in all six tournament games.

00:12:42.46 – 00:12:46.12

That's how good Yukon was that Andrew Hurley got in all six.

4Speaker 4
00:12:46.12 – 00:12:56.74

Tournament games, he's classy class. that's a class that was class, demonstrated so much class at the end of the game by not shooting. I think Dan Hurley actually told him you can see him, like, raise his hand up and be like, don't take that three.

00:12:56.84 – 00:12:57.72

Don't take the three, I know you.

2Speaker 2
00:12:57.72 – 00:13:20.10

I wanted to see, I kind of wanted to see a moment that we could just furiously debate online. Because, uh, I realized that after after Sunday, the LSU. Uh, Angel, what was her name? Angel Angel, Reese, Reese, uh, and Caitlin Clark issue? I was like, Well, let's just have this on every game where we can just debate this for 24 hours, it means nothing.

00:13:20.20 – 00:13:21.94

It's stupid, but why not just?

4Speaker 4
00:13:21.94 – 00:13:27.92

Someone Andrew Hurley Jacket three right in their face. Yeah, the um, the game, you're right, it wasn't the best game.

00:13:28.24 – 00:13:41.70

The conversation maybe we should have about Yukon, this is always a fun one. Instead of, are they the best, uh, men's college basketball team of all time? are they the greatest champion of all time? Because they're playing this tournament? I mean, it was just dominant.

00:13:41.84 – 00:13:45.00

It was dominant. I'd say that they are the greatest champion of all time. Uh, by the way.

2Speaker 2
00:13:45.00 – 00:13:48.04

We have breaking news, Jake is on the floor as we speak.

00:13:50.76 – 00:14:05.78

BOBBY Hurley So we had you on today, your brother on last week, Yukon undefeated since both of you have come on. I mean, how how do you feel? You had your mom, like you mentioned on the show, your dad at his moment, and you wanted your brother to have his moment?

00:14:06.10 – 00:14:07.62

Now he has it. How do you feel now?

3Speaker 3
00:14:07.96 – 00:14:16.04

I. He's worked so hard for this moment. uh, he's so deserving, he's so talented at what he does. I, you know, I had a I saw this day coming for him.

00:14:16.14 – 00:14:16.94

I had a chance to work.

2Speaker 2
00:14:17.00 – 00:14:22.78

All right, well, Jake's questions are just very um, I am. I am so disappointed. No, not.

4Speaker 4
00:14:22.78 – 00:14:28.34

Not because of of how, like normal, his questions are, because that's Jake, baby, yeah, that's Jake.

2Speaker 2
00:14:28.34 – 00:14:32.08

That's Jake, We'll love him or hate him, We love him, yes, but I'm disappointed.

4Speaker 4
00:14:32.70 – 00:14:36.62

That's the old time, that's wild, yeah, and he didn't say this is wild, yeah.

00:14:36.66 – 00:14:41.96

His brother was on the show, then, he was on the show then, his brother never lost a game, that's.

2Speaker 2
00:14:41.96 – 00:14:53.74

Fucking wild. It was only two games, but that is why it's wild. But yeah, Jake's doing a lot of like, talk about, yeah, we, we, we your head. Right now. Jake is doing a great job of getting every head. Ray Allen.

00:14:53.86 – 00:15:05.74

He had Dan Hurley. But here's my promise to the people. Uh, next year. PFT and I are going to try to get credential for this, cause it feels like everyone gets credential. So we're going to do our own interviews on the court. Tuxedos, yeah.

00:15:05.76 – 00:15:07.30

And let's just hope, St.

4Speaker 4
00:15:07.36 – 00:15:11.68

John's is in the final four. Yes, holy shit, I love, I love coach, I love coach.

00:15:11.78 – 00:15:12.02

You know?

2Speaker 2
00:15:12.04 – 00:15:28.76

Class quick up update, by the way, cause we never shared it. We might as well. Uh, I've, I've said this before, but I have a stalker who texts me every now and then, anytime we make a Rick Pitino joke. Um, he popped back up this past week when Rick Pitino went to St. John's and was threatening PFT this time.

00:15:29.12 – 00:15:42.66

Uh, and then he said that he was in Houston and gave us a meetup time. Uh, didn't show. He said he was with Rick Pitino. Obviously we're getting fucked with, but it's good. It's good to wake up and be like, Yeah, my stock are still coming after me.

4Speaker 4
00:15:42.66 – 00:15:47.08

Yeah, and and we're listening, we're ready. Rick, we like Rick, I like Rick Pitino.

00:15:47.26 – 00:15:47.46

We want.

2Speaker 2
00:15:47.46 – 00:15:51.80

Him on the show, he's a fantastic coach. We rooting for St. John's. Um, all right.

00:15:51.80 – 00:15:57.22

So Jake is on the floor getting all these interviews. great job by Jake, we should say that, like.

4Speaker 4
00:15:57.48 – 00:16:07.94

Obviously the game not that entertaining, it was the story of fouls in the second half. Yes, Yukon got into the bonus super early, so they had a bunch of 90 foot fouls where they get fouled underneath their own basket.

00:16:08.12 – 00:16:21.18

And then everybody walks calmly to the end of the court and then they make both both free throws. And you can't come back from that if you're San Diego State. I was talking to Titus about it as it was happening. Like, well, the rest of this game, the last 10 minutes are just going to be nothing but free throws.

00:16:21.64 – 00:16:36.00

And, uh, he made the point that that was probably San Diego State. Strategy was to foul, like, be very physical with Yukon. And just hope that. The refs don't call it every time. Yeah, the refs called it every time, and it was. I don't think it was a poorly officiated game.

00:16:36.06 – 00:16:43.44

It was overly officiated. Maybe you could say the second half felt like that, but but the fouls, I think, were legit fouls for the most part.

2Speaker 2
00:16:43.48 – 00:16:57.40

Yes, yes, and it, you know? So let's talk about the full tournament because I do think, um, there's been this weird narrative that this tournament sucked. I think it's a lot of people who didn't watch the tournament, uh, who just don't like college basketball, which is fine.

4Speaker 4
00:16:57.46 – 00:17:00.24

You know, respect to those people that didn't watch it and they're like, this sucks, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:17:00.24 – 00:17:03.76

Right, and there are some media members who literally just didn't watch it and they're like.

4Speaker 4
00:17:04.04 – 00:17:08.26

There's no good storylines. That's how a lot of people are with the live tour, which is golf.

2Speaker 2
00:17:08.26 – 00:17:25.86

But louder. But nobody watches it, nobody watches it. I I think this was so the final four I think we got. Obviously last year we got spoiled with the Duke UNC in Kansas and Villanova. Uh, although in retrospect, only three blue bloods, we thought at the time, but we were young and foolish.

00:17:26.00 – 00:17:35.98

Max, you want to say anything? Max is just shaking his head. Nah, I don't have anything to say other than fuck off. Okay, Max has had a long day when the hair's down.

00:17:36.12 – 00:17:54.60

Max has been drunk and sober like four times today. No, I was just drunk and then sober just one time. I'm so sunburned right now. Oh, I thought, Oh, oh. That's interesting, because when I saw Max in the pool and he looked, he was drinking like a red and white. Uh, what was it?

00:17:54.66 – 00:18:00.78

It was Miami, but it was my advice. I was like, Max, you look like your drink right now, you're so sunburned. He goes, I'm fucking Italian.

4Speaker 4
00:18:00.78 – 00:18:08.02

I don't. Sunburn Yeah, I didn't say that. Uh, what to be fair, what to be fair?

00:18:08.06 – 00:18:08.34

I mean.

2Speaker 2
00:18:08.38 – 00:18:13.86

We this was a long trip, we worked hard today. I wasn't saying anything about that, I was saying.

4Speaker 4
00:18:13.86 – 00:18:17.36

That you didn't take a bath, but you did a good job, You told me that you weren't. You don't get.

2Speaker 2
00:18:17.36 – 00:18:22.90

Sunburned And now you're saying, I'm so fucking sunburned? Yeah, yeah. I mean, everyone needs a base on burn for the summer.

00:18:23.00 – 00:18:25.44

It's true, a little early out on the golf course today.

4Speaker 4
00:18:25.64 – 00:18:37.62

Max and Memes were just looking at each other and they were both a little drunk from the day. And Memes was like, Am I really red? Yeah, and Memes is really red. And Max looked at him and Max was like, super bright red. He was like, No dude, you're not that red.

00:18:38.08 – 00:18:43.18

And he was like, Yeah, you're not that ready either. No, you guys are both just normal, normal guys, yeah, and we.

2Speaker 2
00:18:43.18 – 00:18:59.98

Are people are probably like, What the hell are they talking about? We are recording right after the game. So it's Monday night because we have a full travel day where we're in Louisiana, so we have to drive two hours and then fly back to New York. Um, so if anything crazy happens on Tuesday in the sports world, we will update it Tuesday night.

00:19:00.10 – 00:19:21.74

Otherwise, you're just listening to the raw dog right after the game reactions. So the the tournament, I think we had it all. I know that there wasn't the the uh, one seeds in the final four, all that. But we had an all time upset. With Fairly Dickinson. Princeton just gets, like, completely erased from history because of Fairly Dickinson.

00:19:21.74 – 00:19:43.08

They went to the Sweet 16 as a 15 seed. You had an all time tournament personal run by Marquise Noel, which was like, If you didn't watch the tournament, Marquise Noel dominated the second weekend. His performances at Madison Square Garden were out of this world, like appointment television, you had five, eight confirmed by the way, five, eight got to interview.

4Speaker 4
00:19:43.08 – 00:19:48.62

Him on barstool live, him and I exact same size, five, eight you had, you had, I mean, Furman.

2Speaker 2
00:19:48.62 – 00:20:14.42

Uh, winning against Virginia, there's a bunch of upsets, whatever. And then you had a final four, two insane, three insane runs of schools that had never been to the final four in Miami, FDU. Or, sorry, FAU and San Diego State. And then you had Yukon, the dominant team that steamrolled the entire tournament, to kind of put a cherry on top with some incredible players and incredible coach. I don't know.

00:20:14.52 – 00:20:18.70

I like this tournament delivered, it always delivers. It's the fucking March.

4Speaker 4
00:20:18.70 – 00:20:28.30

BANISteR I love this tournament. So we had the first buzzer, Beater coming from behind in the final four to win a game in San Diego State. FAU. There was a lot of stuff, I mean, there were tons of upsets.

00:20:28.48 – 00:20:38.96

People say that they like upsets, they like underdogs. well, guess what, go out back and smoke an entire pack of underdogs. Because this delivered in spades, it didn't have the brand names, which some people don't like.

00:20:38.98 – 00:20:58.28

You always hear people say like, Oh, I like the underdogs, I like it when they win early opening rounds. But then after that you want the big name schools. That's fun sometimes, but this was. It was very cool to see all these schools that never thought that they'd have a chance to win. A single game advanced throughout the tournament and a lot of them make it very, very far. It's like unprecedented level.

00:20:58.38 – 00:21:00.42

So I liked it, I enjoyed.

