Previously on Red Pilled America.
Sound of Freedom was billed as a movie that was based on a true story.
But the film was unbelievable. I mean, we hear people's true stories for a living, and it wasn't hard to see that this wasn't that.
We're going to do a deeper dive into this.
Yeah, I think we need to do that.
We wanted to know the true story behind the brother and sister that Jim Caviezel called the heroes of the film.
He said, I don't belong here. Then he gives me this dog tag that his sister had given him.
But what Ballard did make clear in his report was that he didn't interview Jose. Ballard. Didn't include the dog tag moment in his report. Because it didn't happen. Ballard used that poor boy's suffering to create his own mythical origin story.
I'm Patrick Karelchi.
And I'm Adriana Cortez.
And this is Red Pilled America, a storytelling show.
This is not another talk show covering the day's news, we're all about telling stories.
Stories Hollywood doesn't want you to hear.
Stories The media mocks stories about everyday Americans that the globalists ignore.
You can think of Red Pilled America as audio documentaries. And we promise only one thing.
The truth?
Welcome to red pilled America.
We're at part five of our series of episodes entitled Con Ink. If you haven't heard parts one through four, stop and go back and listen. From the beginning, we're looking for the answer to the question, What's the purpose of conservative media by chronicling our long search for a story about human sex trafficking? So to pick up where we left off. After a deep dive into the Earl Benton Buchanan federal case, we came to the conclusion that. Tim Ballard fabricated his famous dog tag origin story and used it to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in donations and movie ticket sales.
When we discovered all of this, it begged the question if Tim Ballard was lying about his origin story, what else was he lying about? Uncovering this truth made us rethink an article we'd come across in our research. It was titled The Arrest of Earl Benton Buchanan, and it was on a website called American Crime Journal. This was the article that started our journey.
They'd been investigating Tim Ballard for years and had long come to the same conclusions we'd just been arriving at. One of the guys featured in the article was, I guess you can say, he was the original Tim Ballard skeptic. His name is Len Packer. He'd been investigating Operation Underground Railroad, or our, practically since its launch, so we gave him a call.
I began looking into it the very month that Operation Underground Railroad was formed. I was an investigative reporter, and I'd been freelancing a series of reports on problems within the Utah Attorney General's office.
And so I'd been covering the scandals, and so when Shawn Reyes was appointed, I began covering him and immediately Shawn Reyes as attorney general.
Linked up with Tim Ballard?
Tim Ballard grew up in southern California. He graduated from La Cunada High School, a town about a 15-mile drive northeast of Los Angeles, in the shadow of Hollywood. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After graduating high school, he embarked on a two-year mission in Chile, no doubt fine-tuning his Spanish. In 1994, he says he went on to study that language, along with political science at Brigham Young University.
While there, he met a woman named Catherine. they reportedly married in 1998. He'd graduate from BYU a year later, then allegedly went on to get his master's in international politics from a college in Vermont. Ballard explained what came next on the Jordan Peterson podcast.
I got a graduate degree in international politics and I always wanted to be in federal law enforcement. My first job was CIA, I was there during 9-11, working in the Operations Center, I studied terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. And so it was an easy recruit into the CIA. Because 9-11 had just happened. When I found out that one of the terrorists, Mohammed Atar, had staged his attack from Mexicali, Mexico, and crossed the border. And I speak Spanish. I wanted to go fight terrorism on the southern border.
So I ended up jumping ship from C.I.A. and I joined the newly created Homeland Security Department and became a special agent.
While there, Ballard says he worked on terrorism-related projects, cracking money, guns, things like that.
Six months into that endeavor, I was called into the office of a supervisor. And they asked me if I would please forego everything that I wanted to do with my career. And help them start a child crimes unit.
Ballard contemplated the grave sacrifice to his career.
I do not know why they asked me. One thing he did say to me was, you're a young agent, but you're a person of faith and we know that about you. And that's a requirement. Or your soul will be crushed.
Ballard would eventually accept the position as a special agent for U.
S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, working near California's southern border. He also claimed to pick up a sidekick as an adjunct professor of political science and international relations at a community college in the area.
