So there's conversations you've had since our conversation

00:02:57.40 – 00:03:02.12

that I want to clear up, but also with regard to criticism,

00:03:03.36 – 00:03:06.36

the idea that it's not that any criticism of Israel

00:03:06.36 – 00:03:09.34

is being labeled as anti-Semitic,

00:03:09.42 – 00:03:12.70

but the point is that there's a lot of disproportionate

00:03:12.70 – 00:03:14.82

criticism, the singling out the double standard

00:03:14.82 – 00:03:16.52

that Israel's being subjected to.

00:03:16.80 – 00:03:18.66

That is grounds for that, I do believe.

00:03:18.76 – 00:03:21.68

And I think that there is a catch-22 that happens

00:03:21.68 – 00:03:25.46

in the anti-Semitism game where someone can make

00:03:25.46 – 00:03:27.90

an incendiary comment, an anti-Semitic remark,

00:03:28.28 – 00:03:30.24

and then the Jewish community calls it out

00:03:30.24 – 00:03:32.50

and they say, well, you see, Jews are trying to control me.

00:03:32.68 – 00:03:33.96

You see, they're trying to control the speech.

00:03:34.30 – 00:03:37.00

And so it almost becomes an impossible task

00:03:37.00 – 00:03:38.54

to combat effectively.

00:03:38.74 – 00:03:40.02

And I said this in our last conversation

00:03:40.02 – 00:03:43.20

that to call things that are not anti-Semitic anti-Semitic

00:03:43.20 – 00:03:44.66

is incredibly unproductive and wrong.

00:03:44.74 – 00:03:46.68

And it's almost like a cry wolf scenario.

00:03:46.68 – 00:03:48.62

But when we do see things that are anti-Semitic

00:03:48.62 – 00:03:50.56

and we call it out or problematic comments

00:03:50.56 – 00:03:53.78

that embolden anti-Semitism, a catch-22 forms

00:03:53.78 – 00:03:55.62

where I've seen it all over Twitter too,

00:03:55.68 – 00:03:57.64

where people say disgusting things about Jews,

00:03:57.98 – 00:03:59.98

they couch it sometimes in criticism of Israel.

00:04:00.36 – 00:04:02.74

And no one can deny that there's a lot of anti-Semites

00:04:02.74 – 00:04:05.62

that disguise themselves in anti-Zionist rhetoric.

00:04:06.04 – 00:04:07.10

And they say these things.

00:04:07.20 – 00:04:08.64

And then when the Jewish community calls it out,

00:04:08.68 – 00:04:09.98

because they say these Jews are trying to control

00:04:09.98 – 00:04:12.00

our narrative, control our speech, then we call it out.

00:04:12.06 – 00:04:13.24

They say, you see, you see, you see,

00:04:13.26 – 00:04:14.74

and then proceed to double down.

00:04:14.80 – 00:04:16.26

And it just continues to spiral.

00:04:16.40 – 00:04:19.50

So it leaves the voices who wanna speak out productively

00:04:19.50 – 00:04:21.62

and constructively about this fairly stuck.

00:04:22.26 – 00:04:24.12

And in a world post October 7th,

00:04:24.12 – 00:04:26.98

when we see a rise of anti-Semitic incidences,

00:04:27.30 – 00:04:29.06

00:04:29.58 – 00:04:31.42

and then you see a rise of anti-Semitism,

00:04:48.20 – 00:04:50.66

I think rhetoric that contributes to that,

00:04:50.74 – 00:04:52.36

we need to be able to, you know,

like I see a lot of Jew hating stuff on Twitter,

00:05:17.60 – 00:05:20.66

00:05:20.84 – 00:05:22.60

00:05:22.92 – 00:05:24.38

Like you make a fair point there.

00:05:24.42 – 00:05:25.36

It's like, you know, I've heard,

00:05:25.44 – 00:05:27.86

there was one thing that I got tagged in

00:05:27.86 – 00:05:29.14

where it was like, you know,

00:05:29.16 – 00:05:31.26

like a whole list of like political commentators

00:05:31.26 – 00:05:34.54

with the star of David, you know, behind it.

00:05:34.68 – 00:05:36.50

And it was like, first off, they just got a bunch wrong.