2Speaker 2
00:21:00.42 – 00:21:26.08

The tournament and at the end of the day, you got the champion that was most deserving. Like Yukon 17 and, oh, a non-conference 10 plus points. Every single opponent, they were phenomenal. Like, that's the thing is. I understand that the thought process of the underdogs getting really deep into the tournament ruins it later. But that's also part of like, you don't want to have a weird outcome where it feels like the best team, the best team one.

00:21:26.08 – 00:21:39.02

Yukon was the best team this year, they deserve the title. I, I'm giving this tournament, maybe it wasn't a plus, but I actually don't think any tournament could be less than an ace. So I'm giving it an A, I'm giving it five balls.

00:21:39.10 – 00:21:57.10

Okay, there we go. So, like, again, it's just some people and it's fine. Some people like to talk about NBA all year, or they want to talk about I don't know what, what other sports are. Or ML MLB just started. Yeah, sure, March is for the Assembly tournament, and it always delivers.

4Speaker 4
00:21:57.38 – 00:22:04.16

Yeah, well, I mean, you just said March. My only gripe is that March should have 35 days. The NCAA tournament should end in March. It's tough.

00:22:04.26 – 00:22:06.08

Cause I consider, I consider this an all.

2Speaker 2
00:22:06.08 – 00:22:17.84

Time March moment for Yukon. Although I liked it, it finishes. It finished in April, because I can be like, well, March was a pretty bad gambling month, but April fucking, we're off.

00:22:18.76 – 00:22:19.58

We're on a live.

4Speaker 4
00:22:19.58 – 00:22:30.00

Separate I don't. I don't think that there's ever been a live stream in the history of this company where everybody won their best. It does feel good to win one, and I know I know those sickos and.

2Speaker 2
00:22:30.00 – 00:22:42.60

Perverts already got a five point game with six minutes left. They're like, this is going to be an all time loss for Yukon. And Big Cat's going to cry on a stream. And I would have cried, I would have cried, but you didn't get it, not this time.

00:22:42.78 – 00:22:49.14

Not this time, you know why? Cause then have that loser Max attached to me, and that's how you take one across the finish line.

00:22:49.26 – 00:22:49.86

So I do have a.

4Speaker 4
00:22:49.98 – 00:22:54.48

My hot seat is Max. I'll just jump ahead. Well, yeah, let me do the ad and we'll get into hot.

4Speaker 4
00:24:15.82 – 00:24:33.86

Law to start a claim. PFT. Hot sequel My hot seat is Max. Oh, Max is on the hot seat. Uh, not just for all the reasons that we've said above, where how Villanova has been removed from the Blue Bloods and Yukon is in, but also because Max bet against Yukon every single game of this tournament.

00:24:34.00 – 00:24:41.64

You did? Yeah, he, yes, he bet. San Diego State Money Line and San Diego State against the spread. No man.

00:24:41.72 – 00:24:52.80

Yeah, Dan Hurley, best coach in the Big East. Uh, Max, you just, I mean, I'm not going to argue, Kyle neptune, is you just? You just got no hit? Yeah, I had no.

2Speaker 2
00:24:53.04 – 00:24:58.12

I had no hits on Yukon. Yeah, that's no hitter, that's no hitter, I guess.

00:25:00.82 – 00:25:19.62

Dude, that's any point where you like Yukon might actually be good. No, I knew the entire time that Yukon was good, but it against it was against my. But see, what shouldn't you have been like, Hey, they're really good, might as well win money. The whole, the whole moral hedge thing is a bunch of bullshit.

00:25:19.78 – 00:25:43.00

Like, no, but when they're that good, I know, honestly, I told you this, I told you this earlier that I. If I didn't pick UCLA, I would have picked Yukon because everyone was sending me those stats of like, only these five teams can make it and they you can have the best odds, but I couldn't get myself to pull for Yukon, that was the number one.

4Speaker 4
00:25:43.94 – 00:25:50.02

You could have won like 20 grands. I respect that, though I that Max is a real fit, Max is a good sports style, yeah.

00:25:50.30 – 00:25:59.18

Good job, Max. Also another good sports cool throne, uh, stores Connecticut, yeah, uh, student athletes, uh, win a national championship game.

00:25:59.26 – 00:26:09.66

And then the entire town just starts picking up light poles and smashing in door and flipping cars. yeah, flipping cars. What a great way to celebrate a victory. Uh, gotta be the coolest thing to win a title when.

2Speaker 2
00:26:09.66 – 00:26:15.46

You're a student at a, at a school, in college. Yeah, yeah, I can, I can attest, I can attest that to non commuters.

00:26:16.02 – 00:26:19.28

I still was on campus for the game, I didn't have any friends on campus.

4Speaker 4
00:26:19.28 – 00:26:23.52

But I was there. JMU Division One, Double A, National Championships, 2004. There you go.

2Speaker 2
00:26:23.64 – 00:26:30.58

You can forget, Uh, my Wisconsin, they won 2006. Frozen for Huge. That's so sick for you.

4Speaker 4
00:26:32.18 – 00:26:54.22

My cool throne, My cool throne is Doge coin. Oh yeah, Doge coin spike today. Uh, because Elon put the Doge dog on the home screen of Twitter whenever you loaded it up last night. Uh, I responsibly ran out of money in my Barstool sports book account, and I'd been holding doge huddling.

00:26:54.34 – 00:27:03.08

Yeah, I've been huddling, I've had diamond hands, I was waiting to go to the moon patiently, and, uh, I've had it for like three years.

00:27:03.16 – 00:27:18.16

It increased in value, it dipped way back down, and then I was just huddling it. And I liquidated my Doge account last night, all your assets, all my assets in Doge. I liquidated so that I could put money into my account to bet on the tournament.

00:27:18.90 – 00:27:30.62

And then, seven hours later, Elon changes the fucking home screen of Twitter to Doge the Doge dog. And then the stock shoots up a hundred percent.

2Speaker 2
00:27:30.88 – 00:27:36.60

That's fucking horseshit. You got you got your your doge coin, got doink bet I did. It was a.

4Speaker 4
00:27:36.60 – 00:27:40.48

Doink all over again, I got double Doink. I couldn't believe it when I went on Twitter.

2Speaker 2
00:27:40.48 – 00:27:50.50

This morning I was like, What is this? And then I realized what it was? And then I saw all the people being like, Doge is ripping and I was like, Oh, no, PFT sold, it was on the moon.

00:27:50.80 – 00:27:51.20

Although.

4Speaker 4
00:27:51.20 – 00:28:04.56

Spin zone I made more money betting on this game than I would have. I've more than doubled my money. You need that cause I hit everything tonight. So in your face, Elon, I'm not paying for that blue check.

00:28:04.80 – 00:28:17.84

Yeah, unless, well, we might, maybe. well, we we. Now that Jake's not in the room, we might. If you can hide my likes on certain tweets, I'll pay for that. You need a horny tab? Yeah, yeah, exactly.

00:28:17.88 – 00:28:23.14

I'll do it then, um, but yeah, Hank needs remember Hank, nah.

2Speaker 2
00:28:23.40 – 00:28:30.22

No, no, no tape lottery ball, which we shouldn't have, because, uh, he's not on this episode, he's.

4Speaker 4
00:28:30.22 – 00:28:34.94

On vacation, we have certain, we have certain conversations offline on this podcast that stay.

2Speaker 2
00:28:34.94 – 00:28:41.58

Offline? Yeah, right, exactly. But we did tape the lottery ball, so that will will still happen with Hank at the end.

00:28:41.64 – 00:28:50.86

Uh, okay, my hot seat. I have two, number one, uh, Joe Biden, so Joe Biden say, Jill or Jill, Jill Biden, Dr.

00:28:50.92 – 00:29:00.44

Jill, Dr. Jill. Biden invited LSU and Iowa to the White House. That's fucking bullshit, you can't do that, that's fucked up.

00:29:00.54 – 00:29:07.40

You cannot do that. That's how I will lost they lost is it. Has this ever happened? Classless move.

00:29:07.42 – 00:29:12.46

It's playing both sides, it's classless, it is classless, it's classless move. You can't do that.

00:29:12.58 – 00:29:18.66

If I were, if I were LSU, I'd be like, Fuck you, I'm not coming now. No, then, cause then actually, I would probably show up.

00:29:18.78 – 00:29:38.74

But either way, learn how fucking sports work. I feel like this entire LSU Iowa game just had to it. Like, shook everyone, where everyone forgot how sports work for a minute. Where they're talking about classy, classless. You can't shit talk. yes, you can you shit talk, you run up the score, you point to your finger.

00:29:38.74 – 00:29:45.24

When you win a ring, you do the John Cena. And then you get invited to the White House, and the team that lost doesn't get invited to the White.

4Speaker 4
00:29:45.24 – 00:29:49.96

House, that's how sports work. I agree with that, I a million percent it doesn't happen in other.

2Speaker 2
00:29:49.96 – 00:29:56.00

Sports, nor should it happen in other sports. Bullshit, you know what it is, Jill? Dr. Joe Biden.

00:29:56.56 – 00:30:01.92

You're not treating them as equals as men you're, cause I don't see them, I don't.

4Speaker 4
00:30:02.08 – 00:30:06.08

I don't think San Diego State's getting an invite. You're almost just protecting them, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:30:06.72 – 00:30:10.68

Bullshit, bullshit. I don't know what I'm going to, I'm going to have to explain this all to my.

4Speaker 4
00:30:10.68 – 00:30:22.28

Daughter, it's going to be terrible. Would you? Would you ever go to the White House? After losing something? I think Max would just live in Washington, my other hot seat.

00:30:22.76 – 00:30:24.38

Uh, my other.

2Speaker 2
00:30:24.38 – 00:30:41.76

Hot seat is, uh, anyone who owns Dalmatians, because Vince McMahon looks like he's about to steal a hundred Dalmatians. He unveiled his new look today. He made, I think he made like $5 billion, so wwe got sold to, uh, endeavor, which are.

00:30:41.76 – 00:30:57.64

Emmanuel They already own UFC. Vince McMahon sold 51. He's still going to be part of the WWE, still gonna like, make moves, he's still going to be the boss. But he made, I think it was like somewhere like four or $5 billion.

00:30:58.06 – 00:31:12.90

Personally, the company was rumored to sell for $9 billion. Right? So he made so much money today. He bought the WWE from his father for a million dollars in, like, 1982, so pretty good return on investment. But he went and did the rounds on all the shows.

00:31:13.04 – 00:31:21.90

And he has this pencil thin mustache above his lip that makes him look like like Vince. McMahon already is the evil boss. He just took it.

4Speaker 4
00:31:21.90 – 00:31:40.76

To a different level, I mean, the man is a showman. And if you're going to be accused of being a pervert left and right. And all these people come out and say all these weird things about you and how you're a creepy old dude. Of course, Vince McMahon is going to lean into that costume and grow a tiny little mustache. Yes, that's like, that's day one playbook stuff for him in WWE.

00:31:41.14 – 00:31:48.86

So he's, he's fucking rich now, huh? uh, very, very rich. What is Vince McMahon? I don't think money really matters to Vince.