While working at ICE in early July 2006, as we explained earlier, the Earl Buchanan case landed on his lap. The mythical dog tag moment came out of this event. Ballard claimed it to be a turning point in his life. In his telling after seeing his own name, Timothy, on the dog tag necklace of the boy victim. With the Scripture Man of God on it, he decided to devote his life to rescuing child sex slaves. But by now, I think you know our opinion on this dog tag moment.
In a report Ballard himself authored, Ballard claimed he never interviewed the boy victim of Buchanan in the manner he'd later describe. The dog tag moment is also nowhere to be found in the court documents or ICE reports. Ballard either withheld the critical evidence to a kidnapping case, or, as we've argued, the dog tag moment did not happen. Nevertheless, Ballard did work on the Buchanan case, and, as timing would have it. Just a few weeks after Buchanan's arrest, a new federal law went into effect that Ballard claimed changed his life.
In a few moments, I will sign the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.
On July 27, 2006, President George W. Bush began an effort that would open the door for Tim Ballard's future business model.
The bill I sign today will strengthen federal laws to protect our children from sexual and other violent crimes.
In 2006, the laws changed in the United States, and for the first time, U.
S agents were permitted and encouraged to go overseas and find children who Americans were abusing.
We also launched Operation Predator to help law enforcement track down and arrest foreign pedophiles, human traffickers, sex tourists and internet pornographers who prey on our children.
And we can now hold those Americans accountable, as if they had committed that crime on U.
S soil. That's what really changed my life because I speak Spanish fluently, and they sent me overseas, south of the border.
Ballard claims he saw American pedophiles exploiting kids in South America and American children being exploited there as well. The problem was, as he tells it, if he couldn't quickly make a connection in those foreign cases to either an American pedophile or an American child victim. He had to come home.
And in 2012, I had enough on this case, I went further than otherwise I probably should have.
Ballard says the higher-ups told him he had to come home and drop the case.
And that's when I had a very consequential conversation with my wife and I said, If I do this operation, we will save kids.
But I have to lose my job and we have six children, and this is a moral dilemma like I've never faced in my life.
Ballard says he hoped that his wife Catherine demanded he come home and drop the case, but Catherine allegedly told him to press on.
She said to me, you have to quit your job. It was that easy for her, it became spiritual for her, even she felt a calling.
Now, the timing of all of this is a little suspect, because Ballard wouldn't quit his job until at least a year later. To add to the unlikeliness of his story, at around the same time, he was claiming to have this moral dilemma. While working for ICE in a foreign land, he was also publishing books here in the United States. In fact, he published two that year. His first was a May 2012 release. Entitled The Covenant America's Sacred and Immutable Connection to Ancient Israel, It explored the biblical roots of America's founding.
And to promote the book, Ballard turned to a fellow Mormon.
Tim Ballard is with us. And I want to tell you the story of why this book is important to me and why it should be important to you.
Glenn Beck's trailblazing streaming platform, then called GBTV, was just in its infancy. At the time. Glenn had the new author on and explained that Ballard's book helped validate a theory he'd had about the source of America's strength.
George Washington and the founders made a covenant with God. It is the reason why we were founded, why we were protected, and why Israel was established.
Sometime in the fall of 2011, Glenn first heard about a man named Tim Ballard who was working on a book that delved into this very topic.
I hear about somebody who's working on the Covenant, the founding fathers, I hear about this. Separately. We get a phone call, Pat gets a phone call from somebody who knows you.
You being Tim Ballard.
And says Pat, you guys have got to get together with Tim Ballard because you won't believe what he's found. It's exactly the same thing.
Ballard had apparently found evidence that the founding fathers knew that they were tapping into the power of a covenant with God.
This is not your field of expertise. This isn't really even what you were setting out to do when you were going to write a book, right?
That's right.
What was your goal when you started to write this book, or when you started to do the research? what were you doing?
My background is in kind of the foreign policy apparatus I work for the United States Government. I do a lot of work overseas, and I was fascinated by the power for good that the United States is. I work in child exploitation.
And I get to witness the greatness of this nation and liberating the oppressed overseas and abroad.
Glenn Beck and Tim Ballard had obviously made a connection through their faith and its connection to the founding of America, and Ballard was clearly a natural. In front of the camera, he was a good-looking, blonde-haired, blue-eyed guy in his mid-30s, and perhaps even more noteworthy, he had a knack for storytelling. After his appearance, his book reportedly shot to number one in a few of Amazon's categories.