00:05:36.64 – 00:05:38.00

Like a bunch of people who just aren't Jewish

00:05:38.00 – 00:05:38.78

oh, okay, so if I was pro-Israel,

00:05:56.56 – 00:05:58.28

that's proof that there's a Jewish conspiracy.

If I'm critical of Israel,

00:06:00.26 – 00:06:02.32

that's also proof that there's a Jewish conspiracy.

00:06:02.58 – 00:06:05.32

00:06:52.08 – 00:06:53.92

bends over backward to be like,

00:06:56.56 – 00:06:58.58

hey, I am not talking about Jews here.

00:06:58.68 – 00:07:00.24

I have nothing but love for Jewish people.

00:07:00.30 – 00:07:01.56

I've grown up around Jewish people.

00:07:01.86 – 00:07:03.56

I see, that's what I see for the most part,

00:07:03.80 – 00:07:07.36

that people that then still just get called anti-Semitic.

00:07:07.36 – 00:07:09.50

And so, you know, I do,

00:07:09.70 – 00:07:11.48

where I would probably disagree a little bit,

00:07:11.68 – 00:07:14.76

is that I think the idea that if you are critical,

00:07:15.10 – 00:07:17.66

I mean, look, Douglas Murray just had a debate

00:07:17.66 – 00:07:18.68

at the Monk debate the other day.

00:07:18.86 – 00:07:21.44

His argument is that being anti-Zionist

00:07:21.44 – 00:07:22.88

is being anti-Semitic.

00:07:23.08 – 00:07:26.28

And it's remarkable to watch people like Douglas Murray

00:07:27.12 – 00:07:29.86

just become woke leftists when they talk,

00:07:29.94 – 00:07:32.94

well, anti-Semitism is a shape-shifting virus.

00:07:33.24 – 00:07:35.34

And if you say anything critical of Israel now,

00:07:35.34 – 00:07:39.16

you now own the entire history of hating Jewish people

00:07:39.16 – 00:07:39.98

or something like that.

00:07:40.20 – 00:07:44.60

The truth is that there definitely is more criticism

00:07:44.60 – 00:07:49.66

of Israel than there are of other governments,

00:07:50.22 – 00:07:50.78

other countries.

1Speaker 1
00:07:51.00 – 00:07:53.30

Far worse governments too, I would say.

3Speaker 3
00:07:53.36 – 00:07:55.42

Yeah, but there's also, perhaps,

00:07:56.08 – 00:07:58.70

there's also a lot of reasons why that's the case

00:07:58.70 – 00:08:00.90

other than the fact that it's a Jewish state.

00:08:01.32 – 00:08:03.78

And we could get into what all of those are,

00:08:03.78 – 00:08:06.10

but you could talk about worst governments.

00:08:06.86 – 00:08:09.96

There is something very unique about the relationship

00:08:09.96 – 00:08:12.02

between the United States of America and Israel

00:08:12.02 – 00:08:13.92

as it pertains to our foreign policy,

00:08:14.20 – 00:08:16.02

particularly over the last 20 years,

00:08:16.20 – 00:08:19.38

which has been catastrophic for not just our nation,

00:08:19.48 – 00:08:20.88

but every nation involved.

00:08:21.48 – 00:08:24.50

There's also something different about a war,

00:08:24.64 – 00:08:26.98

which I hesitate to even use the word at times,

00:08:27.00 – 00:08:29.38

because I'm not sure that's the correct word

00:08:29.38 – 00:08:31.08

for what we've seen over the last eight months.

00:08:31.08 – 00:08:34.44

There's, I don't know if I can think of another example

00:08:34.44 – 00:08:36.14

around the world, again, correct me if I'm wrong,

00:08:36.50 – 00:08:42.34

where a captive, permanently stateless refugee group

00:08:42.34 – 00:08:46.56

of people are just being just mass slaughtered.

00:08:46.84 – 00:08:49.32

A group of people who do not have a military of their own,

00:08:49.50 – 00:08:50.88

do not have a government of their own,

00:08:51.00 – 00:08:53.74

are completely captive and have been ruled by Israel

00:08:53.74 – 00:08:58.42

since 1967, that's also unique.

00:08:58.42 – 00:09:01.08

And so I think there's a lot at work here.