00:31:48.90 – 00:31:55.90

He's just going to use that money to just make more wrestling. Yeah, it's all, it's all going back. He's probably they're keeping him around, right?

00:31:55.98 – 00:31:56.34

Yeah, no.

2Speaker 2
00:31:56.34 – 00:32:12.50

He's going to be, I think, his official title. Let me find this. Um, I was reading this article a minute ago. I think his official title is still like, Director of WWE, or so, oh, executive chairman. well, so he's going to, he's going to be still be the executive chairman.

00:32:12.58 – 00:32:13.36

You know that old saying?

4Speaker 4
00:32:13.38 – 00:32:29.08

Like, if you have money, you just become more of what you were before. Like, if you gave me $9 billion, I would just buy a shitload of soup. If you give a creepy old man $9 billion, he's going to become a super creepy old man with a child molester mustache. Yes, uh, the pencil thin.

2Speaker 2
00:32:29.08 – 00:32:36.38

Mustache It was quite a look, quite a look. Also. Shout out Shane Omak Uh, I think he tours ACL, yeah.

00:32:36.52 – 00:32:44.42

He's battled through it all the time. Yeah, I don't know where, wherever Joey Abs or, uh, yeah, Joey Abs and Pete Gas are right now.

00:32:44.48 – 00:32:57.86

I wish they had come out and saved them. But yeah, he was in wrestlemania, he, he, he was doing his thing. And, uh, Tours. ACL tried to stand up, flop back down, Snoop Dog had to save him, but yeah, that was.

4Speaker 4
00:32:57.96 – 00:33:03.56

You know, win some loose. That's such a classic WWE recap. Snoop Dog came out. Oh, yeah, of course.

2Speaker 2
00:33:03.68 – 00:33:12.28

Of course he did. It's got. It's kind of suck, cause Shane Omak probably made a shitload of money today too, but he's, he's, like, got crutches. I would kind of love that.

00:33:12.38 – 00:33:13.06

I wouldn't want to win.

4Speaker 4
00:33:13.58 – 00:33:23.22

Like that, uh, that's like the ultimate bonus. It's like, not only are we giving you a couple hundred million dollars, but also a doctor's orders. You're not allowed to exercise for six.

2Speaker 2
00:33:23.22 – 00:33:32.86

Months. I always feel so bad, it's like when you win like a title and a guy gets injured in the game, it's all. I always feel so bad. That they can't party like fully, so they got like a boot.

4Speaker 4
00:33:32.86 – 00:33:42.10

On, or they got like their arm in a sling. Yeah, but if somebody told me, Uh, congratulations, a hundred million dollars, don't try to work out. And also here's a couple of vicodin.

00:33:42.32 – 00:33:42.58

Yeah, true.

2Speaker 2
00:33:42.74 – 00:33:46.84

But like Odell Beckham, like that, had to suck, you know, he wanted to go crazy when the Rams won.

4Speaker 4
00:33:46.92 – 00:33:56.30

Oh, I'm sure that that didn't completely stop Odell Beckham. He wants $15 million in real money, or like he handed out fake money that he handed out to LSU, he wants $15 million.

2Speaker 2
00:33:56.66 – 00:34:14.80

That's the word on the street, so do I? My cool throne is, uh, the Detroit Tigers. They are the last team to get their first win of the M.L.B. season, so they beat the Astros tonight and congratulate the last team to get their first win. Every other team has a win.

00:34:15.26 – 00:34:24.08

So congrats to the Tigers. Have your bias. This is bullshit. What? Phillies do not have a win yet. What?

00:34:24.24 – 00:34:32.06

You got no, you got no wind. No, dude, I don't know how this ended up being a podcast. I mean, dude, are you serious?

00:34:32.50 – 00:34:35.42

I didn't know that I w You want to cut this part?

00:34:38.62 – 00:34:43.68

Yeah, wait, the Phillies don't have any wins, it's four games into the season, who cares?

4Speaker 4
00:34:43.78 – 00:34:49.10

But every other team has a win. Who cares? Yeah, but you got Hoskins coming back, yeah.

00:34:49.10 – 00:34:49.56

Yeah, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:34:49.56 – 00:35:06.80

You already did this, you already did this bit one I was, I was. I was watching. The Tigers were they had an extra inning game against the Astros, and since we're in Louisiana, the Astros are technically the home team. So, uh, I was watching out of the corner of my eye during the national title, being like, I hope the Tigers win.

00:35:06.86 – 00:35:08.96

So I could do exactly this on the.

4Speaker 4
00:35:08.96 – 00:35:15.58

Podcast I'd like to give another shout out just specifically to Louisiana. Yeah, best place in the.

2Speaker 2
00:35:15.58 – 00:35:20.66

World the best. I have one more thing to say fuck ESPN. The Phillies played on Sunday night baseball yesterday.

00:35:21.10 – 00:35:43.36

And for whatever reason, they made the most detailed graphic of all time. Just being like, Hey, by the way, do you know that Philly has just come in second? And every single thing this year? And I was like, watch Sunday Night Baseball, and then and I was like, watch Sunday Night Baseball tonight. What the fuck does the union losing the M.L.S have to do with Sunday Night baseball? Philly's Rangers? A lot is nothing.

00:35:43.66 – 00:35:52.84

It was just I, it was just so people could just fucking tweet at me the graphic and be like, Hey, hey Max, did you see this? you see this? Philly loses every championship, I know, I know they lose.

00:35:53.06 – 00:36:02.72

Okay, Sixers will definitely win Max. You should actually be thinking, Uh, that Hank exists because Hank's not here, so you're getting all of our jokes. I love that.

00:36:02.86 – 00:36:14.94

I love that for Hank. Phillies really don't have in No, the Phillies do not have a win. I don't. Wasn't opening day like it feels like 10 years ago, cause we've been on the road for a while.

00:36:15.14 – 00:36:16.80

I feel like we were in Austin 50.

00:36:17.00 – 00:36:22.60

Yeah, I mean, it's all of March, is just. I just miss my kids, I just want to go home, I miss my bed.

00:36:22.98 – 00:36:27.88

Oh yeah, yeah, that too. Yeah, just my dog. Coming home to your bed is so nice.

00:36:29.34 – 00:36:33.34

Yeah, we're going to get home, we're going to do it, bring the boys home, bring the boys home.

00:36:33.50 – 00:36:37.20

Let's do it. Sorry that the Phillies don't have one. I didn't know that before I said that.

00:36:42.92 – 00:37:05.28

Yeah, what a great turnaround, but the sports gods really do it correctly, with the tournament like the most intense month in the sports calendar. And then they're just like, here's a really nice, easy thing to watch for. The entire weekend you can sit on your couch. I'm a little worried about the weather, by the way. Nothing, nothing bums me out more than Masters being bad.

4Speaker 4
00:37:05.28 – 00:37:13.30

Weather well, so if it rains early in the week, that's good, right? but it's if it rains early in the week. That means that the course is ready to get fucked. There's a chance we might have a.

2Speaker 2
00:37:13.30 – 00:37:18.24

Monday Masters finish, which would would kind of rule. You remember when the U S Open had that?

4Speaker 4
00:37:18.24 – 00:37:38.42

Monday finish a while back, Yeah, Rocco Mediate. Tiger Woods 18 hole playoff An extra round of just Tiger Woods. Nobody got any work done. Oh, by the way, all the freaks out there online, all the economy watchers that keep reminding people of how much money is stolen. Via time theft of people at work, not paying attention to work and watching sports on TV.

00:37:38.62 – 00:37:43.88

Go fuck yourself also, yeah, go push yourself, because we it's labor month we get a month to.

2Speaker 2
00:37:43.88 – 00:37:52.80

Steal all that time back. Yeah, don't you realize that America does it the right way? We're not like one of these fancy European countries. It takes all the summer off.

00:37:52.94 – 00:38:06.38

We work every single day, 365 days a year, uh, morning, noon and night, and then when we go to work, we take no vacations, and when we go to work, we just don't work. Yeah, it's a perfect system.

00:38:06.66 – 00:38:13.78

Unless you're Hank Lockwood, Yeah, but that is very European. Listen, this is America. Baby vacations are frowned upon.

00:38:14.00 – 00:38:27.48

You do, you know when you? When I take my vacation every fucking day, when I go to work and I fuck off, that's what you do. Hey, you I. Someone listening to this right now is nodding their head. They're like, I'm at work right now, maybe they're watching on the YouTube.

00:38:27.50 – 00:38:27.86

They're.

4Speaker 4
00:38:27.86 – 00:38:31.90

Like, guess what I'm doing not working? master the art of getting paid to not work, right?

2Speaker 2
00:38:31.90 – 00:38:48.06

Exactly, I think I said it, what, what a couple of weeks ago, where I was like. The worst thing you could have your boss ever figure out is that you could do all of your work in like four hours. Cause you could, but never tell your boss that. And also don't do that, just do little bits and pieces of work.

00:38:48.34 – 00:38:52.04

Like a squirrel hiding nuts before the winter, if.

4Speaker 4
00:38:52.04 – 00:39:00.84

There's somebody that does six hours of work while at work. You're working way too hard. Chill out, chill out, you're making all of us look overachiever. All right, Master's weather.

2Speaker 2
00:39:00.84 – 00:39:16.92

Real quick before we get to our preview. 74 chance of rain on Friday, 91 chance of rain on Saturday, 74 chance of rain on Sunday. Play the Masters in a dome. This is bad, this is really.

4Speaker 4
00:39:16.92 – 00:39:23.06

Bad, I don't, it just bums me out. The birds aren't going to be out. How is this going to?

2Speaker 2
00:39:23.06 – 00:39:32.42

Affect the azaleas. That's what I want to know, and we need to. Yeah, we need to just stop weather for a week. Um, all right, so we do have Master's preview Max Homa pump up with him.

00:39:32.48 – 00:39:58.76

And then we have Shane Bacon, uh, to break down the whole course and everything. In the end, give you some, maybe some long shots and guess what? We're brought to you by our friends at Top Call. Your favorite place in the world to go is Top Golf? We love going to Top Golf. Love getting getting your bay, getting your your drinks, your food, sitting there, having a great time, little competition with your friends at Top Golf. Maybe go on a date.

00:39:59.52 – 00:40:11.48

Top golf is the best place ever because you don't even have to golf. It doesn't matter, everyone can play top golf, even if no one can golf. Food and beverage, Great place, great meal.

00:40:11.92 – 00:40:25.96

Uh, go, like I said, for a date, maybe a Saturday afternoon. There's TVs, you can watch the Masters while you top golf. It is super comfortable there, they've got couches, they have heated bays in the winter, cool bays in the summer.

00:40:26.30 – 00:40:36.40

It's the best place in the world. You can't top top golf because it's got everything for you, so it's golf, it's not golf, it's top golf.

00:40:36.62 – 00:40:48.48

Download the app, Book a bay and come play around. We were at Top Golf a few weeks ago. It is seriously so much fun. Show up, get a bay. You have a couch, you have a TV, you play the games.