Tim Ballard was on his way. By the end of 2012, Ballard published another book, this one explored President Lincoln during the civil War through the lens of America's biblical roots. Ballard was for the first time as an author broaching the topic of slavery in a significant way. And it must have been around this time that an idea was sparked.
An idea that Tim Ballard would eventually take to Hollywood.

Welcome back to red pilled America. So, around the end of 2012, Tim Ballard published the book The Covenant, Lincoln and the War. It was his second outing as a so-called American historian. And this time, the foreword for his book was written by a man named Gerald R. Mullen. Maybe that name doesn't ring a bell, but in Hollywood, Gerald Mullen is a legend.
His producing credits include Rain Man, Days of Thunder, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Minority Report, and many others. Mr. Mullen is an Oscar-winning film producer, and like Glennon Ballard, he's also a mormon. Getting Mr. Mullen to write the foreword to his book signaled one thing.
Tim Ballard was going to Hollywood and he appeared to be using his religious ties to do so. This must have been around the time that Ballard came up with his idea to effectively create a film production company whose primary content was the rescue of child sex slaves. Again, Lynn Packer.
Now, it's important to understand that. When Our was first formed, it was formed as a movie-making venture, either movies or television series. And they began trying to market their concept down there in Hollywood at the beginning.
In August 2013, the website operationundergroundrailroad.
Org was registered when it launched. The front page featured what's known in the film business as a sizzle reel, or a video used to sell a film idea. The video was narrated by a filmmaker named Darren Fletcher. Darren is also a mormon.
About a year ago, we were working on a project together and we were introduced to this guy who was an amazing author. And we instantly snapped him up and made him our historical consultant on the project.
That consultant was Tim Ballard. Darren went on to explain that after working with Ballard on a project, Ballard shared some information with him that he'd apparently been keeping close to his chest.
And after working with him for a little while, he told us what he really did for a living, which, uh, writing was just his mild-mannered day job. What he really was trained to do was to rescue children from the child sex slave tourism industry.
Ballard was reframing himself as a kind of real-life Clark Kent, an author who secretly worked as a slave liberator.
We're not talking about prostitution here.
These are children.
We knew right then and there that whatever we were going to do next.
Was going to involve saving kids.
And this is how we're going to do it.
Gerald Mullen, Chet Thomas and myself are going to make a television series.
We've assembled a team, a jump team.
Tim Ballard had teamed up with these filmmakers to pitch Hollywood on a reality series. One that featured a rogue team of vigilante heroes that saved children from sex slavery. Commando style again Lynn Packer.
The original concept is that the jump team members, that's what they called them, would go into foreign countries and they themselves would rescue the kids. It wouldn't just be acting like that. They were child sex tourists, but they were actually the law enforcement. And so there was an arm of Operation Underground Railroad that acquired weapons, assault weapons and was conducting training for the operatives, who were mostly like army rangers and special forces and such.
We find children that have been kidnapped, used for sexual slaves, and we go get them.
And we take them to a better life. I'm telling you, we are the people that do that.
We can go in there and extract these kids.
The video showed what looked like tactically armed American mercenaries training for an extraction. I've broken up slavery rings.
I've seen what it's done to people.
These children deserve better.
Oddly, the film didn't include Tim Ballard, or, for that matter, it didn't even mention his name. But it did feature a man whose face was concealed and his identity was labeled as classified. The guy's silhouette looked a lot like Ballard, and they called him an ex-CIA agent. The whole thing had a cloak-and-dagger vibe.
Through this series, we will shine a light so bright on the evils of sex slavery. That the monsters, fully exposed to the public eye, won't be able to continue doing business as usual. Then Fletcher introduced alleged child sex trafficking survivors, but their faces were concealed. Our jump team will take this bright light into the darkest corners of the earth and will liberate these children while dismantling their captors. We will then take these liberated kids to a place they can be cared for. There are literally hundreds of places.
Everywhere.
Waiting with open arms.
To take care of these kids, we can do this.
I want to go to college and be an English teacher.
In the end.
These kids are the heroes. No one's funding this series.