00:09:01.38 – 00:09:03.68

I'm not gonna argue that people hating Jews

00:09:03.68 – 00:09:06.54

is not an element at all amongst anyone,

00:09:07.18 – 00:09:08.64

but at the same time, it's like,

00:09:08.74 – 00:09:12.50

if you are for border restrictions,

00:09:12.88 – 00:09:16.04

you might attract some people who don't much like Mexicans.

00:09:16.36 – 00:09:18.04

And if you're for DEI,

00:09:18.28 – 00:09:19.34

you're gonna attract some people

00:09:19.34 – 00:09:20.82

who don't much like white people.

00:09:20.98 – 00:09:22.46

And if you're critical of Israel,

00:09:22.58 – 00:09:24.24

you also probably will attract some people

00:09:24.24 – 00:09:25.14

who don't like Jews.

00:09:25.66 – 00:09:27.32

All of this to me is kind of irrelevant

00:09:27.32 – 00:09:31.92

to the real question, which is what Israel is doing to Gaza

00:09:31.92 – 00:09:33.20

over the last eight months

00:09:33.20 – 00:09:35.58

and whether or not this is acceptable,

00:09:36.08 – 00:09:37.98

whether or not we should be funding

00:09:37.98 – 00:09:39.28

and arming this conflict.

2Speaker 2
00:09:40.20 – 00:09:41.64

That's a great, great question.

00:09:41.84 – 00:09:43.74

And I would love to hear Ami's response to it.

00:09:43.78 – 00:09:45.18

You know, when you and I first spoke,

00:09:45.34 – 00:09:47.58

Ami, it was only a few weeks, I think, after October 7th.

00:09:47.58 – 00:09:49.46

And I think that we had a really great discussion.

00:09:49.64 – 00:09:51.32

Somehow I was still called anti-Semitic after it.

00:09:51.34 – 00:09:51.96

And I was going,

00:09:52.24 – 00:09:53.98

I thought that was such a productive discussion.

00:09:54.12 – 00:09:56.08

I learned so much and I thought it was good

00:09:56.08 – 00:09:57.16

and healthy for people to hear.

1Speaker 1
00:09:57.32 – 00:09:58.78

I was called a lot of things in the comments too,

00:09:58.86 – 00:09:59.40

but fair enough.

2Speaker 2
00:10:00.00 – 00:10:00.34

Yeah, yeah.

00:10:00.42 – 00:10:01.26

They just sort of like,

00:10:01.30 – 00:10:03.08

I thought it did both of us a disservice.

00:10:03.26 – 00:10:04.96

I was very proud of the discussion

00:10:04.96 – 00:10:06.58

because I was coming from it in very good faith

00:10:06.58 – 00:10:07.72

and I know that you were as well.

00:10:08.16 – 00:10:10.50

And so I think that much has changed, I think.

00:10:10.84 – 00:10:12.06

People were floating around.

00:10:12.34 – 00:10:12.80

Was it genocide?

00:10:13.10 – 00:10:14.16

I don't think that matters.

00:10:14.28 – 00:10:15.92

You don't need to get hung up on the verbiage.

00:10:16.50 – 00:10:19.24

Do you believe that the response

00:10:19.78 – 00:10:23.98

to the October 7th attacks has been equal,

00:10:23.98 – 00:10:26.36

overboard, and also,

00:10:26.52 – 00:10:30.74

what would you say is an equal or an overboard response?

1Speaker 1
00:10:30.96 – 00:10:32.52

Well, first of all, Dave, I know I'll just say,

00:10:32.62 – 00:10:34.16

I know you wanted to debate Douglas Murray,

00:10:34.28 – 00:10:35.14

but here you have him.

00:10:35.18 – 00:10:36.78

It's the next best thing, okay?

00:10:37.02 – 00:10:39.26

Everything Dave said is utter nonsense.

00:10:39.76 – 00:10:41.94

From the get go, people of your ilk.

00:10:42.24 – 00:10:42.56

But anyway,

00:10:43.80 – 00:10:44.74

you know, this is what happens

00:10:44.74 – 00:10:46.84

when you get two comedians out to talk serious as well.

00:10:47.06 – 00:10:48.44

Yeah, for you, maybe.