00:40:48.84 – 00:41:02.20

There's all types of different games you can play to keep it interesting with your friends. Uh, or maybe you just want to try to work on your on a couple of shots, but have a little bit better than the driving range? Top golf has it all, it's golf, it's not golf.

00:41:02.30 – 00:41:09.08

It's Top Golf. Download the app, book a bay and come play around with Top Golf. Thank you Top Golf, our wonderful sponsor.

00:41:09.14 – 00:41:14.60

We got to go to top golf again, we love top golf all right here. He is our good friend, Max Homa.

00:41:15.16 – 00:41:15.44

Okay.

00:41:18.36 – 00:41:37.36

It is Master's Week and we thought we'd have on one of our favorite guests, Max Homa, before Augusta. Um, this is not an interview. this is a uh, just guys pumping each other up session. We're just getting ready for Augusta. It's the biggest tournament of our lives.

00:41:37.42 – 00:41:51.90

And I say that, meaning all three of us here. Hank's not in the room, he doesn't like you, and neither is Max. He's. He's probably getting a, uh, I think he's at a doctor's appointment that probably won't go well for him. Um, so how are we feeling mentally, Max?

1Speaker 1
00:41:53.32 – 00:42:04.08

Good, do you think Max or Batgirls? Blood pressure is going to come back to us on the high side? Cause I would assume it's going to be an alarming. I would say that's probably a good bet, is there?

4Speaker 4
00:42:04.08 – 00:42:08.98

Any, uh, like professional golfer that is expected to win who's from the Philadelphia area, because.

1Speaker 1
00:42:08.98 – 00:42:26.90

We need to get like, on a philly guy, man. I can't think of, I know Harry Higgs, but I don't think he's in yet. Uh, I can't think anybody. So hopefully Max's heartbreak will, uh, slow down. Uh, that was a funny, that was a funny point.

00:42:26.94 – 00:42:41.20

I only saw the clip, or I only saw the meme where it just said, Max is going to suck. And I was like, Damn, that was mean. And then I listened to the first, like 20, 30 minutes, I'm like, Ah, this guy's, this guy's in it right now. He was rock.

4Speaker 4
00:42:41.20 – 00:42:50.44

Bottom. He said it out of rage at himself, really, like at himself loathing. He was really saying when he was, it was his way of telling himself that he sucked, but he was just projecting it.

1Speaker 1
00:42:50.44 – 00:42:54.86

Onto you, Yes, I was positive, he said. I fucking did it, I did it.

00:42:54.86 – 00:42:58.16

I'm still pretty sure that's.

2Speaker 2
00:42:58.16 – 00:43:13.06

What he said, I am, too, he's just he's just a ball of just sad energy that screams at everything. So all right, uh, we are taping this a week before it got to where you're going to say. Jake Rocco Immediate, who's known for being in second to Tigers, Pennsylvania.

00:43:13.18 – 00:43:18.12

Okay, all right. So Rocco is like the most famous second place. Yeah, go Rocco.

00:43:18.24 – 00:43:24.44

Yeah, Rocco, you can see him saying that. Um, yeah, that's definitely Max, all right.

00:43:24.46 – 00:43:37.20

So, uh, what, like, where? where's the mental lab? Cause, you know, we've, we've obviously had before the masters before. Uh. The famous time when I was like, Can you win this? and you were like, I think I think you can win this now.

00:43:37.20 – 00:43:41.00

Like, I am confident, I feel good, do you feel the same?

1Speaker 1
00:43:41.00 – 00:44:06.26

Way, or are we all on the same wavelength? Uh, yeah, we are on the same wavelength. I'd say, uh, obviously, this is, uh, the best standing I've had going into any major, uh, let alone just Augusta. Um, so I think you know, as much as sports are just about who's the best at what they do. Uh, golf, obviously, uh. You have to peak at the right time, and you have to, you know, your game has to show up at the right time.

00:44:06.88 – 00:44:26.70

Um, so I, I, I just say that going into it, that just seems like the only thing. I mean, I like what I've been doing, I like where my game feels, like where my head's at. But handling the pressure and doing all that will be different, having expectation will be a bit different. But I mean, I really do like my chances, I, I like the golf course.

00:44:26.96 – 00:44:49.44

Uh, I haven't had much success on it yet. But I just feel like I go in there and put a bunch of, uh, excessive pressure on myself just to to play well. Uh, I, I would be lying if I didn't say that. Last year, I was really prominently thinking about making the cut for the first time there. Uh, so this year the goals are set a lot higher. But um, everything's kind of lining up well and so I do feel good.

00:44:49.56 – 00:45:01.50

Um, I feel the best I probably could feel going into a, going into a major, so I got, I got that going for me. I know I have bad girls, a cold streak running, but at some point that has to turn around, even for even for that psycho.

4Speaker 4
00:45:01.64 – 00:45:03.84

No, it's good because he's rooting against you now.

00:45:05.64 – 00:45:24.56

He's the one person that you want cheering against you the hardest because he can't win anything. So you've made a very good enemy to have. Uh, you're dialed right now? Is it fair to say you're dialed? I've heard people say that I've been playing a lot of PGA Tour, two K video games, and they say, Oh, yeah, yeah, we actually need to talk about about Hank.

00:45:25.08 – 00:45:41.78

So the hank clip of him trying to get out of the bunker, he's at Augusta, he's trying to get out of the bunker, he's chipping downhill, he's shooting. Like, Uh, I don't even know what you call like a 12 bogey on a hole, you told me that we call it a hank on tour.

00:45:42.10 – 00:45:51.16

You told me that the fellows were laughing at it, were you showing it to to other golfers? And everybody was just having a good laugh at Hank. We were on the range in Austin, it was for.

1Speaker 1
00:45:51.16 – 00:46:12.84

The video, Uh, it wasn't a bunker one which I saw yesterday. It was the one where he hits, uh, he puts it off the green on nine, and then you say, bite and that I. We all lost it. So I saw it in the morning. And then I was showing Joe and I was showing, uh, my buddy Edward and some of the other players. Uh. And I mean, as funny as the video is, you guys laughing like, I don't PFT like.

00:46:12.84 – 00:46:35.82

I know you, I know you're, you know part. uh character. Uh, obviously, unless your name really is pft, uh, but you. So you guys laugh a lot, we listened to you guys laugh a lot on the show. But every once in a while we'll get like a true, genuine laugh. Like when Max was going through it last week, you had the funniest laugh ever, cause neither of you guys could stop fucking giggling.

00:46:35.86 – 00:46:50.64

And we were all laughing at that by the end of it. So then I see Hank's bunker video, Uh, yesterday, uh, I saw that one last night, and I've just never seen. I mean, I just don't understand, I just don't get it, like, I don't get, I don't get how it's that hard.

00:46:50.70 – 00:46:55.40

Maybe I need to try playing it, but man, that shit is fucking hilarious. The game's not that hard.

2Speaker 2
00:46:55.64 – 00:47:00.94

You're right, frustrated, frustrated. Hank is is a top character, cause he gets so angry.

00:47:01.52 – 00:47:06.10

Yeah, yeah, he, just. he, just cause I can see it in my face like I can see my head.

00:47:06.20 – 00:47:12.96

Uh, he just has his tongue out and he's focusing so hard, he puts his, he does his face where he has his tongue like.

4Speaker 4
00:47:12.96 – 00:47:27.90

Halfway out and he's just like he talks the most shit of anybody, and the second something goes sideways for him. He just shuts up and he pretends that his mic doesn't work, that he's accidentally muted, and then he'll come back. He's so bad at that game, yes.

00:47:29.00 – 00:47:30.24

Usually, you got to play video.

1Speaker 1
00:47:30.24 – 00:47:41.30

Games to kind of get away from, you know, all the frustration, but, uh, he plays golf and and then goes straight to struggle at Augusta National. Yes, yes, all right. So um, speaking.

2Speaker 2
00:47:41.30 – 00:47:54.50

Of the course, we're big course guys. What's the one or two holes that we should be looking out for this year? That you're, like, you have circled like, Hey, I gotta, I gotta have a good strategy here. So we know what to watch when we're, when we're watching all weekend. Well, I'll lead with.

1Speaker 1
00:47:54.58 – 00:48:06.46

I know you guys are big fans of, uh, you know, the course winning. And I saw a lot of rain next week, so you guys might have a tough week there. I think it'll be soft, so, uh, might be a lot of birdies, uh, big hole.

00:48:07.20 – 00:48:29.18

Uh, I think 13 always plays, they changed it a little bit this year, but that one always seems to be really important. 13 and 15 on the back nine, and then on the front, uh, four and five are the two hardest holes, um, on the front nine. So those two. I think when you see people play those two, well, uh, you'll see somebody who's probably going to have a good chance.

00:48:29.60 – 00:48:46.98

Usually, you see a lot of birdies on the back nine and the front nine. If you shoot anywhere between even and two, three under. Uh, that usually sets you up for a great day. Uh, but I mean, the whole golf course is pretty damn awesome. pft, you know, you play it all the time. uh, it's a pretty great golf course. So, uh, there's a lot of holes, I could say, but those, those seem to.

4Speaker 4
00:48:46.98 – 00:49:00.84

Stick out well. I usually only play the first nine holes because Hank quits after nine, so I don't know what the I don't know what the second nine is like. Did you just call out the course? It sounded like you just called out the course. I mean, I'm coming for birdies.

00:49:00.88 – 00:49:01.42

I'm coming for.

1Speaker 1
00:49:01.42 – 00:49:06.16

Blood, So someone's got to pop their chest out to it at some point. Yeah, you just said that.

4Speaker 4
00:49:06.16 – 00:49:19.00

There's going to be some low scores out there, I like it, I think there might be how. When are we going to know what the course is going to be like, if it's going to show its teeth or not? Is it during the, uh, like for you, specifically during the par three competition? Are you going?

1Speaker 1
00:49:19.00 – 00:49:28.68

To that's usually a telling sign. Yeah, cause I'm going, I'm going for it this year. Uh, just you see two, three holes in one. Uh, you know, you know, the course is getting a little nervous.

2Speaker 2
00:49:29.26 – 00:49:33.82

Yeah, yeah, okay. So, um, what's our plan? You don't know your pairings yet?

00:49:34.14 – 00:49:43.30

Uh, what's our plan? If they do pair you with Tiger? Uh, are we going to have a better plan than the British Open? When you melt it into a puddle, uh, we got to stay mentally strong.

1Speaker 1
00:49:43.58 – 00:49:55.32

So if I play with Tiger, um, I think I think we can, we can use the open. Uh, I forget what you call it, a pool of of tears, you were melting, you were melting.

2Speaker 2
00:49:55.32 – 00:50:00.36

You're like, Oh, I love him so much. Oh, I don't even know how to shoot my own golf shots.

1Speaker 1
00:50:01.34 – 00:50:10.84

Yeah, I shoot and shooting them wrong. Um, they, uh, yeah, I think it'll go a lot better. Uh. And that would be wild to play with them in Backsmack major, so I doubt that would happen.

00:50:11.42 – 00:50:20.64

Uh, but I think I'll be, you know, I got it out of my system, I got tears out of my system. Uh. The kleenex has been removed from the bag. Uh, I think I'm pretty, I'm pretty ready for that.