But everyone ought to, so join the abolitionists and be a part of our jump team.
The sizzle reel was well shot and compelling. It featured a Mexican politician who expressed horror over the child slaves being sold right in front of everyone's eyes. It had the alleged child victims pulling at the heart strings. And it looked like it had the potential of being a hit reality series like Cops. But the problem was Hollywood wasn't biting.
Their television series proposal was not being picked up right away.
And that's perhaps because Hollywood could see the liability associated with rogue gun-toting American mercenaries dropping into foreign countries to rescue children.
Obviously, no foreign government's going to let them come down there and act as pure vigilantes. Nobody picked it up, but at least that's what they were attempting.
So Ballard turned to someone else, he turned to the man that helped him sell his first book.
And he said, Glenn, I had an idea, and he said, it's an expensive idea.
Perhaps Ballard viewed Glenn's streaming platform as a TV studio because in 2013, Ballard made the same pitch to Glenn as he did in the Hollywood Sizzle reel. His mercenary jump team would work with local governments to break up sex trafficking rings, put the traffickers behind bars for a long time and save the children from a life of sex slavery. And all while filming it to make a reality TV show that would pay for the operations.
And he said, if you don't raise the money in an ongoing way, it won't work because it's expensive to do well. He told me that he had gone and met with a television network, and the television network said, Well, can you save the children and give us a good show? And they said he was a little taken aback by that, and he said, yes.
He said, In fact, I could walk out right now and I could show you where I could save 17 children right now. And they said, Well, now hang on. What is the story of those children? And he said, What do you mean? what is the story? They're in sex slavery here in your city.
And they said, Well, yes, but the numbers are the numbers. What we care about is the story, so we would rather have you rescue one child if it's a better story than 17 children. That's when my friend picked up all of his stuff and walked out of the meeting, he came to me.
Now, while Ballard was making his pitch, Glenn happened to have an attorney friend present at the meeting. When this attorney caught wind of what Ballard was proposing, he advised Glenn not to get involved.
And he said, Glenn, you can't do any of this, you can't be involved in any of this, he said. The legal ramifications. And I said, no, but we wouldn't do it unless the government was involved and everything else, he said. But something could go wrong. And then your blame.
And I said, Good God Almighty, would you please stop? What do you mean? Something could go wrong? How about something could go right? something could go right?
Is there anything more important than this? is there can you think of anything more important than saving one child from sex slavery? One, can you imagine the blessings in heaven for your participation in being an abolitionist?
Glenn was apparently deeply moved by Ballard's tale, and frankly, it's not hard to understand why. Here was a guy who'd claimed to be working undercover as a child sex slave liberator, he'd claimed to be a former college professor. He was a successful author, a man of faith, a man whose entire team was of Glenn's faith tradition, and one was an Oscar award winning legend. Ballard had allegedly been saving kids from sex slavery for almost a decade, some as young as five years old. And he knew where more were being held. All he needed was the resources to save them.
Glenn Beck was sold on Ballard's story.
I have a letter from an abolitionist, a quaker in the 1700s, who was buying slaves to set them free. And that's what this guy's going to do, he's going to buy them to set them free. And then, because he has connections with all of the law enforcement, he will then make sure those dirt bags are not around to sell more children.
Glenn said Ballard asked him for $5 million.
I said to him, I don't have that kind of money.
But Glenn did have something else a very powerful platform that spoke to a generous, God-fearing audience that could help save these children.
So, in a November 2013 radio broadcast, Glenn Beck introduced Tim Ballard's new organization to the world.
I would like to introduce you to a website.
Called OperationUndergroundRailroad.
Org. And I would like you to bring this to your churches, and I would like you to inform yourself and others as many as you can. I'd like you to put this on your Facebook and I'd like you to tweet this. Millstone around people's necks that are involved in this. And I think great and powerful blessings to anybody who can help free these children, but we need your tax-free dollars.
Now I want you to know this is not something that I am doing, this is something that I truly believe in.
It was a compelling pitch, and it apparently resonated with Glenn's audience because the web traffic reportedly crashed Our's servers.
So just if you can't get on right now, yeah, just yeah, just dump me off. If you can't get on right now, it's probably getting hit too hard. And, you know, try again later. But don't forget, please don't forget, it's really, really important.