00:10:48.68 – 00:10:51.84

Anyway, I'm a huge Douglas Murray fan

00:10:51.84 – 00:10:52.86

and I think he did an awesome job.

00:10:52.86 – 00:10:54.14

But for the record, I'll just say this.

00:10:54.72 – 00:10:56.46

A couple of things just to what Dave said

00:10:56.46 – 00:10:57.80

and then I'll address your question, Candace,

00:10:57.86 – 00:11:00.84

because I think, Dave, would you concede that this,

00:11:01.30 – 00:11:02.36

you know, you don't like the word war.

00:11:02.54 – 00:11:03.76

I don't like the word conflict

00:11:03.76 – 00:11:06.32

because I think there's a fundamental flaw

00:11:06.32 – 00:11:09.66

in presuming that Israel and its enemies are,

00:11:09.86 – 00:11:11.46

and I'm using this word carefully,

00:11:11.66 – 00:11:13.30

moral equals in the sense,

00:11:13.38 – 00:11:15.54

in terms of the values that Israel tries to uphold,

00:11:15.66 – 00:11:16.88

the state it tries to create,

00:11:16.96 – 00:11:18.62

which confuses me about your position

00:11:18.62 – 00:11:19.84

in the sense that you're someone

00:11:19.84 – 00:11:21.82

who's always fighting for individual rights

00:11:21.82 – 00:11:23.54

and sovereignty and that these governments,

00:11:23.68 – 00:11:25.62

the whole purpose of government in and of itself

00:11:25.62 – 00:11:29.76

is to protect those rights to the best of its ability.

00:11:29.90 – 00:11:31.52

That's what its primary function is

00:11:31.52 – 00:11:34.24

and to the extent to the degree to which Israel does that

00:11:34.24 – 00:11:36.96

better than any other area in the region,

00:11:37.10 – 00:11:39.70

I would think that at least morally, sympathetically,

00:11:41.58 – 00:11:43.42

your solidarity or whatever you want to call it,

00:11:43.44 – 00:11:44.84

your advocacy, your opinion on this

00:11:44.84 – 00:11:47.92

would lie more so with what Israel has to go through

00:11:47.92 – 00:11:49.12

because it's fighting regimes

00:11:49.12 – 00:11:51.80

that do not share any of those values at all.

00:11:51.80 – 00:11:53.14

Any of our values that are here today

00:11:53.14 – 00:11:55.14

in terms of tolerance, individual rights,

00:11:55.22 – 00:11:56.22

these kinds of things that Israel,

00:11:57.34 – 00:11:59.70

although it's imperfect, is a Western democracy.

00:11:59.86 – 00:12:03.48

So it always shocks me when I see people

00:12:03.48 – 00:12:05.22

who are principled in your position

00:12:05.22 – 00:12:07.08

not see that or side with that.

00:12:07.18 – 00:12:09.70

And I know you haven't fully condemned Israel fully,

00:12:09.82 – 00:12:11.60

but like, and I've seen other interviews

00:12:11.60 – 00:12:13.30

where you do defend what Israel's,

00:12:13.58 – 00:12:14.60

well, you know, the virtues of Israel,

00:12:14.64 – 00:12:17.40

but at the same time, I always find that very surprising

00:12:17.40 – 00:12:18.86

because the values that you uphold

00:12:18.86 – 00:12:21.18

and say are fighting for on behalf of the Palestinians,

00:12:21.88 – 00:12:24.02

it doesn't seem to me that they're regimes

00:12:24.02 – 00:12:25.34

that represent them and a lot of people

00:12:25.34 – 00:12:27.56

in those populations don't uphold those values themselves

00:12:27.56 – 00:12:28.64

or those desires themselves.

00:12:28.94 – 00:12:30.86

So seeing it through a Western American lens,

00:12:31.32 – 00:12:32.68

you know, there's a hierarchy of values here

00:12:32.68 – 00:12:36.66

and it seems that the real motivating factor in this war

00:12:36.66 – 00:12:38.84

is it's not a geographical or political dispute

00:12:38.84 – 00:12:41.06

or a conflict that presumes two sides

00:12:41.06 – 00:12:42.54

are fighting as moral equals,

00:12:42.70 – 00:12:44.28

but rather an ideological one

00:12:44.28 – 00:12:47.62

in which Israel is fighting regimes that are genocidal

00:12:47.62 – 00:12:49.00

that wish to see its destruction

00:12:49.00 – 00:12:50.82

because it's a Jewish state,

00:12:51.22 – 00:12:54.20

because of not just it as a Jewish state,

00:12:54.24 – 00:12:54.94

but Jews worldwide,

00:12:55.04 – 00:12:56.66

and they've been very explicit about that.