2Speaker 2
00:50:20.64 – 00:50:29.48

Okay, and now, who would you like to be paired with? Like, who? If we? They get paired? If you get paired with them, everyone's going to be like, All right, Max, this is, you play well with this.

1Speaker 1
00:50:29.48 – 00:50:36.86

Person Oh, who I play well with. Um, I think I'd like to play with Justin Thomas. I think that'd be a good one, okay?

00:50:36.88 – 00:51:10.82

I do think like the live thing's going to be funny because, like, I feel like anybody who's playing with, you know, Phil or Cameron Smith or DJ or Brooks. It's just going to be like, none of us really have any bad blood. But they've, like, made, uh, the like, you know, fans or whatever have made it out to be like we. It's going to be so awkward. Uh, so, I think that would be quite funny, just to see the reaction. I'm sure I'll get a lot of texts like, oh, man, you know, do you think you guys are going to talk today? And, uh, like, yeah, that's really not as big of a deal.

00:51:11.06 – 00:51:23.48

I think that'd be fun, but yeah, I think playing with Justin Thomas, I usually play quite well with him. And so I think that would be a good sign that, uh, the the powers that be at Augusta are looking out for me, so something like that.

4Speaker 4
00:51:23.48 – 00:51:26.80

Uh, Max, just a just a pointer. They're called patrons at Augusta, not.

1Speaker 1
00:51:26.80 – 00:51:37.98

Oh, Patriot fans, fans like in, you know, that'll be on on the internet. Patrons at the golf course who are not allowed their phones probably won't be tweeting me. Or else by penalty of death.

2Speaker 2
00:51:37.98 – 00:51:57.62

Yes, yes, yes, uh. Let's also just say right now. For any awls that are lucky enough to get to Augusta, which I would say, this is probably the one tournament. You won't get called a pervert. A lot because I'm looking forward to that. Our fan base is probably can't afford it. Um, we, we've never been to Augusta, where we just sit on the outside wall.

00:51:57.80 – 00:52:10.86

The rich people get to go to Augusta. But, uh, let's just say if there are any awls that are there, uh. Maybe just a positive like, Hey, Max, you're doing great, just you're doing great. Yeah, keep going, that'd be great.

00:52:10.98 – 00:52:11.14

I've.

1Speaker 1
00:52:11.14 – 00:52:20.28

Been I? So? I've been wrestling with this, I've been talking to Lacey about this? Uh, she's like, Man, I really hate that they call you pervert, and I said, Yeah, me too.

00:52:20.32 – 00:52:58.64

But I was like, you can't say, like, stop calling me that, because we learned in second grade that you can't do that. So, so, I will say this I'm really excited for a Week of Peace because that has become. I don't know how this works. Uh, as I'm only a one-time take the award winner, uh. But I'm hoping that whoever wins it this year, we'll take that crown and everyone will forget. Uh, I think that would be quite nice, uh. But I would say that to any of the AWs that are there at Augusta National. I, I would. I would recommend not calling me a pervert there because I don't think it's going to be received super well.

00:52:59.44 – 00:53:12.34

I do. There was a guy who got kicked out, I heard at the Players Championship because security said, you got to stop saying that. And I guess he said it again. And it was kind of, it was kind of internet in real life, because, you know, I'm sure he was complaining.

00:53:12.34 – 00:53:19.50

Like, it's, it's a joke from a podcast, and the lady's like, I don't fucking care, right right. At the end of the day, I don't listen to that.

00:53:19.58 – 00:53:27.28

So I don't know what you're talking about. You're still calling him a pervert? Yeah, people seem to miss that, like you'll hear a couple of snickers when someone says it.

00:53:27.28 – 00:53:33.30

And then a lot of people be like, Hey man, like, Chill, yeah, thank you, like this is real life, yes.

00:53:33.48 – 00:53:35.96

Yeah, no, I'm on, I'm on your side on that one.

4Speaker 4
00:53:35.98 – 00:53:49.88

Like, yeah, we can't, we can't. Say, like, do not call him a pervert, but you will be. You will be kicked out of Augusta if you say that to him. Yeah, and we want you there. Cheering on Max for the long weekend and well into Sunday afternoon. We should, we should start, yeah.

2Speaker 2
00:53:49.90 – 00:53:55.86

We should just start instead of calling that's perfect. Let's just say he's Italian. Everyone will know what you're saying, yeah.

00:53:57.78 – 00:54:06.90

Exactly, yeah, yeah. Maybe after you hit a t a good tee shot, be like, that's a spicy meatball, that's fucking funny.

00:54:07.32 – 00:54:07.32

Yeah.

00:54:09.06 – 00:54:17.78

Okay, so we can work with that, we can work with that. Um, all right. So, uh, I really hope that they I forgot the whole live angle.

00:54:17.78 – 00:54:25.48

Like, I hope they they put, like, Uh, Phil with with Rory or Phil with Tiger would be so great. Oh my god.

1Speaker 1
00:54:25.82 – 00:54:37.20

Sergio Rory and Tiger Phil are two. That I just think would be, uh, that that would be a spicy meatball right there, that would be, that would be a chef's kiss. Italian hand. Yeah, that would.

4Speaker 4
00:54:37.20 – 00:54:46.20

Be really good. Yeah, uh, Max, I don't know if I need to call you out on it, but the internet at large called you out. Are you? Are you a slow player now? Oh, I'm glad this is up.

00:54:46.34 – 00:54:46.70

Um.

1Speaker 1
00:54:46.70 – 00:55:01.90

No, that video is 52 seconds, we get 45 seconds to hit a shot, so that was too slow. Uh, I understand, it looks way shittier than when you walk around, uh, but I went. I wanted to check, cause I've always thought of myself as quite, uh, quite a fast player.

00:55:02.62 – 00:55:16.06

Uh, and so I went like, we can look up how, like our average time or whatever, so I looked it up. And I am not slow. So that made me feel good. But it was also that was like a perfect understanding of the internet. One clip of one putt.

00:55:16.06 – 00:55:25.78

Uh, and uh, that's just the way the world works now. Yeah, you know what it was, I'll wear it, but I at least I found out that I am not in this one clip, that that's going.

4Speaker 4
00:55:25.78 – 00:55:37.20

Around, Uh, it's Max putting, it's you're reading a putt from both sides of it. And the cinematography on the clip is just incredible. It makes it seem way longer than it is because it cuts to you.

00:55:37.30 – 00:55:55.38

It cuts away back to you and you're in like a different position. The second time they come back. And then there's a guy waiting on a bridge for you to finish putting, and then the camera cuts back to you and you're still reading the putt. So, like, yes, as as the stopwatch goes, it wasn't exceptionally slow, but I heard rumors out there that you were apologizing for your pace of play.

1Speaker 1
00:55:55.42 – 00:56:12.40

And I wanted to see where we were at with that. I under. As a fan of golf, I understand that it looks like shit, so I would like it to be a faster. I didn't really put two and two together, that the clip was that short, so after I apologize, I realized it wasn't that bad. But I will say this shout out to the producer and the cameraman.

00:56:12.64 – 00:56:20.32

They must've been loving that. Like, back back to the guys playing, who's about to jump in the lake? All right back to Max, standing a different direction, right back to that guy.

00:56:20.32 – 00:56:24.86

It looks like he's crying, Okay, back, he's. he's mad at Max. see if he's got a knife.

00:56:24.90 – 00:56:37.40

Like that guy was he, he went from like a sports, uh, you know, producer to like a daytime Emmy producer. So quickly, and I was pretty impressed with how how that all laid out. I was, I was, uh, I was a fan of that video.

4Speaker 4
00:56:37.40 – 00:56:40.70

I don't want you to change anything about your game right now, you're in the zone, Max.

00:56:42.78 – 00:56:47.74

We're fully gassing you up. We were a hundred percent homosexuals going into the masters.

2Speaker 2
00:56:48.08 – 00:56:51.64

Don't watch any YouTube videos about your swing. I did that and it fucked me up.

1Speaker 1
00:56:52.46 – 00:57:14.64

Yeah, no, I've learned from your mistakes. Um, I wonder. I was listening to, Uh, some of you guys had on last sometime last week, uh, about your, your theory, uh, which is accurate to golf that, uh. If you don't like your score, you just make the score you want it to be and write that down. Yeah, um, so I'm wondering if that's a wonder. No, not, it's not a theory, it's fact.

00:57:14.68 – 00:57:34.34

I wonder if Augusta is removing the erasers, essentially to forbid this kind of activity. Uh, because that would be a pretty easy way to win the Masters. I feel like I was doing some, some studying and I feel like that wasn't. I mean, I've been working on shipping and hitting, but I have not really thought about pencil whipping too much. And that seemed like not a bad idea. This is the shit that.

2Speaker 2
00:57:34.34 – 00:57:48.62

I wish, uh, golfers, I know that there's rules and they don't want to be, you know, getting in trouble. But like, if you maybe get an injury on the course and you're going to withdraw anyway, just put like a 62 and have them do you and then just walk off.

1Speaker 1
00:57:49.18 – 00:58:16.84

There is a story this girl got in trouble in college, but she so back in college. You know, now we have a guy who walks with us, uh, and puts in our score. He told Like, update, you know, obviously for Uh fans, UH patrons, if you will, uh, and like the It's big on, like gambling. Obviously, in college it's a lot different. It's just your parents, uh, watching the scores online. But every three holes, you tell there's a PR, a volunteer standing on the green and you say, Hey, I went like, four, three, four.

00:58:17.32 – 00:58:34.34

And, uh, they type that in or whatever. So she decided she was going to fuck with everybody at regionals, which is a big event. And uh. So she told the person. I just went two, three, two, I went one, three, three. So she's like, nine under through nine and everyone's wigging out, and she realized this halfway through.

00:58:34.34 – 00:59:00.72

This might be a problem because, you know, the other coaches are also looking at these scores to see what place their team is and all that stuff. So she started going like, eight, five, five, uh, five, seven, four, like trying to even it back out. And I think she might've got, like, suspended because like, completely fucked with, like, the nature of the golf tournament. So I've I've always thought about, maybe if my walking score was ever just in a in a silly, goofy mood. If they were like, you know what fuck it?

00:59:00.82 – 00:59:05.06

Hole in one on number eight, the par five. That was the greatest shot in the history.

2Speaker 2
00:59:05.06 – 00:59:10.38

Of the world, Max Home is now leading the mass. Yeah, wait, wait, so this guy, that's a great story.

00:59:10.44 – 00:59:30.30

I i that that woman has a great sense of humor. Um, so so the person walking with you, doing the score, do you ever catch them doing like the classic? Like standing at the green, being like, all right one and then two, and then, like, you know, like every guy's had that moment, we're like, Wait, did I hit another one there like you ever see him? Like, trying to actually do?

1Speaker 1
00:59:30.30 – 00:59:38.46

It in his head. So I think what they do is they have a piece of paper or something like that and they write down like a tally by cause. They have to do three people someday, so that would be tricky.