Please don't forget, we have jump teams that are ready to go and rescue these children. I would suggest that we become the modern-day abolitionists, I would suggest that that's who we are, that's who I am.
OperationUndergroundRailroad.
Org. It is officially open today. So anyone who might be listening to this program, that is into this business, into this kind of perversion. We are coming for you, for anyone, God help them that might be listening who is trapped in this. No, we are coming for you as well.
The promotion reportedly raised over a million dollars. It was a smashing success. But stunningly, as the donations were rolling in, Tim Ballard claimed to have cold feet. Apparently he was ready to stop before he even got started.

To launch Operation Underground Railroad, Tim Ballard turned to Glenn Beck to help raise the seed money. The November 2013 promotion was a smashing success. Over a million dollars reportedly poured in. But just as the donations arrived, Tim Ballard claims he got cold feet. He was still having reservations about quitting his job.
In his telling, he was risking everything a cushy, secure government job with a salary and pension that would make him a rich man.
My accountant came to me and showed me how many millions of dollars this would amount to, that I was walking away from. It was ridiculous. I want to say $12 million or something, a number I couldn't even fathom. You're walking away from that.
And that really tossed me.
Who knew an ice agent could bring in that kind of moolah? Well, when he brought the dilemma to his wife Catherine, just a few days before he was supposed to quit, Ballard says Catherine didn't flinch.
She said to me, I will not let you jeopardize my salvation by not doing this. And when she said those words, and I knew she meant those words, that changed everything for me. And we jumped into really just an irrational act of service, I might call it.
Less than six months later, Glenn Beck helped Tim Ballard raise money again.
Not long ago, a horrific video of a five-year-old boy being sexually abused in the worst way was discovered by U.
S authorities, the boy was five and his 12-year-old sister. They had been kidnapped and they had been trafficked back and forth between the U.S and Mexico.
Both were sex slaves to a monster of a man. Well, something happened. Divine Providence stepped in, and it took place at the U.S..-Mexico border. The boy was seen by a U.S.
Official who knew who he was identified the boy in the video and the boy was rescued from the monster. The monster is going to spend the rest of his life in prison. But a friend of mine, who I didn't know what he did for a living, he had a whole front story.
I had no idea. He told me one day I need to meet with you, and so I met with him and he told me what he really did. He is an undercover operative who infiltrates and dismantles child trafficking rings. He was one of the first on the scenes with that five-year-old boy.
That little boy jumped into the arms of my friend, who tearfully held him, told him he was safe. The kid would not let go, fearful that he's going to fall back into the dark hands of that monster again. It took a while, but after he realized he was safe, he gave my friend a gift. It's a gift of a necklace, it's this necklace.
Glenn held up a dog tag necklace he had around his neck.
It reads Man of God, pursue Godliness, faith and love. That necklace meant everything to the child. It represented his only hope. It was given to him by his sister, his last prayer. His older sister gave it to him and said, Wear it and pray that God will rescue us.
Their united prayer was answered at last.
This is the version of the dog tag story that we've come to know today.
Now we should pause here for a moment and say that. When we discovered Glenn Beck's intimate involvement in the launch of Operation Underground Railroad, it made us uncomfortable. When we publicly committed to performing a deep dive into Tim Ballard's origin story, we didn't know that Ballard had credited Glenn on multiple occasions with helping launch Operation Underground Railroad.
Glenn Beck is who I would credit. When I left the government, I had no money and I had been on Glenn Beck's show for a different reason. For a book that I wrote that I think 12 people bought, but somehow it ended up on Glenn Beck with Glenn. So I hit him up and I said, Glenn, this is crazy.
Maybe you remember me, Maybe you don't. I've got to rescue kids. And he responded. His lawyer said, You're crazy.
Stay away from this guy, he's nuts. And he did it. He opened the spigots up and allowed us to do those operations. That covered the entire first year, including the big operation that's depicted in the film.
This became a bit of a dilemma for us. We respected Glenn Beck. we still do. He helped us break our very first national story back in 2009. He was also the first major media personality to promote Red Pill to America.