00:12:56.98 – 00:12:59.00

So it confuses me that we impose this idea

00:12:59.00 – 00:13:01.18

that everybody just wants the same thing

00:13:01.18 – 00:13:02.50

and we have to just work this out,

00:13:02.62 – 00:13:04.50

you know, as a geographical dispute

00:13:04.50 – 00:13:06.06

with all that messy history.

00:13:06.20 – 00:13:07.90

What's always seemed to me been animating this

00:13:07.90 – 00:13:10.58

before any occupation of any territory even existed

00:13:10.58 – 00:13:13.42

was a deep seated hatred for Jews,

00:13:13.50 – 00:13:14.76

the Jewish people and the Jewish state.

00:13:14.80 – 00:13:17.10

So even if people critical of Israel aren't anti-Jewish,

00:13:17.10 – 00:13:19.60

the people Israel's directly fighting certainly are.

2Speaker 2
00:13:21.48 – 00:13:23.02

Okay, that is interesting.

00:13:23.16 – 00:13:25.00

So I only wanna say that because I did have,

00:13:25.02 – 00:13:25.86

and I'm interjecting here,

00:13:26.38 – 00:13:28.52

I did have a conversation with someone

00:13:30.16 – 00:13:33.88

whose parents were forced out in, I wanna say 1945,

00:13:34.14 – 00:13:35.00

is that the correct year?

00:13:35.06 – 00:13:35.72

48, yeah.

00:13:35.72 – 00:13:37.16

And it definitely,

00:13:38.16 – 00:13:42.38

I don't think every person that has an issue with Israel

00:13:42.38 – 00:13:45.64

is being guided necessarily by this idea

00:13:45.64 – 00:13:46.60

that it's just Jewish people.

00:13:46.60 – 00:13:48.50

I mean, some of these people were actually living there

00:13:48.50 – 00:13:52.00

and had accepted Jewish refugees into their home.

00:13:52.20 – 00:13:54.80

One Palestinian is coming to mind, Mohammed Hadid,

00:13:56.62 – 00:13:58.78

who they were allowing these refugees

00:13:58.78 – 00:13:59.84

to live there for two years.

00:14:00.00 – 00:14:01.28

They went out one day, came back

00:14:01.28 – 00:14:02.62

and the locks were changed.

00:14:02.68 – 00:14:03.92

And they said, this is, again,

00:14:03.96 – 00:14:05.74

I'm telling you what Mohammed Hadid told me,

00:14:05.92 – 00:14:07.40

you're not allowed to come back here.

00:14:07.50 – 00:14:08.50

Your home is being taken over.

00:14:08.60 – 00:14:10.18

If you come back, they will shoot you and kill you.

00:14:10.58 – 00:14:12.26

So I think some people are being motivated

00:14:12.26 – 00:14:16.30

by what they perceive to be the historical injustice.

00:14:16.30 – 00:14:18.76

Do you think that that's a fair assessment

00:14:18.76 – 00:14:20.84

to say that some people aren't just looking at this

00:14:20.84 – 00:14:21.56

as these are the Jews,

00:14:21.70 – 00:14:22.72

they're looking at this as these are people

00:14:22.72 – 00:14:25.28

who took our homeland and it's not fair?

00:14:26.54 – 00:14:27.96

Or do you think it has changed over the years?

1Speaker 1
00:14:28.10 – 00:14:30.16

I think what's always fundamentally,

00:14:30.40 – 00:14:31.58

not like there are marginal issues

00:14:31.58 – 00:14:32.52

and there are fundamental issues.

00:14:32.58 – 00:14:34.36

And I'm not denying that innocent Palestinians

00:14:34.36 – 00:14:35.98

suffered as a result of all this.