00:59:38.46 – 01:00:01.14

Right, and they do a tally, and I've always wanted to see, you know, like Heaven not one time made a 16 on a whole. Um, you know, people have made like fourteens and fifteens, and like, I always want to see that tally line. This guy just scrambling, like how he's like, literally doing math to try to figure out what, what score to type in. Uh, but yeah, I've never seen the finger counting, but I will, uh, now I'll keep my eye out.

01:00:01.32 – 01:00:03.14

Okay, all right, so Max, I have two.

2Speaker 2
01:00:03.14 – 01:00:15.26

Last things one is you need to, um, just stare into your son's eyes before you start on Thursday. So, like, long stare, this is what I'm doing. It for perspective. Um, maybe a little tears.

01:00:15.26 – 01:00:22.68

That's fine, just get the full soak in the perspective, okay, soak in it. It's funny you say that, because.

1Speaker 1
01:00:22.68 – 01:00:38.76

My uh, now, uh, five month old son told me just two days ago that he said. He said these are his words, not mine. He said Daddy, I believe you're going to win the Masters, uh, and you're going to shove it right in bat girl's face. He said. Those words, Yeah.

01:00:38.78 – 01:00:44.10

It was pretty awesome, considering that he hadn't spoken any words before and he just strung along such an eloquent sentence.

2Speaker 2
01:00:44.10 – 01:00:52.22

I he did, he also say. I thought I saw it on Twitter that he also said, Uh, hey, daddy, is it true that, uh, the night I was conceived, you were being a real pervert?

1Speaker 1
01:00:54.08 – 01:01:05.54

Uh, I didn't know he had a Twitter account. It was probably a burner, so I'm going to need to go and check his, check his phone. But I wouldn't put it past him the way the way he's been, uh, the way he's been speaking to me, uh, I would not put it past him, okay?

01:01:05.60 – 01:01:06.34

All right, then my last.

2Speaker 2
01:01:06.34 – 01:01:11.12

Question is, What do you think about your Dodgers this year? Uh, you know it, it's odd, I mean.

1Speaker 1
01:01:11.12 – 01:01:36.70

This is like total fandom. But, uh, it's odd, I feel like every other year where we, like, spent just a zillion dollars. There was so much pressure to to win the World Series or bus, and, uh, this year, I almost feel like maybe that will be the key to us winning the World Series again. Not, uh, okay, well, but winning it again, uh, so it'll, I don't know.

01:01:36.72 – 01:01:59.90

It'll be a fun season. It's actually quite fun because everybody you know for the last eight or nine years has, like, in the division. Like all my friends from southern, southern California, uh, we'll be like, Oh my god, you guys just spend so much fucking money, oh my God. And now, like, the Padres have just decided that, you know, their credit cards work and they're just shelling out cash. So now now I'm just like, have fun this year.

01:01:59.94 – 01:02:13.18

If you guys don't fucking win, it's a complete. And I've had to deal with that for the last decade, so enjoy that. So I look forward to hopefully the Padres flaming out and the Dodgers somehow backdooring it. But I, I'm with you, I think.

01:02:13.18 – 01:02:42.74

Last podcast, you guys talked about something about how, like, yeah, fandom is is. Rooting for your team and hoping they win, but it's almost more fun when the teams you hate suck. So, uh, if the Dodgers do, in fact, uh, not excel, as I'm hoping they will, I will truly enjoy myself rooting against the Padres and Giants this year. So, uh, I feel good, I mean, they still got a really good lineup. But, uh, it's obviously a bit different that, uh. Then when they just, you know, brought, uh, pulled up the bridge truck to just about anybody they wanted.

4Speaker 4
01:02:42.74 – 01:02:48.24

Okay, so that was the Lakers and they're really good, so you don't have to be too short, you're.

2Speaker 2
01:02:48.24 – 01:03:00.24

Too short. Also, just just want to let everyone know, all the listeners. That was our baseball preview. so, um, yeah, appreciate that. that was our entire baseball preview this year, so.

1Speaker 1
01:03:00.24 – 01:03:12.82

That'll be fun, I mean, hopefully he finds it, cause, I mean, he's, he's awesome, but that'll be. It's always weird when you have guys on the team, you know, for a long time, and then they, then they dip out. But at least he's still in blue and white, so I guess I can kind of get.

2Speaker 2
01:03:12.82 – 01:03:16.34

Down with it, yeah, the Cubs are going to be my my line about the Cubs this year is they're going.

1Speaker 1
01:03:16.34 – 01:03:23.80

To be sneaky, not bad, take that, however you really get to it. I've got a one team rivalry.

4Speaker 4
01:03:23.94 – 01:03:38.22

As long as we're not as bad as the athletics, then I'm happy with the national season. It's a race to the bottom. Uh, last thing, Max, when you win the Masters, which you can do physically and mentally, thank you. You have to agree to come on. Part of my take, for at least.

1Speaker 1
01:03:38.22 – 01:03:53.56

Five minutes that Sunday night. Oh man, you'll have whatever y'all need. I mean, that's easy. I'm going to be wearing a green jacket and smiling ear to ear. Uh, so yeah, I'm very, and I will be royally wasted by the time I get on.

01:03:53.66 – 01:03:55.64

I'm sure not to put any pressure on you.

2Speaker 2
01:03:55.72 – 01:03:58.44

But I'm going to bet on you so much I might win more money than you do.

1Speaker 1
01:03:58.90 – 01:04:20.66

I hope you do, man. That would be so, that would be awesome. I would be so happy if that was the case. I, I, I. What I hope happens is that you win the most money anyone's ever won on a single bet. And somehow, Batgirl like his, his, his, his like account fucked it up and he did bet on Rocco Media. And he's not even playing and he's going to be cheering the whole weekend.

01:04:20.74 – 01:04:30.34

He's going to cry tears of joy. And then he's going to go to look at his account to see all the commas. And he's going to say, it's going to be red again. Uh, so happy, yeah.

01:04:30.38 – 01:04:31.30

I mean, I think.

4Speaker 4
01:04:31.34 – 01:04:37.54

I think we're all loading up on you. It's max of the year. Yeah, perfect Monday is either going.

1Speaker 1
01:04:37.54 – 01:04:43.62

To be a great day or a fucking terrible day for me? Yeah, no, no, no, great day, great day, so.

2Speaker 2
01:04:43.62 – 01:04:50.10

Let's stay positive. Uh, Max, thank you as always. good luck in Augusta. we'll be cheering you. Uh, we'll be rooting.

01:04:50.22 – 01:04:54.40

We'll be watching everything and everyone. Just spicy meatball, he's a spicy.

1Speaker 1
01:04:54.40 – 01:05:00.62

Meatball, that's what we're all meatball. Thank you guys and thank you guys for having me on. This has been a nice running four year tradition.

01:05:00.62 – 01:05:12.70

So I'd like to, I'd like to keep this one going. Also. Jake, Hi, I love you. you're the nicest man in the world to say I'm going to see you. But, uh, yeah, I'm looking forward to. uh, I'm looking forward to this. This should be fun.

2Speaker 2
01:05:12.92 – 01:05:18.84

Yes, all right, awesome. Nothing for Billy. Uh, he can send me an animal video if you'd like.

1Speaker 1
01:05:19.06 – 01:05:24.20

But not guaranteed to watch it. But I mean that that that kind of worked last year.

4Speaker 4
01:05:24.52 – 01:05:27.36

So I think, maybe Sunday, maybe Sunday, if you're in contention.

1Speaker 1

01:08:37.38 – 01:08:45.38

Shane, you're doing everything, we're, we have you on to talk some masters. Uh, we're taping this before Master's week, but we're we're running this Master's week.

01:08:45.44 – 01:08:54.02

So it is Master's week. Um, let's start big picture. Uh, is anyone better, or is anyone going to beat Scotty Sheffler?

01:08:54.10 – 01:09:12.58

Cause it feels like for the first time since Tigers run in the early two thousands, it's like, you, you, you. Scotty Sheffler's playing at a different level than everyone else and it's going to be hard if he plays even 90 of his best to beat him. Yeah, you know, the interesting thing about the.

3Speaker 3
01:09:12.58 – 01:09:36.04

Whole Scotty Sheffler experience was last year, it seemed not like a fluke. I mean, he, you know, he won in Phoenix, he'd obviously won in Bay Hill and he'd won the match play. But young people don't win at the Masters, young players win everywhere else. But typically, it takes a bit of time to get experience on the golf course. And to not be intimidated by the whole fact that you're trying to win a green jacket and to join like the most exclusive club in sport.

01:09:36.20 – 01:10:03.42

And the fact that he was able to do that. And then he continued on and played well at the U S. Open and nearly won there, and then already has a win this season. I think it's a great point in terms of who can beat this guy because he obviously hits the ball as far as anybody out there, which is very important at Augusta. But it's his hands and his chipping around the greens that I think was so impressive last year and continues to impress me. In terms of how he goes about his business, I mean, this is a guy that literally chips in what feels like every round.

01:10:03.68 – 01:10:34.02

And when you think back to that final round last year, you know. It seemed like he was kind of starting to do what young people do on Sunday at the Masters. And he hits that bump and run on three and it goes in for Birdie and the rest, you know, as part of Scotty Sheffler history. So I would say he's my favorite with the way he's playing and the way he played in Austin. Headed into this golf course and knowing that if you play well at Augusta, you typically play well at Augusta, year in and year out. I think he is the favorite going in and it's going to take monumental efforts to kind of knock them off that cause. He doesn't seem intimidated by the other players.

4Speaker 4
01:10:34.12 – 01:10:41.98

And by the moment they're at the Masters, yeah, more importantly, what is Scotty style when it comes to his sliders at the Champions? So we figured that out, yeah.

01:10:42.12 – 01:10:47.08

Because, yeah, my theory is it's just like seasoning salt that he puts on at the end, he's like, now it's Scotty.

3Speaker 3
01:10:47.08 – 01:11:03.86

Style So sliders to me are best untouched. I don't need a lot on a slider. burgers are a different story, but to me, maybe a pickle throw cheese on there, but I don't need more than that for a slider. I think it was UPFT that said. He's going to lick all of them.

01:11:03.94 – 01:11:04.44

Is that right?

2Speaker 2
01:11:04.78 – 01:11:09.80

That might've been big cat. Yeah, yeah, just a little kiss on each slider.

3Speaker 3
01:11:10.28 – 01:11:21.18

I just want to see Gary Player's face. If a Scotty walked by and licked his, uh, his slider before he consumed it. But that'll be a question, I think that'll pop up in the press conferences. What is Scotty style for a slider?

01:11:21.30 – 01:11:28.40

I'll be very interested. I'm from Texas. I don't really think we have a slider feel, uh, that is any different than other places.

4Speaker 4
01:11:28.40 – 01:11:41.14

But I guess we'll find that out. It's like when, when dad say, like, I serve this one up, Dad mode or whatever. And they just mix ketchup and mustard together, it's like, that's dad's special sauce. I think it's probably going to be something, maybe like a touch of barbecue sauce on top, and now it's Scott.

01:11:41.26 – 01:11:41.62

Typically.

3Speaker 3
01:11:41.62 – 01:11:45.04

It's just when I overcook stuff, I say, that's my own style, right? It's like.