We've produced a two-part documentary on his pioneering launch of the Blaze streaming platform, and he's had Patrick on his show on multiple occasions throughout the years. So when our Tim Ballard research crossed paths with a man who helped us in our journey, we paused. Because we weren't sure how to broach this inconvenient truth. Then we remembered a phrase that Glenn had often used throughout the years.
Question with boldness even the very existence of God.
If we can't pursue the truth, even if it may hurt us, we could no longer fulfill the promise we made to our audience, so we pressed on. Then, on October 2nd, 2023, Glenn began to address some of the accusations against Tim Ballard. A handful of alleged former women colleagues had accused Ballard of sexual misconduct while he was at our Lim, Packer and Vice News had been breaking stories on the accusations.
Ballard was allegedly forced out of Our because of these accusations. And apparently, some of the women accusers reached out to Glenn wanting to tell their side of the story on its program.
If, if, if. If it's true, I can't believe how many of us were duped, but that's if it's true and I don't know how I'm going to judge that.
He said he felt that it would be better if one of his investigative journalists looked at the allegations instead.
I don't know what they've done, but I've passed the women's number on to Leon Wolfe, our news director, and said, Put a journalist on this if you want. And I told him at the time, take it where it leads. I have no dogs in this fight. And I said, if it leads to anything and you're like, I don't know how Glenn's going to feel, don't worry about it. I just want the truth.
I just want the truth.
The fact that he began to deal with the growing issues around Ballard was promising. So we reached out to his camp and forwarded some of our findings on the dog tag moment and basically stated that. Through our research, we concluded that Tim Ballard either fabricated his famous dog tag story or he lied in a federal court case. Glenn promptly responded to our message, stating Quote.
If your journalistic work is the final word on this, this is the first and most manipulative lie, he told me. I don't know what's true, but I hope your findings are not my intentions. And those of the thousands in my audience who have generously contributed to our were to help save God's children from the scourge of human trafficking. May the Lord heal this mess so that this important work can continue.
That same day, Glenn expanded on his desire to search for the truth about Tim Ballard.
And the reason I feel passionately about this, to find the truth and tell you, is because this one affects me deeply. And there is no way I can be on the air and point a finger and say Justice, where is justice? Where are the people in their own party? where are the people in the news media? You know why they don't report that?
Because they're all involved, or they're all friends with each other, and they won't stab each other in the back. Truth is truth, and if it means I have to say things I don't want to about somebody I consider a friend, so be it.
Truth is all we have.
We sensed a feeling of betrayal in Glenn's voice, and it wasn't hard to see why he sold Tim Ballard's cause hard.
The goal is really simple rescue children from hell. You will not believe how big this problem is and nobody wants to talk about it. The Jump team knows where these guys are, they know how to take them down legally and with government authorities.
But without the Jump team, there is no plan in place to dismantle these sex rings. The Jump team has communicated already with these dark people in an undercover capacity, and they are ready and willing to take them down right now and rescue children. But they need your help, they need support right now, they need us to send them out on their mission.
They need your tax-deductible dollars.
The promotion, by all accounts, was another major success.
It gave Ballard the resources necessary to orchestrate several operations that became the crown jewels of his organization, one in Haiti.
In December 2013, when the first money started rolling in, it was like, Oh my gosh, I actually have to quit my job now. Because we started raising money and there were real operations pending. The intel on the Haiti OP, for example, was already in. We were ready to roll on it.
And that early, our donor money went to another operation in Colombia. Throughout 2014, Ballard and his jump team worked in both of these countries, allegedly searching for child sex slaves to rescue. And in October 2014, they appeared to rack up a big win in Colombia.
Last weekend.
Police broke up.
A major sex trafficking ring in Colombia.
Which has become a destination for tourists looking for sex with boys and girls. The police had help from an American.
Who went undercover to rescue the children?
Right before I got in the boat, we had to walk by this room where the kids were, and they put their hand up and I touched their hand.
And see that there's liberation now.
Liberating one child.
At a time.
Elaine Quijano.
CBS News New York But like many of Tim Ballard's stories, the CBS segment was riddled with fake news. And this Colombia operation would fully expose how Tim Ballard had been able to put on a show to extract hundreds of millions from well-meaning donors.
Coming up on Red pilled America.
Angel Studios knew about problems with Ballard, an operation underground railroad, and yet decided we're going to roll the dice.