00:14:36.04 – 00:14:39.64

And I think you could play a suffering Olympics all day long

00:14:39.64 – 00:14:42.24

and keep going back and keep playing this game all day over

00:14:42.24 – 00:14:44.58

who atrocities that have been committed

00:14:44.58 – 00:14:45.80

across the board throughout history.

00:14:45.80 – 00:14:47.42

That's not unique to the foundations

00:14:47.42 – 00:14:48.56

and formings of any state.

00:14:48.64 – 00:14:54.74

But I think that as far as what's fundamental here

00:14:54.74 – 00:14:57.20

is not that there's this thirst and desire

00:14:57.20 – 00:14:58.78

to create a Palestinian state,

00:14:58.88 – 00:15:00.96

but rather to destroy the Jewish one.

2Speaker 2
00:15:02.58 – 00:15:03.16

Dave?

3Speaker 3
00:15:03.44 – 00:15:06.48

Okay, let me address a bunch of that stuff.

00:15:06.74 – 00:15:10.76

So I think, look, when you say,

00:15:11.00 – 00:15:14.56

okay, so like I'm a libertarian and I believe in freedom

00:15:14.56 – 00:15:16.78

and government should, if it exists at all,

00:15:16.86 – 00:15:21.08

only be there to protect property and natural rights.

00:15:21.54 – 00:15:25.34

So look, if you were to say,

00:15:25.60 – 00:15:29.38

like let's compare the United States of America

00:15:29.96 – 00:15:31.76

to Saddam Hussein's Iraq,

00:15:32.74 – 00:15:34.64

which society would I rather live in?

00:15:34.80 – 00:15:36.92

Which society do I think is more moral?

00:15:37.14 – 00:15:39.40

Which government was less oppressive?

00:15:40.04 – 00:15:43.44

Okay, obviously the answer is the United States of America.

00:15:44.12 – 00:15:45.66

But, or at least to its own people.

00:15:46.20 – 00:15:48.80

We're probably a lot more oppressive to other countries.

00:15:49.00 – 00:15:51.32

But that's totally irrelevant

00:15:51.32 – 00:15:52.88

to whether I'd have solidarity

00:15:52.88 – 00:15:54.92

with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

00:15:55.10 – 00:15:58.28

The question is, who's right in this conflict?

00:15:58.62 – 00:16:01.56

Were you justified in invading and destroying

00:16:01.56 – 00:16:03.34

and killing a million people there?

00:16:03.48 – 00:16:04.48

And the answer is no.

00:16:04.86 – 00:16:06.10

And so it doesn't matter.

00:16:06.32 – 00:16:08.40

Like it's just totally irrelevant to the conflict.

00:16:08.64 – 00:16:10.66

Now, it's not irrelevant to how you feel

00:16:10.66 – 00:16:12.28

about the country as a whole.

00:16:12.28 – 00:16:14.48

But if you're talking about the war in Iraq,

00:16:14.52 – 00:16:16.48

I'm not gonna go like, well, you know,

00:16:17.70 – 00:16:20.28

George W. Bush is not as brutal as Saddam Hussein,

00:16:20.44 – 00:16:22.54

therefore I have some solidarity with him.

00:16:22.58 – 00:16:24.82

It's like, no, he's destroying a nation of people.

00:16:24.92 – 00:16:26.02

He has no right to do this.

00:16:26.06 – 00:16:28.48

And by the way, he's also greatly degrading my country.

00:16:28.94 – 00:16:33.24

Now, as far as the rest of your characterization of Israel,

00:16:33.80 – 00:16:35.74

I just, I think it's totally unfair

00:16:35.74 – 00:16:38.46

and not in line with the history.

00:16:38.68 – 00:16:41.02

And it's kind of circular reasoning.

00:16:41.02 – 00:16:43.06

Like, you're like, well, but don't you,

00:16:44.38 – 00:16:45.34

Israel's the good guy,

00:16:45.42 – 00:16:46.84

so how come you don't support the good guy?

00:16:46.92 – 00:16:48.26

Wouldn't you be more sympathetic to them

00:16:48.26 – 00:16:49.12

because they're the good guy?

00:16:49.22 – 00:16:50.56

It's like, well, no, but that's,

00:16:50.80 – 00:16:52.94

look, Israel is not a Western democracy.