4Speaker 4
01:11:45.10 – 01:11:54.28

That's just well done, you're going to love it, yeah. A real golf question about Scotty's play at his peak. He does seem like he's the best, but what about John Rahm?

01:11:54.38 – 01:11:59.08

If we've got peak John Rahm going up against peak Scotty Sheffler, who wins that?

3Speaker 3
01:12:00.02 – 01:12:18.92

PFt. I know you've become a dimple head, as you call it. I know you're really obsessed with the game, and you understand that when you're really dialed, it's tough to be taken down. I mean, unless you're playing Big Cat at Shinnecock, it's almost impossible to beat certain players on the golf course. I would say, right now, if Scotty Sheffler is playing his best golf, it's the best in the world.

01:12:18.98 – 01:12:36.06

And that is definitely not something I would have said six months ago. I think six months ago it would have been Rory, or it would have been John Rahm or even Cameron Smith. With the way, obviously, you played at St. Andrews, but to me, right now, with the way Scotty Sheffler is able to get the ball in the hole and then around the greens, I think his best is the best in professional golf.

2Speaker 2
01:12:36.46 – 01:12:53.64

Interesting So, um, the other big storyline for this Masters is obviously the live guys showing up. Uh, last year was a little weird because they hadn't played, you know, some of them weren't in officially in live. They hadn't played a live event yet. This year, live is established as much as it can be.

01:12:54.24 – 01:13:13.36

You have the the the Scotty dinner, the green Jacket dinner, and then you have the pairing. So is it going to be awkward? Do you think at this dinner? Do you think that it's going to be like, Hey you guys, or does having a green jacket that exclusive club? Trump all and they, and they kind of put, put it aside and go.

3Speaker 3
01:13:13.36 – 01:13:31.56

With the manners route, I think some of the players are trying their hardest to make it a little uncomfortable. I mean, you've seen some of the comments from Sergio Garcia, who will be in there at the Champions dinner. You've seen Fred couples take shots at a couple of these guys. You know, in the media. I mean, the quotes have been floating around, but I think when they get there, it won't be awkward.

01:13:31.70 – 01:13:50.40

I mean, these are adult men having dinner, eating sliders. I mean, how awkward can it be? As you guys have said, it feels very much like a Ruby Tuesdays or an Applebee's menu. for these guys. you can't be unhappy at an Applebee's. I. I will say I did watch a Superbowl at a Chili's once alone, and I was relatively unhappy that night.

01:13:50.40 – 01:13:59.88

I was on the road. And you don't want to go to like a that type of restaurant and watch the actual Superbowl. There's not a lot of cheering and happiness happening around that bar.

4Speaker 4
01:14:00.06 – 01:14:09.54

My perfect date with myself. Go to Chili's solo. The Superbowl is on TV. You eat all the chips for yourself, you drink all the margaritas that they sell.

2Speaker 2
01:14:09.74 – 01:14:13.26

Yeah, you, you know what, you have a limited mindset. Shane Yeah, you're not unlimited.

3Speaker 3
01:14:13.52 – 01:14:27.46

Yeah, you guys, you guys might be right, can I say, though, that the fact that they now put the calorie count on the chili's chips in case. So when you eat that whole thing by yourself, it does make you feel like a lesser person. It's like 3000 calories.

2Speaker 2
01:14:27.60 – 01:14:31.10

I feel like it actually is more of an accomplishment. I'm like, look at the score.

3Speaker 3
01:14:31.10 – 01:14:36.58

I put up a high score today. Take that. Yeah, that's skillet case, maybe skillet cases on the.

2Speaker 2
01:14:36.58 – 01:14:46.46

Sliders Yes, so all right. So when? When we get to the actual tournament, there's obviously going to be some live guys paired with. You know, it's just the nature of it, they're not going to put all the live guys together.

01:14:46.88 – 01:15:02.08

So, um, do you expect anything in that respect? Like, Uh, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm guessing. We're just going to make every little interaction, we're going to overblow it and be like, Oh, look at this cold stare from Rory. But um, is there anything to expect there?

3Speaker 3
01:15:02.08 – 01:15:20.72

To look out for. I don't think at the Masters you're going to see that. I think these players understand that of all the golf tournaments they play in, this is the one where you don't make it about yourself. Or, you know, strife among players and people. I think we are going to talk about that in terms of media, I think we will blow this up as we get closer and closer to Thursday.

01:15:20.72 – 01:15:49.48

But when you get out on the golf course, I'd say people are going to be relatively calm and, you know, respectful and gentlemen-like. But I will say, this big cat of all the microphones in golf, it's the loudest. One is at Augusta. And if you are going to say something, if Phil Mickelson does want to take a shot or does want to say something about another person. If you say it there, you understand that everybody's going to be listening. So if there is a place that you could make a comment that's going to float around outside of golf circles, it could happen here. But I don't expect too much of that in terms of the players.

01:15:49.48 – 01:15:58.48

I think they understand that at this, at this golf tournament, at this place, at this golf course, understanding what the masters is all about. They'll probably be gentlemen-y, I'd say.

2Speaker 2
01:15:58.50 – 01:16:06.18

Okay, we need Phil Mic'd up because Phil is the one guy that if you just get him talking, he'll just say a bunch of. And then afterwards be like, whoops. Didn't mean to say that.

3Speaker 3
01:16:08.38 – 01:16:23.66

He's done it before. I mean, if you think back to that Ryder Cup press conference years ago, where he's literally sitting next to the captain taking shots at him. I mean, Phil is, he's a lot of things, he's a very smart guy, and Phil understands what he says. He understands that. It's calculated.

01:16:23.90 – 01:16:42.12

And if he says things to ruffle feathers, he's doing it on purpose. So I would say, if there's anybody to kind of put odds on, it might, you know, maybe go that way. It would be Phil Mickelson. But I also understand that this is Phil's favorite week and it's his favorite golf tournament. And I think the last place he wants to upset people at is Augusta Nationals.

01:16:42.20 – 01:16:45.60

So I think he'll be, I think he'll be subdued to a certain extent.

4Speaker 4
01:16:45.60 – 01:16:59.96

We've got a lot of listeners out there in the younger demographic, a lot of kids that are massive fans of the Aces on the live tour. Yeah, yeah, yeah, my four-year-old son Chris, he can't get enough. Patrick Reed, who is the one person from the live tour that you think could actually win the Masters?

01:17:00.62 – 01:17:04.72

And how awkward would that be if a live player won at Augusta?

3Speaker 3
01:17:05.26 – 01:17:28.68

I'm going to go back to Cam Smith. I mean, obviously that's taking the last major winner, so that's maybe an easy way out. But he's had a ton of success at Augusta, played great here last year, he's got a great short game and he's an incredible putter. And those things are very important at this golf course in particular. So I would say he'd be on the top of my list. Dustin Johnson has won a green jacket before and typically plays well in majors and gets himself in top 10..

01:17:28.88 – 01:18:14.06

But I think of all the storylines going in, that is. The one I'm most interested in is considering how little amount of golf they've played in a professional environment. I think they'll only have three live events going in to the Masters, including the weekend that we just had in Orlando. They haven't played a lot of tournament golf, and tournament golf is. It's like going to the gym, I mean, you're not going to be, you know? You're going to be way more sore if you take breaks, weeks off going to the gym. And your mind isn't going to be as sharp for tournament golf if you're not playing as much as like Rory and Scotty and Max, and that whole crew who's been playing, you know, since the wraparound season last year. So if somebody does win, a live player does win. I will take it as more impressive than maybe anything else. Because, again, I mean, they just haven't gone through the reps.

01:18:14.24 – 01:18:15.74

It might be too quiet out there for him.

4Speaker 4
01:18:15.94 – 01:18:21.14

Live is is golf, but louder. So they might not be used to all the silence. Yeah, maybe, like.

3Speaker 3
01:18:21.14 – 01:18:30.96

Headphones like 10 Cup when he was doing the qualifier, like, maybe bring a stringed headphone. Yeah, Big Cat does. When he's traveling. That would be a play. It would be funny if they didn't slip.

2Speaker 2
01:18:30.96 – 01:18:42.18

Not, yeah. It would be funny if we also could watch the live golfers on CW just out of, like, you know, Masters cut a deal with CW. We're just watching them simulcast, just so they feel.

3Speaker 3
01:18:42.18 – 01:18:45.82

Comfortable group coverage. I love that, I love that these are the live dudes.

4Speaker 4
01:18:45.96 – 01:19:00.06

Yes, would there be anything that would stop the live tour from, like turning the masters, having their own tournament inside of the Masters? So, like whichever golfer plays the best at Augusta, they also know that they're going to get $10 million from Mohammed bin Solomon.

3Speaker 3
01:19:00.34 – 01:19:10.36

You know, I mean, it's, it's a suggestion. I'd put it in a box. I don't, I don't say, I don't think it's a dumb idea. I just, uh, say, who's the low live guy? And if you win, it's double.

01:19:10.46 – 01:19:13.06

I mean, you know, you never know. They throw money around a lot.

4Speaker 4
01:19:13.32 – 01:19:17.04

Yeah, they might not let them play next year if they do something like that now that I'm.

2Speaker 2
01:19:17.04 – 01:19:25.86

Thinking about it also a big part of it. Yeah, all right. So let's talk about the course. what have they changed and how? What do you expect from the course?

01:19:25.86 – 01:19:26.86

Cause we're big fans of the.

3Speaker 3
01:19:26.86 – 01:19:36.98

Course on this podcast. Yeah, 13 will be a different experience. If you guys remember it, I know you do last year. 15, which is the other part five on the second night at Augusta, that he made it longer.

01:19:37.20 – 01:19:56.10

And considering the weather we had last year, the wind was into the player's face. We didn't see as many players going for 15, you know, in years past, like in Tigers Prime. I mean, he was in five and six irons into that part five. And we saw last year players going forward hitting three woods. They did this same thing to 13, so 13, I think, is the most famous part five in the world.

01:19:56.10 – 01:20:14.16

And I think a lot of golf nerds call it the best hole in the world in terms of golf. They've added distance to that and they've elevated the T as well, so you're going to see a lot more drivers off the T. At 13, I think you're going to see a lot more balls left in the trees and in the creek there. So I think they're bringing in the big numbers again at 13..

01:20:14.38 – 01:20:39.92

So these par fives on the second nine, where we used to see a lot of eagles and a ton of birdies. You're still going to see eagles and birdies. But you're also going to see, you know, six, sevens and eights, which, uh, you know, brings in kind of the old school way of par fives. Back in the day, you know? Curtis Strange, in at 1985, had a great chance to win the Masters. And he made six on 13 and 15, and he was hidden lumber into those par fives. And that's what we're going back to, which is pretty exciting. Okay, so another question about.

2Speaker 2
01:20:39.92 – 01:21:01.72

The course and this is maybe just, uh, my, I don't know enough about golf and how these tournaments work. When it comes to where they put the pins, do they deliberately say like, Oh, these guys are scoring too? Well, let's make it harder as the weekend goes along. Like, do they know already where the pins will be on Saturday or Sunday? Or is that something they decide after the round on Friday and Saturday?