00:16:53.32 – 00:16:54.00

They're just not.

00:16:54.26 – 00:16:55.80

And they don't get to play this card anymore.

00:16:56.20 – 00:17:00.78

Israel took control of the West Bank and Gaza in 1967.

00:17:02.94 – 00:17:06.04

They haven't occupied them for a few months after a war

00:17:06.04 – 00:17:07.92

or even a few years after the war.

00:17:08.04 – 00:17:10.46

They've occupied them for nearly 60 years

00:17:10.46 – 00:17:12.36

for longer than the Soviet Union

00:17:12.36 – 00:17:14.14

occupied all of Eastern Europe.

00:17:14.66 – 00:17:18.14

And none of the people in those territories

00:17:18.78 – 00:17:20.72

have any voting rights whatsoever.

00:17:21.28 – 00:17:22.92

So how can you call yourself a democracy?

00:17:23.36 – 00:17:26.04

By the way, I don't even, I'm not that into democracy.

00:17:26.24 – 00:17:26.54

I understand.

00:17:26.72 – 00:17:28.06

I don't really care about voting rights.

00:17:28.40 – 00:17:31.10

My beef is that they have no natural rights whatsoever,

00:17:31.42 – 00:17:35.32

but you don't get to just hold 5 million people captive

00:17:35.32 – 00:17:38.76

for nearly 60 years with no voting rights

00:17:38.76 – 00:17:40.42

and claim to be a democracy.

00:17:40.92 – 00:17:42.12

That's an apartheid regime.

00:17:42.68 – 00:17:45.64

And so I don't, listen, the fact is,

00:17:45.94 – 00:17:47.60

and many, just to your other point,

00:17:47.66 – 00:17:48.58

because there were a few there,

00:17:50.26 – 00:17:52.92

many Israelis at the highest level of government

00:17:52.92 – 00:17:54.88

have admitted this for many, many years,

00:17:55.16 – 00:18:01.14

from Moshe Dayan to Barak, all up and down,

00:18:01.26 – 00:18:03.06

bunch of former prime ministers admitted.

00:18:03.32 – 00:18:05.02

It was Ehud Barak who said,

00:18:05.20 – 00:18:07.96

if I was a young Palestinian, I'd be a terrorist too.

00:18:07.96 – 00:18:13.62

And it's not because they are just all possessed by evil

00:18:13.62 – 00:18:14.82

and Jew hatred.

00:18:15.18 – 00:18:17.78

The truth is that the creation of Israel,

00:18:17.90 – 00:18:19.18

however you feel about it,

00:18:19.40 – 00:18:23.78

involved three quarters of a million Palestinians

00:18:24.32 – 00:18:26.36

being kicked off of their land.

00:18:26.68 – 00:18:28.48

And then after 1967,

00:18:28.94 – 00:18:32.38

they've been occupied by a foreign military ever since.

00:18:32.60 – 00:18:34.54

It is the most human thing in the world

00:18:34.54 – 00:18:35.74

that you would develop hatred

00:18:35.74 – 00:18:37.06

for the people who did that to you.

00:18:37.06 – 00:18:39.26

There is no group of people anywhere,

00:18:39.38 – 00:18:40.78

including the three of us,

00:18:40.84 – 00:18:43.18

who would not develop a burning hatred

00:18:43.70 – 00:18:47.60

for the foreign military that is policing your streets,

00:18:48.44 – 00:18:51.22

kidnapping your people whenever they feel like it,

00:18:51.52 – 00:18:54.56

killing your people with zero consequences.

00:18:55.06 – 00:18:58.82

I mean, imagine this government,

00:18:59.16 – 00:19:02.18

look, the Likud party, Benjamin Netanyahu's party,

00:19:03.00 – 00:19:05.22

which is, he is the longest serving prime minister

00:19:05.22 – 00:19:08.72

in the history of Israel, was founded by who?

00:19:09.66 – 00:19:12.08

Menachem Begin, a literal terrorist.

00:19:12.70 – 00:19:14.50

That's what Israel did with their terrorists.

00:19:14.78 – 00:19:16.22

They elected them prime minister.

00:19:16.74 – 00:19:17.38

Who wouldn't?