3Speaker 3
01:21:02.06 – 01:21:24.20

I would say they have a good idea of where all the locations are going to be throughout the week, and the only reason they might change them is condition. So maybe they have it on on a, on a high point, and it's an extremely windy day and so they decide to move it a little bit. But at the Masters and at Augusta, I think they have a pretty good idea of where the whole locations will be. All four days, and a lot of them, especially on the second nine, are relatively traditional whole locations.

01:21:24.20 – 01:21:39.62

Like, you guys know, at 16, when Tiger One in 2019, that's the same whole location is when he chipped in. And oh, five. You know where it's going to be on 17, you have a good idea, it's going to be short of the Hill on 18. I mean, these are part of the tradition of the golf course, and the golf tournament is putting them in the same spots.

01:21:39.74 – 01:21:42.42

So fans understand where they're going to be and players do as well.

4Speaker 4
01:21:42.52 – 01:21:52.40

I love it when they release the PIN locations in the morning, so great, so early. You see that tweak, go out there and it's just like, Okay, it's golf time. Baby. Yeah, pft you, you strike me.

3Speaker 3
01:21:52.40 – 01:21:58.00

As a guy that might even print those out just to have it around like a bracket, I picked my own.

4Speaker 4
01:21:58.20 – 01:22:08.10

So I I I map out what I think PIN locations are going to be, then I score myself. It is kind of like a bracket after every day. So if I go, if I go 10 for 18, then that's that's kind of my.

3Speaker 3
01:22:08.10 – 01:22:16.56

Standard that I hold myself to perfect. This is a great idea. So it's like a blueprint of a green, and you place where you think it's going to be. That is next level thinking, yeah.

01:22:16.62 – 01:22:17.16

I predicted.

4Speaker 4
01:22:17.16 – 01:22:23.88

In 2017, I had a perfect bracket on Thursday, it was a perfect front nine. Yeah, it's perfect. Well, you didn't have the perfect pack.

01:22:24.00 – 01:22:30.42

It was a perfect front. Nine on Thursday. Yeah, but they're still talking about to this day. Yeah, they are. It was an incredible job.

3Speaker 3
01:22:31.02 – 01:22:37.56

Big cat, can I ask you a question? I've been interested in this. Yeah, you guys have gotten way more into golf over the last year, year and a half, two years.

01:22:37.88 – 01:22:44.66

What's the power ranking of player at? Part of my take, like who's the best and who's the worst? Well, I Hank plays the most.

2Speaker 2
01:22:44.66 – 01:23:01.82

My problem is, unfortunately, Hank and PFD for me, it's not unfortunate for everyone else, but they're getting really into golf. I don't have the time to golf because I watch every sport. And then I also have two soon to be three kids. So it's hard for me to be like, Oh yeah, I'm watching every sport every day.

01:23:01.82 – 01:23:14.10

And then also on Saturday morning, I'm going to peace out for six hours. So I think it's going to be bad when we start doing more golf. Content for me. But Hank is the one who plays the most, so he should be the best, Jake is the best.

01:23:14.10 – 01:23:20.10

Naturally, like Jake playing his best, we'll beat everyone else, but Hank, he, I mean, how many routes he?

4Speaker 4
01:23:20.10 – 01:23:32.52

Plays, He plays an insane amount of golf. It'd be very embarrassing if Hank wasn't the best right offer on this podcast, but unfortunately, I think that might be the case. I think Jake is the best golfer on the podcast, and then Hank, Hank would be second.

01:23:32.76 – 01:23:47.44

I suck at golf, I just, I still haven't played a full. What do you call a round? Yeah, I haven't played a full round of golf yet, like a full 18. So I think right now, if I were to do it, I would probably shoot 140. But we're working, you know, we're working on it.

01:23:47.48 – 01:23:48.76

I mean, got it, you have to start.

3Speaker 3
01:23:48.76 – 01:24:04.64

Somewhere, I also had an idea for Hank, by the way, you guys, I don't know if you guys know this, you guys do this lottery ball thing. And Big Cat. I know you don't bring it up often that Hank's never gotten it, but wait, he hasn't gotten the number that. I mean, at least that's what I'm hearing. When I listen, I didn't even realize that I'm going to touch, rarely brought up.

01:24:05.36 – 01:24:11.22

It's rarely brought up. Check the numbers. I was thinking about this for Hank when he gets it, if he ever gets it, never.

01:24:11.22 – 01:24:18.90

That's the number he should mark his golf ball, his golf ball. he should personalize his golf ball with that number for the rest of his life. Ooh, I like that. I mean, he never will.

2Speaker 2
01:24:18.90 – 01:24:29.42

Get it, but that's a good idea, like he never, ever will get it. So yeah, we'll never have to be there. But I like the idea if, like, in a fantasy world, we're like, Yeah, Hank's going to get it.

01:24:29.46 – 01:24:44.38

Never going to get it. That'd be like, I don't know. Wait, does the old guys? I know the old guys at the Masters, they tee off, like, why doesn't? Why don't? Some of them say like, I want to play the whole round like the can they do that well, past champions can play.

01:24:44.48 – 01:24:44.96

Okay, they.

3Speaker 3
01:24:44.96 – 01:25:07.32

Can play the masters, but I think the term is it, they have to be competitive. And so I'm assuming there's some sort of a number that, you know, you have to shoot around. And, uh, and I also, I mean, also, these guys don't want to embarrass themselves. But there's been some shots back in the day, Jack smoking one or, or Gary hitting it solid. And you know, it's in a place where the pro was. The guys that are going to tee up after him would love to be.

01:25:07.52 – 01:25:11.70

So, uh, yeah, you know, maybe play one, play one like a like for like, 20 bucks or something.

2Speaker 2
01:25:11.78 – 01:25:19.56

Yeah, if I'm, if I'm Jack the Klaus, I'm playing the whole first two rounds, like I'm playing Thursday and Friday. Being like, it's my right, I'm getting to do this.

01:25:19.64 – 01:25:21.14

I don't know why he does it.

3Speaker 3
01:25:21.92 – 01:25:36.64

Uh, 1998 Crazy little golf. uh, nerdy golf. Stat for you. In 1998, Tiger and Jack finished in the top 10 at the Masters. Oh, that is a relatively wild, that is super wild, that's incredibly wild.

2Speaker 2
01:25:36.76 – 01:25:44.86

Holy shit, I want to go back to a comment you made, uh, and just get more detail on it. You said that young guys struggle at Augusta. Why is that? What? what exactly?

01:25:44.86 – 01:25:51.82

Is it, is it just the scene, the stage is too big, or is it the actual golf course that that guys struggle with?

3Speaker 3
01:25:52.50 – 01:25:54.58

Yeah, I would say it's probably 50, 50.

01:25:54.64 – 01:26:12.64

I think it's a stage, you know, understanding that if you win at the Masters, you're forever in this club. I mean, if you think about Jordan Spieth winning at such a young age, I mean, he's in that rotation for the rest of his life. And I think understanding what that means, I mean, a ton of money comes your way for the next five, 10 years as as a Masters champion.

01:26:12.72 – 01:26:37.94

But I also think it's it's golf course, I think it's understanding that of all the golf courses these guys will play all year long. This is the one where knowledge is the most helpful. You know somebody like, like, Max, right? Max, you don't play any golf course and shoot 65. But to truly understand the intricacies of hole locations and which ones not to go at, and the way Putz will break and tee. Shots that you want to take on and holes that you want to, kind of, you know, pull back on.

01:26:38.08 – 01:26:50.44

I think there's so much of that in play at this golf course in particular. I remember Max telling a story at his first Masters. It was 2020, if you guys remember, that was the November Masters, and he played with Fred Couples, who has played, you know, 40 something Masters.

01:26:50.62 – 01:27:12.24

And he said On 13, Fred couples laid up short of the creek and hit it like five feet off the ground. And Max was walking up and asked him what the reasoning was that for? And he said, If you hit it high and it's soft, you might get a mud ball. So he just kind of puts it down the fairway and it avoids getting bought on the golf ball. I mean, that is the type of knowledge that you get when you play this place, year in and year out.

01:27:12.30 – 01:27:20.84

And so, you know, when you look at the average age of winners, it's typically in their thirties, not in their twenties. Like we're seeing in other golf tournaments, and especially in the modern.

2Speaker 2
01:27:20.84 – 01:27:32.30

ERA I love it, I mean, I love those like intricacies of the masters, that makes it so unique. And I guess it makes sense because these guys can't like they, they can't just play Augusta in like random times in the year.

01:27:32.38 – 01:27:41.92

Correct, like, Max can't just say I want to go play Augusta and get a few rounds in. To learn more about the course. Kenny I think you can go on a scouting.

3Speaker 3
01:27:41.92 – 01:28:03.68

Trip I'm not a hundred percent sure on that. I think if you're in the Masters tournament, you can go play a day or two. But I mean, you can't go five times, you can't go 10 times. I mean, if you want to go and fly up, if you guys watch full swing. You know, last year when Jordan and Justin they went to Tulsa, they played Southern Hills. I mean, you could do that four or five times if you wanted before the PGA Championship, that's not the case, obviously, at the Masters.

And also, Augusta is not open all year round because they're always doing changes and they close it down in the summer. And so, you know, you just you're not allotted that much time to go out there and do that. So, yeah, when you show up Masters week. And the other thing is, the golf course doesn't play like it plays like it does in the Masters, except for Masters week. So you'll hear players say. I was at her two weeks ago, but it was almost, in theory, a waste of my.

Time in terms of tournament prep, interesting. And do they do? They pipe in the bird noises?

3Speaker 3
01:28:29.26 – 01:28:36.08

On television, no, you'll see birds, you'll see birds flying around, there's no piping in. This thing is all natural.

01:28:36.08 – 01:28:43.54

Baby, it is ready to rock. Are you? Are you allowed to carry your cell phone on the course? Cause you're a journalist? I can't.

01:28:43.64 – 01:28:53.50

I think you've got to be like Van Pelt. Level is basically what I cut the line off at. I think if you're Scott Van Pelt or Jim, you might be able to carry it around. But I am not allowed to sell fun on the course.

4Speaker 4
01:28:53.68 – 01:29:01.86

Scott has to be ready in case any Mets get injured. He has to be able to fire off some tweet and start, you know, do a selfie of him doing the gritty across the green. Yeah, exactly.

3Speaker 3
01:29:02.26 – 01:29:10.64

Always, that could be Mount Rushmore of people you'd like to see do. The gritty Van Pelt would be a high on the list. He'd probably rock six, six.

01:29:10.72 – 01:29:12.10

Yeah, I mean, when they bring Darren rough.

4Speaker 4
01:29:12.10 – 01:29:15.50

Back up to the majors, you'll see him do it. Yeah, he's going to be pumped, that's a fact.

2Speaker 2
01:29:15.56 – 01:29:29.28

That's a fact, all right. So give us some other names, Obviously we talked about Scotty, but give us maybe three or four names that you got circled a long shot. Even. They were like, these guys are playing great golf and their game fits Augusta.
